RB De’Von Achane, MIA (1 Viewer)

Strategy question. To activate Achane from IR need to drop someone. Is it better to drop a back up tight end or a running back handcuff?

i will be in the same position when he is activated from ir

my choices are
Huntley (not really needed) have carr and herbert
Zamir White -- what a wasted 1.12 pick in 2022, i needed rb prospects badly
Emanual Wilson

im leaning towards releasing white

You're gonna need to post a lot more info to get a good answer. Posting the entire roster would be a good start. Or at least the players in question.
Afraid I'll be shunned or kicked out if I post about my own team in the Shark Pool, but you asked, thank you, so here it goes.
We start 2 TEs, could actually start 3 with a flex, but I never do.
My starting Tight Ends are Jake Ferguson and Trey McBride. I have Logan Thomas who I'm considering cutting to activate Achane. Trey McBride and Logan Thomas both have a bye week 14 so I can't even use Logan Thomas to cover the bye. He would only be useful based on matchups or if one of my other TEs get hurt.
I could cut Zach Charbonnet. I have Kenneth Walker. I'm very deep at RB as it's an auction keeper league and it's only 8 teams and my draft picks were spot on, so I also have at running back: T Etienne, D Montgomery, Bijan Robinson, D Swift, and Tyjae Sharpe as well (not a Henry owner but like his upside if Henry gets hurt).

Marginal TEs are easy to replace with marginal TEs. I wouldn’t cut Charbonnet even though you are pretty strong at RB. Productive RBs are very hard to replace.

I think the bolded is a no brainer. Get rid of Thomas - you can always get someone like him on waivers.

i will be in the same position when he is activated from ir

Zamir White -- what a wasted 1.12 pick in 2022, i needed rb prospects badly
Emanual Wilson

im leaning towards releasing white
I've been doing this long enough to think you were talking about Richard Huntley. Still waiting for him to take over the starting gig from Jerome Bettis.

If it's Caleb Huntley, wasn't he released by the Falcons at the beginning of the season?

I am assuming Lamar's backup, Tyler Huntley, since he is talking about QB's

And Huntley could be cut due to the existing depth he has at QB. White doesn’t have much value but if Jacobs would be injured and out for a bit, White would get touches.

I'm doing this on one team. It's a TE premium league, but I have Kincaid & McBride.

Temper expectations. Mostert has been very good and Jeff Wilson is capable. And they might not need much of Achane vs LV.
If he dresses.....he will play and get half the touches.....no doubt in my mind. Wilson is a turd compared to Achane. These next 5 games.....huge for our season. Need to go at least 4-1 before that Ravens, Cowboys, Bills stretch.

If Achane is ready.....he is playing.

They didn't really take Achane out for a test drive, that's my concern. I guess no need for a full practice. I agree that this 5 game stretch of games where we should be favored are important to win. The Raiders have talent at key positions. But they are only 26 OVP at RB.

I hear you......but I think if they are dressing him they feel he is ready to go full speed.

LV has a 2 game win streak and has played more inspired after McDaniels got booted. I wouldn't look past them especially since MIA has been playing .500 ball over the last 6 games.

yeah this is my dilemma,

yeah this is my dilemma. white hasnt shown anything but if Jacobs gets hurt, he should get carries. RB's have are hard to get and are hoarded.
Huntley is a FA and has shown flashes and I like having qb depth but not totally needed because of starting requirements and I start Herbert every week

If you have Mostert, do you start him and Achane? That is my dilemma I'm trying to work through.

I could see Mostert getting more touches and ending up like 17-86-1 TD, 3-22-0 TDs

and Achane having 8-137-2 TDs, 1-37-0 TDs

You have to play archane. Miami is going to get an early lead and run the ball repeatedly.

