1st time I can ever remember not drafting a RB in the 1st 5 rounds. (Jefferson, Lamb, Kelce, Moore, Lamar)
3 slot in a 12 teamer. Got him as my #1 back at 6.10 (24th RB drafted)
Was not intentional... 14 RB's taken before my selection at 2.10... at that point, just went for value and didn't want to chase the position.
Could have gone Dillon/Mitchell/Dobbins/Hall/Akers at the 4/5 if I wanted to I suppose.
I don't get all the hate. He should see less people in the box with Adams there and Drake was way more of a threat for carries than Bolden or Abdullah.

Put me down for JJ being the clear 1a with another back mixing in. Abdullah isn't going to break out as the next James White 8 years or whatever into his career. JJ will get goal line and 60-75% of RB touches provided he's healthy

He went for $17 late in our draft which was quite a bargain, was willing to do up to $20 but was building my wr core up a bit

I'll take the over on 10 TDs and 1200 total yards (health permitting, of course). Raiders offense is going to be very good this year and Jacobs is going to get ~60% of a large pie of RB fantasy points. Dude is hungry for a new contract and this team is hungry for some respect.

I think there is a negative perception of him. I wasn’t targeting him and spent way too much on some young studs (chase, pitts, Javonte Williams) in a startup auction, but got him as my RB2 for $8 out of 200.

Yeah, I guess but we can literally make the "nobody knows" argument about any situation. I did in the Javonte thread recently. We can say nobody knows if Tom Brady will finally collapse, but are we betting on that outcome?
It's a game of incomplete information and pretty much all the information coming out of Las Vegas has been favorable for Jacobs. The only negative, and it isn't insignificant, is they declined his fifth year option back in March or May. Then again that means he's playing for his career payday.
He's got RB10-12 upside and a high floor too.

McDaniels will use multiple RBs. I am not suggesting JJ is locked in as an every down 300+ touch monster. 13-16 touches per game seems about right. That's a range of 221-272 touches, with a solid shot at double digit TDs at either end of that range.
I don't see a Rhamondre Stevenson on the roster and even if there were Stevenson wasn't relevant until Harris missed the Cleveland game.
Zamir bears watching, I am not sure what to think of him. Some I'm the Raiders thread think he could be quite good calling him a guy who likes to initiate contact and drive piles forward. Others say he sees so much contact because he lacks the vision and moves to avoid it. He's also mostly an unknown as a receiver. Jacobs can catch, he gets skinny in the hole and always seems to fall forward after initial contact too.
Abdullah and/or Bolden will probably assume some sort of off-brand James White-lite role (like really off brand and really lite) taking the two minute offense and some obvious passing downs. They'll get some carries but neither is going to lead this offense or challenge Jacobs for the lead role.

Obviously I am beating the drum for Jacobs in here but if I were a redraft owner, sadly I'm not, and he gets off to a good start I am probably trying to move him somewhere around mid-season. He always seems to be a little banged up, he's played 13, 15 & 14 games, the last three seasons. And as the season wears on Zamir's fresh legs and familiarity with the offense becomes a bigger threat.
I would track every owner in my league that I think is thin at RB, or any RB injury in general, and be ready to start making offers with Jacobs as the main piece from your end.

Except that McDaniels actually said it and he mentioned 4 guys that would be in the rotation. Now, does that mean it actually happens? Not necessarily but you can't say there's been no bad news about Jacobs when that actually was said by the HC.

Really, do honestly think I put in all that effort and analysis to troll you?
I have never said it wouldn't be a committee approach. But a committee obviously doesn't mean each guy gets exactly 25% of the opportunities. I have given detailed breakdowns of how I see that committee touch distribution playing out. I have talked about McDaniels history with other committees in New England.
I am literally approaching the topic of a committee in Las Vegas with detailed analysis and focus.

J Jacobs was in RBBC last year and still finished as RB13 in PPR leagues. He is the new M Ingram.
Every year people have their doubts and every year he just finishes higher than where you drafted him.
B Bolden is a special teams guy and A Abdullah is NOTHING special. Neither of those guys are going to
get K Drake 2021 numbers. So it boils down to the rookie seeing some playing time.

Very quiet here in the Josh Jacobs thread after week 1. I guess 73 yards and 0 TD is kind of a fantasy non-event. Not enough points to help fantasy teams out much but not enough of a disaster to make anyone hate post.
Long term I see week 1 as more positive for Jacobs than negative. Certainly there were discouraging data points. The volume was bad. The o-line play and run blocking didn’t look improved from last season. And the Raiders didn’t look like an especially good or well-prepared team.
But Jacobs looked pretty great on his limited touches. It wasn’t a big sample but some of those runs were impressive enough to make me think Jacobs poor tape from early last season was him fighting through injury and now he’s back to full health. I didn’t see any other Raiders back play close to Jacobs’ level on Sunday. I know Zamir White has his supporters but he would have to a) see the field and b) play at a pretty high level to be any kind of threat to this version of Josh Jacobs. My takeaway from week 1 is a modest uptick in value for Jacobs in redraft and a larger value boost in dynasty where maybe he can escape to a better team and/or role in 2023.

Jacobs is clearly the lead back for the Raiders and Bolden has a hamstring issue. It's a tough situation only because the offensive line is bottom five in the league (and they may be without their starting center this week). But for opportunity, Jacobs is in the top half of the league.

The Raiders were behind most of the game, so 10 touches instead of 18-20. But he looked explosive to me. I think he’s an RB2, borderline RB1 going forward. I may be overly optimistic but what the hell?

Having lived through the careers of people like Marshawn Lynch, Thomas Jones, and Cedric Benson, it really feels like Jacobs is a quality starting back at that stage of his career where FF players are just bored of him. He's not elite enough to dominate on a weak team, but too good to just disappear. Fully expecting him to churn out so more good seasons. In agreement with others that a change of scenery may be ideal, hopefully to an offense that will cater to his strengths a bit more. My rough estimation is that he's approximately a top 15 back in the league. If you look around at the rosters, there are plenty of other places where he could go and be the day one starter. Solid hold/buy in dynasty for me. I had a chance to get Lynch and later Benson for dirt cheap at a time in their careers when they were ice cold product, and I always regretted passing. Staying the course on this one.
Still expecting a solid season for him in LV when the dust settles. Combination of talent and opportunity dictates a top ~15-20 type season again.

With Covid still lurking, I'm wondering if that's what he has. What's the latest NFL protocol if so? Could he still play Sunday if he's feeling better and tests negative on gameday?

Josh Jacobs (illness) is active for Week 3 against the Titans.
Jacobs was held out of practice throughout the week due to an illness and eventually traveled separately from the team to Tennessee. He worked out on the field this morning and was deemed ready to play. Expect Jacobs to fill his standard early-down role for a Josh McDaniels offense that doesn't utilize runnings backs heavily through the air. That said, fantasy managers can confidently insert Jacobs into their starting lineup for Week 3.
