RB Jo'Quavious “Woody” Marks, HOU (1 Viewer)

The thing that also hurts Marks is Dare Ogunbowale is back. According to Nathan Jahnke, Marks only played 40% of the snaps Sunday because Ogunbowale is back as the 3rd down back in the offense regardless of if it's a Chubb drive or a Marks drive. he only was in on 13 snaps (16%) but it divides the pie more.

I cringe every time Dare is in there. Dude is walking liability and rarely produces anything positive. He can't hold on to the ball and terrible at pass protection (all things Woody seems to excel at). Make it makes sense :hot:

Snap count up over 75%

Glowing reviews of pass protection yesterday.

81 yards and a TD

He’s the RB5 on my team, but his arrow is pointing up again. I want him to become part of all of our starting rosters.

Texans actually have a pretty favorable schedule for RBs.

Nathan jahnke - NFL Week 10 Recap: Immediate fantasy football takeaways from Sunday's games

Woody Marks takes over the Texans’ backfield: Marks played over 80% of the offensive snaps after playing less than 50% last week.

Marks had the most offensive snaps among the Texans running backs heading into this week at 232 of a possible 545, but that was only a 42.6% snap rate. Nick Chubb had played over 50% of the offensive snaps on early downs, while Dare Ogunbowale played over 50% on third downs, but Marks has been the most well-rounded. The Texans had typically kept Chubb and Marks close in snaps at the start of the game, and generally, they went with the hot hand if one of the two was playing well.

Marks started the game, marking his first NFL start. He took every snap on the first drive, as well as starting the second drive. This makes it clear this change was intentional heading into this game, rather than anything game script or hot hand related. Marks not only played 80.8% of the early-down snaps, but 70% on third downs. Ogunobwale had played at least 50% of the third-down snaps in each of the previous three weeks.

Marks ran 14 times for 63 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 18 yards. Chubb played very well in his limited time, finishing with five carries for 47 yards and a five-yard catch.

Marks will be much more deserving of consideration for fantasy starting lineups going forward, especially next week against the Tennessee Titans. Chubb should remain on fantasy rosters at least one or two more weeks, especially as the Texans have a decent schedule for running backs, making Chubb a decent handcuff option.
and that is how a backfield takeover is analyzed. Not only did the snaps increase to the amount you'd expect (60/75 snaps!), but the rotation/roles for the other backs changed. Not only did he cannibalize Chubb's role, he took some of Dare Obgunwale's role as 3rd down/2 minute back. The snaps overall and the relation to other backs is how you can tell a false start (see earlier in the thread) to yesterday.

Now, will the staff carry it over to next week? Keep in mind Nick Chubb didn't practice on Wednesday, was limited on Thursday and upgraded to full last Friday; he was dealing with a foot injury and may have not been 100%

Woody Marks took over the Texans backfield in Week 10:

+ 73.7% rush share (Chubb at 26.3%)
+ 78.3% snap share (Chubb at 14.5%)
+ 42.9% route share (Chubb at 6.1%)

If this keeps up, Marks is a locked and loaded RB2. He's creating explosives at a solid rate (4.9% is 15th among RBs). He's also been efficient in the receiving game, with a 0.20 TPRR (14th among RBs) and 1.54 YPRR (9th).

That skill-set lends itself to fantasy production.

Does great when he’s on my bench. Move him into my flex spot in a couple of leagues, and he falls flat. Ugh.

Surprised they don't run more designed screens for him. Seems to be better when he's in space and he's a great pass catcher. Just 3 targets over past 3 games combined.

Looks like I’m forced to start Woody tonight due to uncertainty of another questionable player.

Knowing what Tucker just put up at least gives me hope.

I’d be ecstatic with 50 and a TD.

The BIlls have given up the most rushing TD's and are near the bottom in rushing yards allowed. Pass D is near the top in both.

Some potential for a pretty nice national TV breakout at home.

He's in over the never to be trusted again KW3.

He should get a chance to run early while it's close - and a chance to catch passes late when it's not.

Meh…..
Wish they would pass to him more.
The guy can’t get in the end zone.
Yeah. The virtual zero in the passing game is odd. So many times he seems like he could be open in the flat. But it’s just not part of their game plan.

Also… I’m not gonna sit here and bang the drum that Chubb shouldn’t get any carries… but watching the game tonight… the times they choose to sub him in just seem odd.

It comes at the most critical portion of the game where you want your best player out there. And all the sudden they switch to Chubb. Again not saying Woody should have 100% of the share… but he should have 100% of the critical touches.

Maybe they think Chubb is their best player and most importantly has the most experience to get the job done in that situation

Chubb took the first carry in each half too. Like they were doing a little thing to defer to the vet

Maybe.

The rest of the touches and trajectory just don’t seem to paint that picture.

I probably just have sour grapes wishing for a TD or a bit more tonight from Woody.

I just see a good player that could have had a great game.

I have marks on two teams and also wish he would’ve scored but it didn’t work out. He may not become a td scorer in the nfl maybe he’s going to be a chain mover instead
