I'm sure that'll work. Demercado seemed fairly affected by what he did, I don't think it's accurate to call him selfish but hey ho, Drill Sargeant Dizzy is in 'culling mode'.

There are different types of mistakes. If a ball carrier is fighting for extra yards and gets the ball stripped out, that's a mistake but it's something the coaching staff can work with them on. This type of mistake is different. It's just stupidity.

The thing is, this has happened so many times just in the past few years that it gets more stupid every additional time it happens. You'd think that every RB/WR in the NFL would be saying to themselves "I'm not going to let that happen to me".

Note: I'm not saying he should be cut and I don't know how the coaching staff should deal with it. I'm just saying this is different from just saying he made a mistake.

It wasn't a mistake. It was a result of a player so focused on his next act that it prevented him from doing his JOB... in a CAREER... where his contributions directly impact the livelihood of others.

That may have killed their season. Dropping a game like that in the division they are in?

I hate that Gannon apologized for hitting Demercado. He should've hit him harder, then asked the rest of the team to join in. Then cut him. That's how much I hate showboating. It's not a mistake, and it's not forgivable.

Have to agree but that's the world today. I had a baseball coach back in the day that was an absolute tyrant, but he knew his stuff. You effed up, you paid for it and he called you out. He was a great coach & I could never fathom him apologizing for something like that.

Not all mistakes are created equal. This was not an error based on effort or just not getting the job done. This was 100% avoidable and an error of "look at me" variety. It's definitely a fire-able offense. It's not something that puts any pressure on "all the other peripheral squad players".

Oh, that doesn’t sound very good. Tough teams. I have Carter when most people were grabbing Demercado but I’m not thrilled or sanguine about Carter keeping the job barely averaging three a carry. I remembered he was small, but it’s been actually him in the league for a while and he looks ever smaller and not as fast as he needs to be.

That he's a young rookie? I'm not a fan of the showboating after every play that these guys do regardless of the score. However, we can just hope that he matures. He has ability though. He'll do more good than bad in the future.

I am a fan of you on these boards. I appreciate your posts. I'm also not entirely disagreeing with your take on this one either. It was dumb. Yep. Careless. When I watch it though, it's not like he did a back flip into the endzone or a cart wheel. I didn't feel he was showboating in this super excessive way that we don't see all NFL players do. He just seemed like a kid who has played 27 games and has only scored 3 times. Excited. He then dropped to his knees almost rejoiceful. Joy. Unprofessional considering the massive mistake for sure. Fine him a 100 grand for that? Cut him? Physical abuse? Ha ha. Little much for me. Gonna be hard for him step out of the stigma of that mistake. Prolly never will. That big dude looked fifty times more explosive than Carter. This is all my opinion and I reserve the right to change this opinion through gold

I tend to exaggerate quite a bit when typing. No, I don't think he should be cut. I do think he should volunteer to pay for Gannon's fine. And him dropping the ball before crossing the line wasn't an act of someone who had a momentary lapse - it is learned behavior and he wanted to be cool. I would rather he done a flip or cartwheel after crossing into the end zone. At least with that, there is 0% chance points get taken off the board.

I ran directly across the street without looking, almost got hit by a car, and my dad saw the whole thing, as he was painting our house. In front of all my friends, he climbed down that ladder and spanked the crap out of me. I cried like a baby, both from the pain and the embarrassment of getting whaled on in front of my friends. I never called CPS, and I never ran into traffic again. I miss those days, and I never held a grudge against my dad. I deserved it.

I haven’t seen the play yet, but if dropping the ball wasn’t a result of fighting for yards and wasn’t a celebration, but an accident, then Gannon was out of line. But if it was celebrating before scoring he shouldn’t have been fined 100K and players shouldn’t have been consoling Demercado. Again, I haven’t watched it, so you guys know better than I do.

Slow it down gramps. Ha ha. That's always been kinda my point. On that run he looked like a truck and was pulling away from the secondary, while Carter looked horribly slow to me. Gonna be interesting how they play this. If Emari, in private conversations is 100% believable and truly feels horrible what do you do as a coach? Simply take your fine and move on? Decide you absolutely need to start winning. Then watch film. You'll realize quickly that Carter is gonna get you 2 yards a carry with no burst, while Emari had kinda shown he has a little burst. For us fantasy nerds, even with byes I don't see how u can start either this week. Imo

I’m really glad I didn’t have children so I didn’t have that ethical question to ask myself. I said this in another forum because what I’d like to see is character built not through emotive and angry displays that hint at violence, but instead with a demeanor that conveys stern disapproval but is also calm enough for the recipient to contemplate the message rather than feeling just fear or reprisal.

I think it’s why he wasn’t cut immediately. I roster Carter, and I know all three backs pretty well. Neither Bam Knight nor Carter are as good as Demercado can be, but Emari has to want it when he runs inside and between the tackles. I don’t know if I’ve seen that from him, and I follow this a bit (I’ve rostered Emari on and off for two years), so we will see. D’Ernest Johnson and Jermar Jefferson, formerly of Oregon State, are both on their practice squad.

2.8 yards per carry, or whatever it was (even if YPC is an imperfect measurement), will not cut it in the pros for more than two games. Carter will be phased out if that keeps up.

I haven’t seen the play yet, but if dropping the ball wasn’t a result of fighting for yards and wasn’t a celebration, but an accident, then Gannon was out of line. But if it was celebrating before scoring he shouldn’t have been fined 100K and players shouldn’t have been consoling Demercado.

he broke clear at the LOS and nobody was deep for Tennessee. He basically broke through the LOS and was gone. He started slowing down inside the 10 yd line (so much so a DB almost caught up to him) and then he dropped the ball a split second before the goaline (I am still not sure there was enough video evidence to overturn the TD call on the field). So while it wasn't an overt showboating celebration it wasn't an accident either (not like Adonai the week before that accidentally dropped the ball). He purposely dropped the ball a skosh too soon (for no apparent reason).

At whatever rate for fantasy purposes how about this wild take I got, and I really believe it to. I think he's going to make amends by giving Emari the rock a little more then he would otherwise.

And in case anyone is wondering I went banana's outbidding people for Michael Carter last week, did not add Emari, had very minor interest in him. When he fumbled my first thought frankly was "good", this should put him more in the doghouse. If it ended there I'd still feel that way but Gannon has to make up for this with some actions, not just to Emari, but to the team who I got a feeling did not care for how he handled it.

I own one share of Emari and I have no problem cutting bait. Having said that, at this point he is a minimum one week hold. Why? Carter had 18 carries for 42 yards and thats pretty much what u can expect from him, which leaves the door open for a change. Who knows how this plays out. Selfishly as a Benson owner it keeps going this way and he returns to be lead back.

This guy is as expendable as it gets in the NFL. He's a 4th string RB for ARI. After the top 2 RBs go down they sign Michael Carter and he immediately wins the starting job over Demercado. I would have cut him by now.

I think he gets another chance and will be the one to own out of him/Carter/Knight. He's definitely has the best juice out of the 3 and is the best pass catcher IMO. He's a hold for one more week to see how it shakes out.
