RB Kareem Hunt, KC (3 Viewers)

Case in point is the Hunt/Mixon comparisons. Right now, it's not even close.

Mixon may partially close the gap at some point, but Hunt not only looks like the superior talent, but is in a much better situation.

I am not an owner, but there is not one other player I would trade away Hunt for in either a re-draft or dynasty league.

Don’t expect the Chiefs to stop giving the ball to star rookie running back Kareem Hunt anytime soon.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid was asked Monday if the Chiefs have to be careful with how much they work they give the 5-foot-10, 208-pound Hunt — who leads in the NFL in rushing and is on pace to record 299 touches this season. Reid said that’s not a consideration.

 
Weekly trade offer from owner who has been trying to sell me Hunt since the injury to Ware. 

I give Aaron Rodger, an early 2018 1st, a late 2018 1st, Dalvin Cook. 

I get Big Ben, and Hunt. 

Some people don't give up.

Currently Denver is the #1 run defense in the league, Hunt has to play them twice still (though one is week 17).  He also plays this Skins this weekend, who believe it or not are the #2 run defense in the league.  If my MFL league stats are any indication, Hunt is the one with the tougher remaining schedule.

I'm not saying Hunt will do poorly, by any means.  Just saying that a straight up trade for Gurley is the best I've seen yet.  I've seen folks offering Hunt for top WRs, but not sure if any went through.

As a Hunt owner I'm just not sure why a Gurley deal would make sense.

i could see being stacked at RB and needing a WR. 

But a RB/RB in a 1:1 swap is nonsensical to me. 

 
For insight on how I value him in my situations (since tradability is being discussed): 

On one team (12T PPR) I have Hunt (Who i cuffed at 14.06 with my R16 keeper Ware in a VERY early draft) paired with Zeke (1.07 pick prior to suspension talk).... he's literally untradeable as he will be my keeper next year in 13th Round (Keep any one player one round earlier than you drafted them) 

On another team (10T PPR) I grabbed him at 7.01 (again, early draft) to go with DJohnson (1.01) and McCoy (kept at 5.01) and got Martin at 9.01 as well. I put DJ in IR slot and grabbed Cohen ($24 FAAB). I will likely trade McCoy away for a stud WR in a few weeks once Martin settles in, and ride Hunt/Martin until DJ comes off IR. We keep one player drafted 5th Round or higher in the round we got them, so Hunt will be my 7th round keeper next year... making him virtually untradeable in that league as well. 

So... for me.... Ware is absolutely untradeable. Partially because he might be the best FF player in the NFL.... and partially because of incredible keeper value going forward. The guys in my league know that, and they're not even trying to send offers.

I know it's early in Hunt's career, but the only RB I'd consider trading straight-up for him is DJ. DJ is the only RB that has shown to have better overall ability, IMO.

As good as DJ has been, he's been hampered by subpar OL play. When Arizona gets their act together on the OL, DJ could break every record in the book.

Therefore, as it stands now, DJ is the only RB I'd even consider for Hunt straight-up. The NFL & especially FF is fluid so things could change. Who knows, but that's what I'm feeling right now.

Honestly? No way he holds this pace (obviously)... I could see 1.25 TD/g rate down the stretch... I think 18-20 TD (12-14 TD over the next 13 games) is a reasonable window assuming no dramatic changes in health for him or surrounding personnel. I think his ceiling could be as high as 25 if the stars align

I think he's a lock for 20. 

Said it after game 2. I'll say it again now. Opportunity, ability. If the OL & Hunt's health holds up, you can put bow on 20 TDs.

He's on pace for way more than 20.  So i agree - he won't have 32 scores.

but 20 seems downright reasonable at this point. He hasn't even had as many RZ opportunities as I'd expect him to. 3 of his scores were from midfield or further.  :shock:

I agree with this. He isn't going to keep averaging 2 TDs a week and 8.5 YPC, but there is no reason he shouldn't hit 18-20 scores and a #### ton of yards. Love having this guy. :yes:

Strictly for comparison sake to maybe bring some of the hype back to realistic expectation levels:

Billy Sims (really the only comp) through four games: 745 YFS, 6 TDs

Billy Sims last twelve games: 1179 YFS, 10 TDs

I mean, sheesh, those last 3 months were still pretty darn good. Just not as torrid as the first four weeks when the Lions went 4-0 (5-7 thereafter.)

