RB Dameon Pierce, Free Agent (6 Viewers)

Pierce is a healthy scratch tonight. Seems like a sign he's about to be traded. I wonder who would take him besides the Commanders.

You sure, man? That might just be numbers. Don't get me wrong. I would love that. He's at the end of a dynasty bench of mine. His market . . . it's the most bizarre market I think I've ever seen, but I should not be surprised ever by RB markets. The coaches and organizations are just looking for something wildly different than fans are.

Chiefs maybe? Vikings if Jones hammy is worse than we know? Bears?
It’s possible he’s not getting traded. He played awful last week.

But I’m going to speculate anyway he’s most likely going to be traded. Those teams you list are the major candidates, maybe Steelers a sneaky one if they don’t trust Kaleb and need a power back.

No team in the NFL needs to acquire RB help more than the Chiefs IMO.

This would be too logical for Pierce's career. I'll lay a gentleman's bet he's going nowhere. Texas clearly refuses to do right by the dude.

Anyway, it's clear the Chiefs need a running back. This is a neat stat that shows up on the field.

There's absolutely no reason not to post this and since I went so forcefully against the Chiefs having any offense weapons until Rashee comes back and even he ain't going to be enough to keep defenses from going absolutely nuts like Mahomes is in heat. Check this stat out. These guys are indescribably bad.

According the Next Gen Stats, Isiah Pacheco is -17 in expected yards gained on all his runs through two games. All Chiefs RBs are negative in EPA as well.

This is on them for thinking they can get back to the SB with a 30 year old Hunt + Pacheco coming back from a broken foot.
Totally whiffed on drafting a RB.

It was such a deep class too. Guys like Skattebo and Sampson were there in round 4. Both those guys are better than anything KC has. And better than Pierce for that matter

I don't understand what Kansas City, Houston, Dallas, and especially (God, they need to fire the GM and maybe I'm just saying that because it's de rigueur on Twitter, but I think it's a really accurate sentiment) Chicago were thinking or doing. Chicago had a bunch of picks, IIRC. They're by far the most egregious of the bunch.

I'm willing to forgive Houston the most out of those 4, because they almost certainly thought Mixon wouldn't be out this long in April.

Not that there was high draft capital, but literally all of those teams picked a RB in the draft.

Yup.

If you have to correct that I'm not even bothering.

This guy was just dropped in a 16 tm dynasty league.
Not sure why you necessarily hold if there is a different upside guy you rather have. To this point it is obvious Houston doesn't have plans for him so it would take a trade or release to have any value.

As with all drops, it depends what he was dropped for but I wouldn't have any issue dropping him.

Imagine doing a start-up Dynasty draft after his rookie year...gotta believe the Owners who took him relatively early didn't know what hit him after that.
I traded for him in a few leagues :bag: Definitely hastened on a rebuild for two of my dynasty teams :sadbanana:

The ghost of Kerryon Johnson...these guys who look good their rookie year and seemed poised to be a good one than disappear as if it never happened.

Kerryon, you can at least point to an injury. If anyone can identify the specific fraud that was perpetrated during his rookie year, I would love to hear it so I can avoid falling into the next D. Pierce trap. No great explanation. Just the message that the guy is no good at running zone. A big rookie year wasn't enough to get any team running gap interested in trading for him.

Here's my best attempt. Please correct or expand upon as you're able:

  • A good runner of the football in a gap system.
  • Texans went with an outside zone scheme in Year 2, and he apparently was never able to catch on.
  • Fair to say that he can't do any of the other things NFL teams are asking RBs to do to win games in 2025?
  • At a human level, his confidence must have taken a hit

I'm embarrassed to say that I still had some hope for a turnaround going into week 1. Yes, garbage week 18, but hard to completely ignore 176 yards given the rookie year resume. I'll still be tempted to run to the waiver wire if it's an intriguing landing spot. You would think any team interested in giving him a real shot would have been willing to swap late round picks. Then again, how many people had Javonte Williams in the RB glue factory.

What are you upset about upset about, my good man? This is liberation day. He's not long for unemployment. You are about to find out if your small investment was worth it. Damn it on my end. I've been meaning to add him but everything feels like it's a roster crunch.

You too? Wait, he didn't retire, did he?

Have you guys really watched the Chiefs?

Good on you for keeping the faith alive but he couldn't even make the active roster for half the games this year and that's with Mixon out to pasture and the ghost of Chubb and rookie Marks splitting time. If any team would have wanted him, they could have had him from the Texans for the change in their couch cushions. I'm sure he'll land somewhere with all the RB injuries but I'm not expecting anything
