There are different types of mistakes. If a ball carrier is fighting for extra yards and gets the ball stripped out, that's a mistake but it's something the coaching staff can work with them on. This type of mistake is different. It's just stupidity.'We don't tolerate mistakes around here'.If trying establish a "culture"... cut him. If trying to build a safe refuge for selfish players... let him stay.
I'm sure that'll work. Demercado seemed fairly affected by what he did, I don't think it's accurate to call him selfish but hey ho, Drill Sargeant Dizzy is in 'culling mode'.
The thing is, this has happened so many times just in the past few years that it gets more stupid every additional time it happens. You'd think that every RB/WR in the NFL would be saying to themselves "I'm not going to let that happen to me".
Note: I'm not saying he should be cut and I don't know how the coaching staff should deal with it. I'm just saying this is different from just saying he made a mistake.