#20 was a pretty special player. As is Hunt; I just think he is in line for some regression.

 
Obviously Hunt is going to slowly come down the rest of the way -- I think anyone not expecting that is just being silly. BUT, I will say this: the Chiefs are not going to lose a bunch of games after some kind of fluky hot start like that Lions team - this is a team that's won 25 of its last 29 regular season games. And thus a huge part of Hunt's appeal - the situation. As long as KC still has Reid and plays like it has for the last X years, Hunt is going to get lots of touches and, more importantly, lots of chances to score. I said this before the season. (Hilariously one of big arguments I kept meeting was that the Chiefs have CHARCANDRICK WEST to steal carries - OH NOooOoOO1!  :lmao: )

West in no way puts KHunt in jeopardy. 

I feel pretty confident in saying I've never loved a KHunt this much. :wub:  

 
I don't even have West as a handcuff because he won't be able to approach the numbers Hunt puts up. Not at all like Williams two years ago with Bell.

 
Hunt's not getting as much passing down work as I'd like to see out of a #1 RB. I thought after the Pats game and what he did thru the air he'd be a three down back. He comes off the field to much on third downs. He's not going to score from 50 out every game and if he didn't last week his day would have been average. I'm looking to trade him for AB.

He came off the field twice last week. He hasn't had a lot of receptions because he keeps breaking 50+ yard scores. Kinda shortens drives a bit. 

He's certainly not conceding to West. The 25 yard receiving TD by west was immediately after a long chunk of yardage by Hunt.

i think this is a bit inaccurate - Hunt will get plenty of receptions if the game script calls for it. If KC has the lead, expect him to grind it out on the ground.

Take out his big TD run (seems legit) and he has 110 yards on 17 touches. Not a bad floor if you ask me. 

And for the 50-80 yard TDs he's not gonna get in future, I'll bet he scores a healthy dose of 1-yarders which he hasn't so far. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather my back get points through Hunt's type of production than someone like Melvin Gordon or any back that relies on being forcefed at the goal line. 

 
Can you believe we have to wait until Monday night to watch Hunt play this week? It's so much fun to watch him play, tomorrow is going to stink. 

I can't even imagine what it's going to be like on his bye week. I might actually have to watch my favorite team play.

He's conceding snaps to West. It's inexplicable of course, but he is. West's snap counts have been 35%, 21% and 26%.

I wasn't talking about carries, I was talking about snaps. But for all intents and purposes Bell, Gurley and Zeke see 100% of their team's backfield utilization. There are few but they exist.

Hunt's average utilization (18.7) is the 14th most and average snap percentage (67%) is the 14th most of all RBs.

True - and I believe Dalvin Cook & Ty Montgomery are up there %-wise too.

i was responding to the suggestion/assertion that West's receiving role was increasing at Hunt's expense (e.g. "Conceding") when the data doesn't seem to bear that out.

I get my numbers from my spreadsheet.

I don't think West has an actual role as in I don't think he's really going to contribute to the box score any time soon. But him being on the field does technically come at the expense of Hunt, even if they don't utilize West. He's in on situations you'd rather see Hunt. Like I said I think it's inexplicable, because I'm sure opposing defenses unpucker their #######s when Hunt is replaced by West but it is what it is. I can only assume it's a pass pro thing but I don't have any stats to back that up.

I don't think it's pass pro. From what I've seen Hunt is as good if not better than West.

seems to be when Hunt needs a blow (as the expression goes) - Hunt breaks a big run, or has had a few carries in a row. 

Reid seems to like to keep Hunt fresh for the 4th so they can salt a lead away. 

Not coincedentally that's when he seems to break big gains as well. He's fresher than the D. 

If there's a rhyme or reason to it, that's what I think it might be.
