RB Derrick Henry, BAL (5 Viewers)

I was asking the following question to all my friends at Buffalo Wild Wings today because it looks like he's on his way to becoming the latest to do so:

Who was the last player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season once they turned the age of 30?

And we couldn't figure the answer out. I don't think there's that many that's done it, but it looks like Derrick Henry is about to join that elite company. For the record, I'm trying to figure out how many times EVER has a player rushed for 1,000 yards in a season past the age of 30. If someone could figure out the answer, I'd really appreciate it.
Raheem mostert last year.

According to the historical data dominator, it has occurred 51 times since 1960.
Tike barber had 1800 in 2005 @30, then 1600 in 2006 at 31.

You’re in good hands if the most recent data points are mostert (underrated and had tons of injuries), barber (also underrated) and Peterson (goat worthy).

The weather hasn’t even turned ugly yet! If he stays healthy this is what a true league winner looks like

All right, so we figured out the number of 1,000-yard rushers past the age of 30 is more than I anticipated. But, how many times has a guy rushed for 1,500 yards past the age of 30? I don't think that's a real high number.

6 times since 1960 (thats as far back as the historical DD goes): Barber in 2005 and 2006 (1860 & 1662); Curtis Martin in 2004 (1697); Payton in 1984 & 1985 (1684 & 1551); and Dillon in 2004 (1635).

The key to so far a dominant season for me. I had him RB1. Didn’t want to risk losing him early round 2 so took him 1.10. Then went Kyren Williams and later got Montgomery and Hunt. RB group is strongest in the league (have Corum as insurance for Kyren). Add Love and a bunch of value receivers like Godwin in rounds 3-8, Aubrey and good defenses and it makes for a tough lineup. Henry is a beast. Doesn’t slow down

My biggest draft mistake was taking Jacobs over Henry in a redraft league. My heart knew Henry was the pick but I put way too much value on the difference in age. I'm not bitter about it. It still stings, but I love Henry.

I absolutely think he leads the league in rushing yards and TD's if he stays healthy. No doubt in my mind
If someone could tell me what he's on pace for, I'd really appreciate it.
Projected for about 1995 rushing yards and 23 TDs (on 337 carries). Plus another 139 yards and 3 TDs in the air (on 17 receptions).

This includes a 199 yard and 151 yard game within a 6 game sample which may be harder to repeat over the remaining 11 games. He's probably more on pace for 1600-1700 which is still amazing for his age.

I thought he was washed up?

I really wonder if he's the most talked about RB in history. From the HS days to Heisman and all the supposed knocks against him claims, add in social media not present in some eras...he probably is

Right, those are the numbers if he maintains his current production (which includes some massive games).

I'd probably take the under if I had to bet, but I'd love to see him keep it up and continue to defy expectations.

I'm currently just enjoying the show and glad to have him on my team after "reaching" for him at the 1/2 turn.

I love how the Ravens are using Henry. Seems like they are somewhat limiting his touches in the 1st half and leaning hard on him in the 4th quarter.

A fresh Henry vs a fresh defense is good matchup. A fresh Henry vs a tired defense late in the 2nd half is almost unfair.

He is the greatest backup RB ever. Love how he spells Lamar. They are new Thunder and Lightning. 😎

That's the thing. People chuckled when I took him 1.12. I guarantee every one of my league mates wishes they took him in the first now.

I thought that honor was shared by Christine Michael and Tatum Bell.

In the bold predictions thread:

Derrick Henry becomes the first player to rush for 2,000 yards twice.
My other 2 predictions were Les Good.

I was thrilled to take him 2.10.

Barry is still talked about a lot.
Pure numbers you might be right, but as a share of RB, It’s Barry.

Worst week of the year for me. Needed a decent week from him to keep me in the high score hunt. Instead he's adding to probably.y lowest score in a decade. I'll go from 20 points up for most points to about 80 down. Really bad week.

And just like that, he comes through. TD would have been nice but I'll take that.

What’s weird is that him and Zeke were both drafted in 2016. Zeke was a stud early and just faded. Henry started slowly and has come on strong later. Their careers are so strange when compared to each other.

For fun, and weird career comparisons, also drafted in 2016:
Michael Thomas and Tyreek Hill
Jared Goff and Carson Wentz.

I just turned down a trade offering him for my Micah Parsons a few weeks ago in dynasty IDP. I requested Brian Thomas, Jr. I was thrilled at an acceptance.

I'm not sure I didn't make a mistake. :oldunsure:

This is why you don't worry about your guy being underutilized early in their careers. Henry still has tread left and Zeke is running on baldies.

Zeke is running on rims

I usually try to exit early on the older guys. I'm going to ride Henry until the end. He's one of a kind. Are there any similar players you older guys can compare Henry to?

I think Henry maybe spent a bit more time and focus on caring for his body

Same. I was offered a couple of picks for him two years ago and I couldn't decline fast enough. He was one of the keys to me winning my first championship in my devy league last year and my team is looking strong again this year having both Lamar and Henry on the same team

He's cristiano ronaldo, but instead of making the career defining mistake of returning to Man United, he accepted the move to Man City and got even better instead of "worse"

Exact replicas in terms of physical obsession and mentality.
