Isn't he also only like 200 lbs? And Demercado is like 215? Seems like a role reversal should be applied. Or if Carter can do it all, why roll Demercado out? Some of you act like Carter sucks at receiving. He doesn't.

Cardinals RB Michael Carter said he will be starting for the team when speaking to reporters Wednesday.
When asked about his journey to signing with the active Cardinals roster, Carter said, “It’s been a lot...go from Pat Tillman one week to starting the next.” The Cardinals’ “Pat Tillman” designation is for the Scout Player of the Week. Carter may have let slip about the Cardinals’ backfield rotation for Week 5, saying he will be “starting the next.” We don’t know how an Emari Demercado - Michael Carter backfield will look like, but Carter certainly believes he will be starting. Head coach Jonathan Gannon said there is a chance we see all three backs, adding Bam Knight into the mix. This is a messy situation for fantasy managers, but it seems Demercado will take passing-down work while Carter has more of the early-down work.

Yeah, right? I mean, if Carter was THAT good he would have been the backup to Benson already, not Demercado, and not sitting on the practice squad. There's a reason he was on the practice squad and it wasn't because he was better than the guys already on the roster.

Michael Carter is similar to the Chris Rodriguez situation. Inactive because doesn't play special teams, but vaults into starting early-down role with injuries. Emari Demercado is Jeremy McNichols.

So the slower, smaller RB who doesn't catch as well will be the one to own?
@luisaz1513

Emari has quite literally played more offensive snaps the past 2 seasons(23/24) than McNichols and Rodriguez combined. Do you guys even try and look at those basic stats or just say who you want to get the snaps?

Those rushing numbers are vomit inducing. Good thing he sprinkles in some TD's here and there. But therein lies the issue...with Demercado's bigger bulk, maybe HE should be the between the tackles guy and Carter should be the 3rd down/hurry up guy? That's all I'm saying. I picked up Carter every where I could and hope he pans out. But I just don't see how they can bring him up and give him more touches than Demercado. But your reference to Chris Rodriguez is valid as well. I just don't think these coaches are as smart as they think they are. Go back and look at the stats from last year.
Week 17 last year - Carter had 13 carries for 70 yards.
Week 18 last year - Carter had 17 carries for 43 yards and a TD.
Go look at 2021 with the Jets.
How about 2025 preseason?
Game 1:
Carter 7 carries for 20 yards. Zero catches
Emari: 3 carries for 7 yards. 2 catches for 56 yards and a TD
Game 2:
Carter 8 carries for 10 yards. 5 catches for 19 yards
Emari 6 carries for 15 yards. Zero catches
Game 3:
Carter 5 carries for 47 yards. Zero catches
Emari 7 carries for 22 yards. 2 catches for 8 yards
Now reports are Carter taking 1st reps in practice.

That's what I'm doing, but I don't like it. I'm also not sure how much this game will tell us either. It's likely the outlier of the next 6 weeks. So are folks grabbing both, and waiting to see what happens?
And like what they saw so much they didn't bring him back at all. Then brought him to the practice squad. I get what your saying. But. I just don't think we can make any real judgments based on the past in this case. We really have no idea how this is gonna play out. Imo
Nobody claimed these guys were going to be Bijan. My point is simply, of the two, Carter has shown the ability to handle a large workload.
This same staff gave Carter a good amount of work at the end of last season.

Do coaches need to start coaching this again?
That would actually send a message
Do coaches need to start coaching this again?
He should be cut. Cost them a game and he isn't some rookie, or second year player that didn't play much his rookie year. 26 years old.
Totally. If he’s not cut today, something is wrong with this team.
Do coaches need to start coaching this again?

But, but, but, it looked so cool and then when he knelt to get praise from the crowd, it was such a Rockstar like moment.I just don't get it. If I played football, I would make dam sure the ball was secure well into the end zone.
He'll never make that mistake again, illogical to cut him based purely on that error. If his play was bad it's a perfectly valid excuse to cut him but it's a freakish, once in a career error.
To send a message that you don't stand by your players when you make, admittedly very bad, errors and compile the pressure on all the other peripheral squad players?Disagree. He's not Jonathan Taylor... he's a journeyman RB... march him out the door to send a message
Agree. Dunno man. Could provoke a few guys to affirm their mental focus, in a team that is struggling and low on confidence it might just do the opposite and cause some guys to play in fear.
Pro's and con's for both actions I think.
Me too. The interception/fumble/touchdown also a classic.I had the cards in survivor![]()

Agreed, there are different approaches. That play cost them the game. Could end up costing people their jobs. If trying establish a "culture"... cut him. if I am the coach at the next meeting....I immediately use myself as an example of a time where I made a mistake that cost the team.....then I ask Kyler if it is ok with him and if he can handle it and make an example out of him when he made a mistake.....then I ask Emari if he can handle it and if it is ok to make an example out of him...then I talk about it being selfish and I ask Emari to truly say what he was thinking at the time and why he did what he did.....point blank ask him if it was because he thought he would look cool....then I spend the next 10 minutes asking if this is the kind of stuff we have to waste practice and film time on....then I show the play over and over about 20 times.....and during the last few I draw a big circle around Sneed and say "this is the kind of player I want on my team.....Sneed is on an 0-4 team about to go three scores down and he is still busting his butt for his team....he had every reason to give up/fold his tent....he wasn't worried about looking "cool"....
I don’t think there was enough evidence to overturn the touchdown. It looked like the ball was still in his hand when he crossed the plane. That said, what a moron.
