They are playing him on obvious run situations and he is running directly into the middle of a crowded line. So, not so good.

I hope for his sake that a return and maybe being fit to the end of their playoff run will be good enough to get him another contract. 4 and a bit games missed is not too bad for a RB tbh, and not anything out of the norm. Has to be considered a successful return

It's time to talk JK Dobbins. Where will he sign? I'd love to see the Broncos. Other potential spots would be Cleveland, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Chicago, and I suppose Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, but I'd rather he didn't go to those two.
Also, is he a good buy low? I sent the 2.12 rookie for him the other day in a 12 team dynasty league. What are your thoughts on him in redraft?

Steelers, Chiefs, and Bengals all make sense.
I would think the other teams all aim higher as they need a #1. Dobbins, I think, is more suited to be a COP RB, and the 3 teams I listed offer a role for that.
Redraft will entirely depend on landing spot. Could be an RB2 in the right situation, could struggle for flex value in others.

I kicked the tires on selling him a month or so ago and based on the feedback I received quickly pivoted to a hold.

Broncos and Raiders makes sense too. Sure, they will both draft a RB at some point, but how early?
In the Raiders case, probably 6th overall. Broncos probably day 2.
I got NFNL on and just as I was reading this thread I saw JK Dobbins name on the TV and they were doing some segment were they have best fits for FA's. Their ideal suggestion for Dobbins was returning to Baltimore. Terrible, had to turn it off. Even if went back to Baltimore how is that ideal for him?
As for buying him, he's not my type. I was wrong about him last year but it's concerning the Chargers don't seem overly zesty about resigning him and imagine if they come around it's going to be cheap cheap. And that concern is of course over his medicals. They took a cheap/ league minimum type deal shot on him and it worked out for them, but whatever they know about his medicals is not giving off any kind of vibe they want to make a tangible financial commitment to him. He's not someone I'd be looking to buy right now.

I think he's a good buy for a late 2nd round / early to mid 3rd round pick. He's probably better than what you wll draft at that point and if he doesn't work out you're not out much. Just my opinion of course.

Ahh, i have had Dobbins on the block but so far no offers. Admittedly only a few days.
I was assuming he wouldn't be signed until after the draft. Signing anywhere in the near term would be great. I have a win now team and a destination like Denver probably means he is a hold.

I'm reading Broncos are pursing Dobbins, but I'm not going to post anything from these suspect sources. I wouldn't be surprised however, and it would be a great landing spot for him even if they do draft a RB later in the draft. It may indicate that they wouldn't draft one early. Same goes for the signing of Engram. They may not draft a TE or RB in the first round.

FYI, there's almost zero talk on Denver local radio about Dobbins, so I'm guessing that your sources are suspect.
Since he wasn't signed in the first few days, and really since the Chargers didn't seem to be prioritizing re-signing him, seems to indicate something. Maybe it's health, maybe he wants too much money, no way to know just yet. The key here is no one made him a priority.
Now we are in a world where if he signs before the draft its a team filling a need so they don't have to spend a draft pick, but with the rookie class as loaded at RB as it supposedly is, then it makes more sense to explore spending a draft pick on a RB. Then after the draft you look at the veteran RBs to fill a hole if you couldn't fill it in the draft.

Yep, waiting also gets him out of the comp pick formula, which may be a driving factor for some in his market.

I don't know the exact timing, but it's around the draft - only unrestricted free agents signed up to that date are captured in the comp pick formula. Anyone signed after that date are exempt from the calculation.
I think it's always the Monday after the NFL draft.
how valuable is an experienced/veteran RB to a team? my Broncos don't have one. Does a veteran RB's experience help with the other RBs?
Pass protection is where the edge would likely lie. A vet typically would know the protections better than a rookie. Teams don't want their QBs getting killed obviously. I can't speak to how good Dobbins is in pass protection.
As for you second question, I'm not sure. Think that is highly dependent on the person, and really, that's what coaches are for.

I think it's the teams waiting. They'd rather a rookie on a cost-controlled contract than a $3M+ vet with a fractured wheel.

Needs to play a (nearly?) full season before being reliable enough to be a 1. Closest he came is 4 years ago and he only started 1 of 15 games.
Unreliable depth piece until then. But a #2 or #3 back, sure.
