RB Justice Hill, BAL (1 Viewer)

Think we now have 4 RBs who have looked decent post-Achilles? Akers, Foreman, Hill & Robinson. Anyone else?

As you referenced on some players you mentioned that play different positions we saw Demaryius Thomas over 10 years ago make ago and Emmanuel Sanders both return to play effectively less then 12 months after achilles surgery.

What was kind of odd, and good, is we just went a long time without many RB's tearing their achilles. One of the few who did was Foster and it was pretty much the end for him but he was also 30 and pretty much near the end anyway. I think, and what I've been saying in threads here since Akers went down, was that people were to quick to assume RB's were done without having much in the way of recent examples were advancements in achilles procedures were no longer the death knell to careers they were once assumed to be. Not that it's not a serious injury that could ruin careers, I just thought people were to quick to assume that was the case.

Another nail in the coffin for the notion that RB's are done after achilles injuries.
I love this line of thinking. I think it may be correct but I also wonder if there is simply a problem of misreporting the nature of the Achilles injury. I imagine there is a big difference between tearing the tendon, where it is still attached and rupturing it entirely, where the whole tendon separates from the bone.

I have had difficulty trying to find reliable information about guys like Akers & Robinson. Haven't even tried for Hill.

Ravens coach Jim Harbaugh said RB Justice Hill (hamstring) might be out "for a little bit."

"I think we dodged a bullet on that. It's not a serious hamstring," Harbaugh said. "It's not going to be one of those long-term hamstrings, they say." Hill should be considered questionable for this week, which would leave J.K. Dobbins with Kenyan Drake and Mike Davis behind him against the Bengals on Sunday Night Football.

Off the injury report. Anything to see here with Dobbins out again? Gus coming back, too, and Drake is obviously there. Seems like a mess but I’m not the only desperate one out there, I’m sure.

I’m taking a flyer for the week. He looked good before hit the injury report and I’m sorry but I can’t buy into Drake.

If you happened to be picking between Hill and Drake for a flex spot this week, you favor Hill?

Picked him up, but don't have faith in the RBBBBBBC in Balt.
Prediction = 5 touches, 20 yards Nothing of substance unless Drake goes down.

No, Hill is more a guy if you can afford to hold a spot to see what happens. Drake seems like the better play if you need points this weekend. With Drake, he seems setup for opportunity this week but we've seen a lot pf Drake and he's near the end of his career. It's hard for me to see much multi week upside. There just may be a little untapped juice in Hill since he is still only 24.

I might have to start this guy in one league. He or Caleb Huntley.

Missing Conner, D. Harris, others. Tough injury sledding. 6-0 team. Just jinxed it, though, merely by saying it.

Let's ride, Justice!

As for everything else, I think Harbaugh and staff are a bit loyal to this guy, but I see him as a twelve or so touch guy. They'll never say it, but he came into the league under 200 lbs. and that's a major red flag for any thoughts of him becoming a workhorse back. It'll be what he does with those twelve touches that will determine whether or not he's usable. Also, if Drake is ineffective that would help, but he sure looked effective last week.

In other words, what ilov80s said above will hold true unless:

Harbaugh and co. go with their praise of Hill this year and stick with loyalty
Drake is ineffective and cedes work because of that

But really, Drake will likely get the first shot at this in the upcoming week.

Hill's been a victim of bad luck - both on the injury and timing fronts. Edwards emergence and the drafting of Dobbins pretty much sealed his fate. Plus, his blitz pickups left something to be desired, which is a no-no in Charm City. If you're a DB/LB/RB/WR on Baltimore and won't be seeing much playing time on offense or defense, you'd better shine on special teams. Hill, to his credit, did that. That's why the coaches are loyal to him.

It's damned shame, because timing finally broke his way this season and he looked really good in his last game. I was hoping, for his sake, he'd be able to show other teams enough to go to a spot where he could get more run on offense if it wasn't going to happen in Baltimore.

