Yeah there definitely seems to be a number of people, not necessarily all on here but in general social media, that seem determined to spin negatives with this guy, no matter what. The need to be right about something.

First it was "too fragile, can't stay healthy", then "not drafting him early, he'll split with Mostert and not get enough touches", then when that turned out false and in fact it was Mostert getting hurt instead and then Achane just shouldered the entire load on a short week with a dinged ankle as well, "well now he's going to get too many touches, he'll break down".

Sheesh. I share some concerns about staying healthy over the season, for any RB playing 16 games is tough, and especially under an ever-increasing workload but the narrative flip-flopping is tiresome.

Sometimes you can't win. Sometimes when the underdog defeats expectations it just pisses people off instead.

Like with Tom Brady, the guy had to win 5-6 championships before he was universally approved.

How much weight did he gain in the offseason? He doesn't look small out there, and his short area lateral quickness while still moving downhill is still something to behold. There are going to be a lot of people that need to eat some crow here, not that I expect them to actually sit down at the table...

Achane had a 38 carry 216 yard game vs LSU. He was tough between the tackles in college.

His hands and receiving skills are very good, near elite for a RB. He lined up as a WR many times in HS and college. I would like to see him run some wheel routes as a RB and WR routes other than screens.

I've never questioned his durability. You can look back through my posts here and I have pointed similar things about his usage throughout college. He didn't play in some little college either, he was going up against the big boys of the SEC. He's a great running back and should hold up in the NFL just fine over time. My only point was that he looks bigger this season, much bigger. And it doesn't seem like it's impacted his quickness at all. If it wasn't for that sloppy field last night, he would have broken a couple long ones. I still can't really understand why Miami, a team built on speed, doesn't have a faster field. I mean, it rains in Florida, A LOT. This isn't something new.

I'm actually not too worried about it. Getting LOL'ed over something I did that makes total sense is what I take umbrage with. Exactly what has Achane proven about playing hurt before last night? Again, I'll hang up and let people tell me. Guy has actually missed a bunch of time and left GMs in a bit of a lurch last year (although nobody counted on him last year).

Achane is fun to watch. He's a great FF addition and obviously a legit football player. I picked Kendre Miller over him in rookie drafts and so I course corrected and took Achane in the second round of my redraft because I was that confident in his abilities. When you've got Dobbins, Moss, and Pittman all on your bench, however, you're probably going to sit the hurt guy.

That's all. Not really defensive. Just thinking that if you put stock in air, sometimes you come up with air.

The bolded would be where I'd throw my own quibble in the ring lol. I get my viewpoint on Achane is different than other posters here; but like I've said before in this thread if Achane outright wins me 2-3 weeks during the season and gets me into the playoffs, it's not a huge loss to me if he's broken on my bench by then because I was able to get RBs like Dobbins, Conner, and Stevenson in the middle rounds of the draft for next to nothing who I can easily play. Making the playoffs is my goal for every season as (in my experience) once they start it's a dice roll. Not many leagues do you have to start more than 2 RBs. This year, for whatever reason, high volume/high upside RBs were incredibly cheap and I was able to fill out my bench with 4-5 of them in nearly every draft I did and rarely if ever got "snuck" because they were all so cheap I had 0 issues mostly taking them a round earlier than ADP.

I hope Achane stays healthy and hope he stays productive, the prospect is hurt a bit with the team losing Tua now. But I drafted him for the ability to win a week single handedly, not as a high floor every week set and forget starter.

Those guys have played a lot longer than Achane, and in the last three to four years, are injured less on a per-game basis.

I think they were trying to until all the other RBs got injured. Then supposedly Wright needed a breather too so all that was left was Achane to go back in.

I do think it will be tough sledding going forward for the run game though if Miami's QBs can't threaten the field with teh deep ball. Maybe more check downs and passing usage for Achane. Right now though Achane is the only healthy veteran RB with some talent. I wish they kept Brooks (who can do more of the heavy lifting).

The dude burns bright and wins weekly matchups on a regular basis. The bitterness will comes when you need him most in the most pivotal moments and he may not be available.

