RB De’Von Achane, MIA (1 Viewer)

Who knows what the real deal is, as McDaniel doesn’t seem to be the straightest shooter. But it could be that they wanted to rest him on a short week. Not that it helped us today.

More.

>>Dolphins RB De’Von Achane knee got landed on, Mike McDaniel said. They got positive feedback from trainers on his status.

Miami HC Mike McDaniel said they wanted to be careful because it was the same knee he previously injured. He chose caution despite Achane’s pleas to return.<<

McD is not always the most accurate messenger. He’s got a little Pete Carroll optimism to him. Still, best possible news for Achane shareholders so far.

He could came back in this is good news except for my eliminated playoff cutline teams after next week if my teams can't make up for his loss.

"He kind of got landed on, and it was a little painful," McDaniel said. "He was politicking to try to come back in the game, but I was a little worried off the rust to go and do that. We kind of held him back, and we'll see what it looks like tomorrow."

Mmmmmmkay. Love McDaniel but I'm calling liar here. Ha ha

Its interesting, been thinking about it, did he think he thought he could beat the Raiders without him, and was saving him for a bigger run?

The flip side is, maybe I"m naive, but McDaniel seems like a different cat, who might actually prioritize the health of his players, I know they do in some broad sense but I could really see a scenario of McDaniel saving him from himself pending an MRI

I don't think many coaches think like that personally. I also don't think he thought that. NFL games are hard to win. I think coaches want to use all hands on deck to win every possession. I think the game plan was the guy was healthy and will be used as such until he wasn't.

Did he come back in for only one play in the 3rd or 4th (where he almost fumbled)? I thought I saw him catch a pass? Also, did he start the game? I caught it late

No, he didn't come back in. He started the game for Miami, first carry for 1 yard. Next drive he was back for the kick-off return, then first play 1 catch for 4 yards and never returned.

With the short week, a game on Friday, he may sit the game out. TBD.

I think the opposite.......they held him out. He clearly wanted back in.

He plays Friday.

Would be very surprised if he played.

This is now the third time he's been injured. Preseason shoulder, Knee, Knee again.

As an Achane owner in one league, kind of hope he sits this week. Obviously concerned about his inability to stay on the field. In game injuries are a global killer. I know all players are at risk but Achane seems to be at a greater risk.

I would say it's impossible that he plays Friday but this is the same team that put Tua back out there last year when he was seeing little birdies so who knows.

Better off he sits anyway against the Jets.
Inarguably a bad matchup, but Achane is one of the few RBs that can accumulate an entire games worth of fantasy production on one play. Jets could stuff the run all game except one for one play where Achane slips through the tiniest of creases and boom. Going to be tough to sit him of he plays.

McDaniel's quoted as saying, "He doesn't need surgery, but hasn't yet ruled Friday out."

LOL.

This guy.
It gets better

When asked about the chance of De’Von Achane (knee) playing in Week 12 against the Jets, Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said, “There’s a chance that he will and he won’t.”

lol. lmao

Thanks Nostradamus, that’s very helpful
haha...i don't think McDaniels cares one bit about what we need.

So ... dynasty valuation on this kid ... insane numbers in the games he has played (will come down to earth ... no one averages 12 ypc ... but could remain elite) ... but the injuries are scaring me, considering he is so small. If any "injury-proneness" does actually exist, I would figure small size would be one of the risk factors. But I don't know anything.

Is he worth a likely early 2024 first? (ETA: In, what I would call, a "RB-centric" league where RB makes up 40-60% of your RB-WR-TE slots)

I have a 2024 first that currently sits at #1 pick, one team is tied with him but has 50 more points. (The caveat here is that he is in an extremely weak division, and if he wins out he has a decent shot to win it, or even if he finishes 2-1 he may make the playoffs.) The Achane owner has asked what I would want for that pick. Thinking of offering straight up, but I don't think he would do it unless he's worried about the injuries too.

He is what he has been… pure gravy. Not a guy I am or any one of us can count on. If he can deliver, awesome. But planning for the rest of my seasons without him

Roster clogger? He would get picked up in an instant. He’s exactly the type of player a roster churner would snatch up and hold in a heart beat. Even if the cat wasn’t out of the bag, he was always considered a Mega Millions lottery ticket before he even touched the ball. Still is, only now we KNOW what the guy is capable of. The situation isn’t working out like anyone had hoped, that much is obvious, but this is exactly the type of guy that should be acquired on potential alone.

He is what he has been... a roster clogger.

Can't start. Can't trade. Can't cut. :wall:
But legit league winner upside, rather him
On my roster than someone else’s
If you have a better bench than what achane offers then it’s not clogged. Cut someone else if you need room

Personally I’ll need a TE in two weeks, been holding Algier but he’s going unless I heard achane is out for the season. Don’t love it given his playoff slate but there’s always someone else to cut.. achane is the best problem to have
Precisely why he falls into the Can't Cut category. Still, this situation with wily McDaniel apt to do who knows what any given week is a recipe for extreme :wall:. Roster is clogged - can only hope now for some draino soon.

I hate the quote system too.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports De’Von Achane (knee) playing in Week 12 would be a “mild surprise.”

While Achane’s knee injury isn’t considered serious, the Dolphins might be cautious with the speedster and keep him sidelined for Friday’s game against the Jets. Raheem Mostert would be set up for a heavy workload against the run-funnel Jets if Achane were out. Salvon Ahmed (foot) being on injured reserve could mean Jeff Wilson will function as the team’s No. 2 back against New York.

The Jets aren't that great vs. the run. I think alot of people think they are for some reason. They give up 137+ yards per game. Only two other teams are worse.

Yep - #1 vs the pass, far down the rankings vs the run

Fair point, but I don’t think he’s playing anyway, or at least getting a big workload.
