RB Doug Martin, Free Agent (2 Viewers)

Started Woodhead in PPR over him.... and Julio has 0 catchers. I was tempted to start him but I thought the Jags relatively stout run defense would keep him in check. Well, the good news is that Doug E Fresh looks legit.

He looks like a must start every week after the bye.

Starting him in all my DFS leagues. Had a feeling he would do well against a weak Jaguars team.

Biggest problem for him usually is that TB gets behind early and can't run. This should be a closer game.

But, but, but...you take out this game and he's not any good.
If you take out Weeks 8-11, 12, 14, and 17 of his rookie year; Week 2 of 2013, Week 17 of 2014, and Weeks 4-5 of this year; he's one of the worst RBs in NFL history.

As much as I love Doug Martin, don't forget he's going to fall victim to game script a lot this year, just like Hyde. Look at what happened in the Tennessee game if you need a reminder.

You did not watch this game.
they changed the way they think. They were way down against Carolina last week and still fed Martin. He's their best weapon and they finally realized it.
We'll see. Tampa is one of the worst coaching staffs in the league and the front office will want the game plan to be a certain way to help with Winston's development.

What a shame. I was being serious. I think this concept is one of the few remaining edges in the game today.
You have expended a lot of effort to basically argue two things:

1. Don't draft a player like Martin too early, when you can still get better talent at other positions.

2. Don't expect Martin to perform better than RBBC.

Point 1 is irrelevant to those who didn't draft Martin at all, but rather picked him up as a free agent. It is also irrelevant to those who own him in dynasty leagues that have been in existence for a long time.

Point 2 is irrelevant to those who own Martin but already use him as part of RBBC. It is also irrelevant to those in leagues in which it isn't easy to pick up startable RBs off the waiver wire, whether due to deep rosters, low waiver priority, or other reasons.

It just doesn't seem that your argument is very applicable to most people.
The bigger problem with point 1 is that the 4th-6th rounds are full of land mines at every position. The notion that you should pass on Martin for a sure thing relies on a faulty premise.

I wouldn't expect the Bucs to be down by 28 points at the half like they were against Tennessee.

Doug looks like a top 5 RB going forward, and depending on preference he could be top 3.

I'm pretty excited about him moving forward. The offense is starting to click and he's getting volume. Besides the fact he looks great. The buy low window has closed.

I still find Sims' usage disturbing. I mean, they gave that turd a goal line carry (9:15 4Q 1st and goal on the 2). Luckily he didn't get in and they put Martin in and he got it.

FWIW, the snap split was 41-26.

Sims looked really good too. Ali Marpet is blasting people off the ball.

If they're going to run it that much Doug can't get it all.

Always fun to see Rotoworld's personal bias against a player rear it's head

Jacksonville had no answer for the Bucs' run game with MLB Paul Posluszny sidelined. Martin's longest play was a tackle-breaking 39-yard run in the second quarter, but he picked up big gains all game. His first touchdown was a 10-yard screen, with both of his rushing scores coming on goal-line carries. Martin has four touchdowns over the last two weeks and consecutive 100-yard games. He's locked in as an RB2 for Week 6.

A guy averaging 100 YFS/game and getting hot inside the 5 is an RB2? OK... :lmao:

I couldn't get a bag of rocks for this guy a few weeks back now everybody is knocking at my door. Fantasy football is a funny game sometimes. Good to see him back to the Doug we know and love. He looked good last night. Hopefully it continues.