He may get you to the dance but make no mistake he is impossible to replace on your fantasy squad.

Would recommend handcuffing Wright to him for piece of mind as we don’t know yet what Wright’s capable of.

Miami seems to me to just burn bright and **** people up when things work, and then the train derails spectacularly. There is no in between for this team. But the RB’s constantly score tons of fantasy points in this system.

Doubling down didn't work last time so keep it going I guess?

Achane may get injured this year, like any other RB could. I'm sure you will be the first to say I told you so when it happens.

It is only week 2 and we have injuries to CMC, Pacheco, White, Mixon, and Walker. I'm sure I'm missing some. Then on Achanes own team Mostert and now Wilson are hurt.

It is the nature of the business being an RB in the NFL.

I understand you don't own any Achane shares and went all in on Wright but for now it isn't Wright's time. I like Wright but the coaches aren't ready (yet) to give him a full workload.

I have an Achane share. I think he’s phenomenal. I’ll never brag that he will get hurt or ever say I told you so. It is probably best to just enjoy the ride and see what happens when it happens. I’m not even a huge Wright fan- more a system and schematics fan how, like the 49ers, the team can just churn RB production out of thin air.

It’s like any player who is labeled injury prone. You’re injury prone until you’re not. Steph Currys ankles were made of puddy…until they weren’t. Sometimes it goes that trajectory, sometimes it doesn’t.

I think it’s a ton of fun to have 7 for 70 receiving yards from a RB. Only CMC, Breece, and maybe Bijan can do that in today’s league. And then you add the rushing and TD’s. It’s a lot of fun.

Maybe I value availability a bit too much vs weekly variance.

Some good points there but I still object to the Injury Prone label. Who says he's injury prone? He was a workhorse in college with no issues. Got knicked up a bit last year but nothing serious. This year he is 2 for 2 with both being great games 20+ points.

He's no more injury prone than any other RB.

He missed 6 games last year, so yes I agree the data set may be incomplete. Maybe he sat a week as the team rested starters.

As long as they keep his workload manageable it’ll help him stay off the trainers table.

I think they were trying to until all the other RBs got injured. Then supposedly Wright needed a breather too so all that was left was Achane to go back in.

I do think it will be tough sledding going forward for the run game though if Miami's QBs can't threaten the field with teh deep ball. Maybe more check downs and passing usage for Achane. Right now though Achane is the only healthy veteran RB with some talent. I wish they kept Brooks (who can do more of the heavy lifting).

I liked Brooks as well. I thought he looked pretty good in limited action. They really need a bruiser on this team. I know it might not fit what they want to do 90% of the time, but that other 10% is important.

Nobody in their right mind is not starting Achane. I’m just NFL curious what the split might look like when both healthy.

Agree - Achane may get more touches as receiver, with Mostert doing a lot of the heavy between-the-tackles lifting, but that is just fine from a PPR standpoint.

Achane will get a heavy dose of touches again but they need to get their passing game going. Hopefully with a long week of practice Thompson can feel more comfortable in this offense.

If not they will just sit back and tee off on the run game. Thompson needs to get Hill and Waddle involved early and not just check it down to Jonnu every play.

Was a wild game plan, where McDaniel was pass heavy for some strange reason. Thompson was awful, but McDaniel also called an awful game. Have to think they'll get that straightened out a bit at least.

I was just thinking, I hope people realize how good Tua is, now that we've seen what it looks like without him.

I mean, we're talking about literally probably the worst backup QB in the league and the worst 3rd string QB in the league we've seen in his place.

Sunday's game was actually the highest QB rating Tim Boyle has ever put up in a game in his career (counting games where he had at least 5 pass attempts). So he actually played better than his career averages when playing for this Miami team. Coming into this game he had a career YPA of 4.9 and threw an INT once every 10 pass attempts.

And also can't forget that we haven't really seen what Tua's numbers would look like on this year's team. Remember he threw 3 INTs last week and his QB rating this year is actually just as bad as as Skyler Thompson and Tim Boyle's.

Wrestling with Achane vs Monty for my last flex decision. Monty has been so consistent. Safer floor vs higher ceiling maybe
