INDIANAPOLIS -- Running back Joseph Addai and defensive captain Gary Brackett were among five Colts starters who missed practice Wednesday.

The group also included Pro Bowl defensive end Dwight Freeney, who took his customary extra day of rest.

Addai was out because of an undisclosed knee injury. Brackett missed practice after hurting his back, and linebacker Clint Session missed practice with a hamstring injury. Left tackle Charlie Johnson also sat out because of a sprained right foot.

Wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez (ankle), linebacker Ramon Humber (hand) and safety Bob Sanders (biceps) didn't practice and already have been ruled out of this week's game at Denver.

Wide receiver Pierre Garcon (hamstring) and Jeff Saturday (knee surgery) did limited work.

"Joseph Addai missed Colts practice Wednesday with a knee injury.

The extent is unknown, but this is Addai's first missed practice of the season. He had arthroscopic knee surgery during the 2009 offseason. Owners should be clinging tight to Donald Brown, who's coming off one of the better games of his career. The 2009 first-round pick accounted for 88 yards and a score on 17 touches against the Giants. The Colts visit the Broncos in Week 3."

Joseph Addai (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 3 and practiced fully on Friday.ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Friday that Addai is "good to go" for Sunday's game against the Broncos, but owners will want to have Donald Brown in hand before using the Colts' starter. Colts-Broncos is a late game, not starting until 4:15PM ET. Check back Sunday afternoon for the inactives.Source: Lindsay Jones on Twitter
Joseph Addai (knee) is "good to go" for the Colts' Week 3 game against Denver, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.Mort adds that Pierre Garcon's (hamstring) status is "iffy." The light appears to have finally flipped on for 2009 first-round pick Donald Brown, so the arrow isn't pointing up for Addai's outlook over the course of the season. He is safe to use as an RB2 against a leaky Broncos defense, however.Source: Chris Mortensen on Twitter Joseph Addai-RB - Colts Sep. 23 - 5:45 pm et Joseph Addai (knee) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. While Wednesday was the first time Addai missed practice this year, he's often played fine after missing early-week work in previous years. Expect a pass-heavy attack this week against an ailing Broncos secondary.
:lmao: in a once weekly waiver league and trying to plug the knowshon hole via Donald Brown.

From Rotowire yesterday

Although Addai (knee) is questionable against Denver, he said he should be able to play this week. "I should be up. I should be fine," he told the Indianapolis Star. Analysis: Addai missed Tuesday's practice but was a full participant on Friday. The Colts previously hadn't commented on his injury, so it's reassuring to hear from Addai that he feels he can play.