Just activated
  • Dolphins activated RB De’Von Achane from injured reserve ahead of Week 11 against the Raiders.
Achane was on a tear prior to injuring his knee in the team’s Week 5 game against the Giants, amassing a whopping 460 yards on just 38 carries to go along with seven total touchdowns in the span of three games. It remains unclear what his level of involvement will be in his first game back from injured reserve, but the Dolphins get their lightning to Raheem Mostert’s thunder back for a game against the hapless Raiders.

Such a tough decision for owners this week. Will he be the most explosive player on the field or a 5 touch guy?

If there was someone to activate, it's this guy. That said, how much run does he get 1st game back. Ugg. Decisions, decisions.
Logic says 10 touches...Raiders are bad, and he won't be needed.
At least Achane is more likely than most players to put up good fantasy numbers with only 5 or 10 touches.

He will be riding my bench this week as I can't pull him off IR without dropping someone and I need to ride the Chargers Defense this week. I'm not sure where to put him in my lineup the rest of the way. Maybe over Squaon if he continues to be pedestrian, but Barkley will be getting the volume the rest of the way. Maybe at flex but I have a solid set of WRs as well. Who are pretty consistent and have put up some big games as well.

Going forward is it crazy to start him over Barkley if he comes out solid in this game today? The other spot would be flex where my options are Thielen (who has been coming back to earth) and Waddle (who has inconsistent and banged up all year). I guess it comes down to whether you want to swing for the fences (Achane) vs try to keep a solid floor at that position (play the WRs that are going to get between 10-15 points as a floor). Good problem to have I guess. As electric as he's been it is still a pretty small sample size to predict off of.

I hate starting players coming off injury. He's out there where I own him. Good luck to those trotting him out!
Hes a league winner.
IF, and it's a big IF, he stays healthy. 2 IR stints already. Dolphins need to be smart. This is a 10 touch player, no more...
He was not on injured reserve twice but I don't want to get in your way here
He was nicked up in preseason and missed week 1. I'm guessing that's what he's referring to.

He's in my lineup.

That's true, he was banged around in preseason BUT he was not listed with any injuries, ad it was hard to get a straight answer.

-From a Miami Phinsfan perspective, we don't see rookies usually take the field and start Day 1, there's exceptions but we haven't seen of late so nobody raised an eyebrow that he was absent Week 1, in fact there was very little expected from Achane by the fan base here. Some of us that are more involved in FF, kinda knew this kid had the potential mixed with Coach MM fanboy love of him and you have the recipe for what we saw over about 3 weeks/3 games.

It also helps to have 2 blazing fast Wide Receivers taking up all the DBs awareness and coverage skills while Achane is flying into the 2nd level with nobody around to stop him.
Enjoy today, obviously I hope he goes off, I have him on one league but it's shameful the talent I have stacked in front of him, even with JT and Kamara on Bye weeks I'm having to flip a coin between him and Monty for the RB2/Flex spots.

Good Luck to you and anyone who rolls him out today.
@Todem usually has the best takes on Miami, he's spot on with his earlier post and how Achane will be used.
I don't think many of us thought he was going on IR to begin with, you add in a Bye week with 4 other weeks he was off, he's gonna be shot out of a cannon today if things go right.
Gibbs is special, Achance has some of that same pop and ceiling in his game, not the same RB but the electricity we all feed on when he is running and breaks into the 2nd level, similar vibe

Achane was body slammed in preseason game 2, shoulder hurt, and missed the next preseason game and first regular season game with a shoulder injury. He had limited snaps in game 2 vs NE, looked good and then exploded in the next 3. We assume he had an MCL sprain before going on IR, but it was never verified. In college, he missed 1 game with a foot injury, next game was 36 carries vs LSU. Too early to say much about being injury prone. But Mostert has been great, and Jeff Wilson will get a few touches.

Both starting Guards for Miami are out today, in fact Wynn would make 3 starting Guards OUT today
Liam Eichenberg, one of the lowest rated OL in all of football according to PFF will start at LG today
Lester Cotton will fill in at RG, no way he can fill Hunt's shoes.
This is going to be a problem
