RB Gado To Start (1 Viewer)

Will Sammy THE BULL be the main man, or does Wali get a look?

Texans | Dayne not expected to be activated this week - Fri Oct 20 2:04:00 a.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) Megan Manfull, John McClain and Jerome Solomon, all of the Houston Chronicle, report Houston Texans RB Ron Dayne will likely not be activated this week as he has been practicing mainly with the scout team. "We're going to keep searching and keep looking," coach Gary Kubiak said. "You can't do that when you play three guys. We have not run the ball well. Samkon had just four or five carries last week. I've got to play him. I've got to see what he can do. And Wali deserves an opportunity to come in and play. So we're going to give them a chance." Running backs Wali Lundy and Samkon Gado are expected to get most of the carries at running back.

Key
Must be a big story in Texas. It took all three of them to report this.

RB Gado, RB Lundy Sharing Reps, RB Dayne Slips?

Megan Manfull, John McClain, Jerome Solomon, Houston Chronicle - [Full Article]

After three starts RB Ron Dayne spent the majority of practice time working with the scout team. He probably won't be activated this week. Meanwhile, RB Samkon Gado and RB Wali Lundy shared repetitions with the first team. "We're going to keep searching and keep looking," HC Gary Kubiak said. "You can't do that when you play three guys. We have not run the ball well. Samkon had just four or five carries last week. I've got to play him. I've got to see what he can do. And Wali deserves an opportunity to come in and play. The ESPN crew just said Gado is definitely starting & that he will be getting the bulk of the work, as Kubiak wants his bigger back going against Jax D.

Looks like they've found the 2nd surprise starter in Houston, and this time it's.... still not Gado! Must be tough to be a Gado owner.... seriously!

Anyone considering using a Houston RB this week against JAX should just stop playing fantasy football. And I mean NOW.
This is the MORON call of the day.Wali Lundy didn't do isht for me today, oh, except throw up 93 yards, 4 rec for 15, and a TD!!!!

Not worth anything in a deep (or any) league?! :wall:

Kubiak clearly had a reason for pulling the plug early on Lundy, but it's not like he had a ton of carries. I'm curious to see how he'd do with a more prolonged audition.
Perhaps Kubiak did indeed pull the plug too early on young Wali.

Article from today's Houston Chronicle:

Seemed like Kubiak benching him wasn't due to his running ability, but the blocking/blitz aspects.

"The pro game is very complicated ... — nickel package, blitz package, protection — it gets very complicated," coach Gary Kubiak said. "I was worried about him after the first couple of weeks that the overload had slowed him down and he wasn't reacting.

"Sometimes you have to let players sit back and watch a week or two so that they can calm down. He played with great presence today. I think you'll see him get better."

OTOH-it's the type of opportunity that if he does well he could go along way towards becoming the starter.
And what has any starting RB done this year for the Texans?
but that's why he has the opportunity(or could have)
It looks like Lundy made the most of this opportunity. If he starts this week(he should) he has a good matchup against the Titans.

The ESPN crew just said Gado is definitely starting & that he will be getting the bulk of the work, until Kubiak sees that Gado is as bad as Dayne.
Good info here.
Uhh actually it was good info. Gado got the bulk of the 1st half work, was as bad as Dayne, and then got yanked for Lundy.
This made sense to me. From the Sunday Update page yesterday I wrote:
Ron Dayne is the odd man out in Houston today. He'll be inactive. The team is reporting that Samkon Gado will get the start. Wali Lundy will see time as well. As we advised our readers in the Players In The News through the week, look for the Texans to distribute the RB carries based on the game situation and which RB is most effective.
Looks like Lundy won that battle. J