As for this week....... Cleveland's run defense has been horrible so far. IMO, Drake is just-a-guy, but JAGs can do well in this offense. If forced to start one of the two this week, I'd go Drake. But, if 100%, it wouldn't surprise me to see Hill pop a long run or two.

Justice Hill had five rushes for 26 yards in the Ravens' Week 7 win against the Browns.

Returning from a hamstring injury, Hill out-snapped Kenyan Drake, but it was Drake who had 11 carries against Cleveland. Gus Edwards, in his season debut following a 2021 knee injury, led all Baltimore backs with 16 rushes. None of the Ravens running backs logged a reception as Lamar Jackson threw a meager 16 passes. Hill would only be interesting for fantasy purposes if Edwards misses time. He can be stashed in deeper formats.

Justice Hill caught both targets for 10 yards in the Ravens' Wild Card loss to the Bengals.

Hill beat out Kenyan Drake for the passing down specialist role in the Ravens offense to end the season but is scheduled to become a free agent when the new league year starts in the Spring. With J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards still under contract, Hill could be on the move this offseason for a team looking for a pass game specialist that can also play special teams.

Ravens RB2?
“Justice Hill starts for the Ravens: Hill received every snap on the first two drives before Gus Edwards received his first offensive snaps.-Edwards left Wednesday’s practice early, so there is a chance him playing after Hill if simply Hill has practiced more.-Not that we can take much stock in the official depth charts, but Edwards was listed first on the depth chart earlier in the week, followed by J.K. Dobbins and Hill.-There is also a chance Hill has legitimately passed Edwards on the depth chart as a better fit for the Ravens’ offense.-Hill broke a 37-yard run during his time, which could lead to more opportunities down the road.-For now, this is simply a situation to monitor”

Have to wait and see what the Dobbins injury is, but he looks shifty and quick.
Might be a hot pickup on the WW this week.

Justice Hill rushed eight times for nine yards and two touchdowns in the Ravens’ Week 1 win over the Texans.

Both of Hill’s touchdowns came after J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) left the game. If not for his two touchdowns and the injury to Dobbins we would be completely ignoring Hill heading into Week 2. Instead, he’s at least somewhat a priority add on waivers this week, but he’ll likely find himself in a two-way committee with Gus Edwards. Fantasy managers should by no means be blowing all of their FAAB or using a high waiver priority on Hill at this point.

Justice Hill out-snapped Gus Edwards 38 to 32 today. Hill had all three targets that the backfield ended up seeing.

I don't think Melvin Gordon saw a snap... definitely wasn't in the boxscore. Suddenly Hill appears to have the best chance at being the RB1 in Baltimore.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Ravens RB Justice Hill is dealing with a turf toe injury that “could keep him out of the Week 3 matchup with the Colts.”
Hill did not practice today and looks like a long-shot to suit up on Sunday. The Ravens signed Kenyan Drake to their practice squad as a potential insurance option. He will likely be called up to the active roster on Saturday. Assuming Hill can’t go, Gus Edwards could handle the bulk of Baltimore’s work between the tackle. He will sit on the RB2/3 border if Hill is ruled out.

Ravens RB Justice Hill (toe) has been ruled out for Week 3 against the Colts.

Hill was absent from all three practices this week, and the Ravens signed Kenyan Drake on Wednesday, signaling that Hill was unlikely to play on Sunday. Hill’s absence will make the Ravens backfield a weird one to rely on for fantasy purposes. Melvin Gordon was active in Week 2 but didn’t receive a touch, and Drake only recently joined the team but spent the preseason with the Colts. Gus Edwards feels like the only running back on this team to trust in Week 3, and will be a touchdown dependent RB2/RB3.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Ravens RB Justice Hill is expected to play against the Browns in Week 4.
Hill missed Week 3 due to a turf toe injury, but returned to practice this week. Melvin Gordon is also likely to get another call-up from the Ravens practice squad. Gus Edwards is the most trustworthy Ravens back and Hill has RB3-value, but the Baltimore backfield is a messy for fantasy.
