RB Kenneth Walker III - SEA (4 Viewers)

There have been so many great RB's in the history books. Then there's a tier of backs like Riggins, Brandon Jacobs and I put Walker in that category. There are so many others but this guy just wears defenses down as the game goes on. He's in the NFL but I believe he under-rated as he's close to elite. Staying healthy is a key factor which he has not been throughout his career so that will hold him back. Long story short, he is fun to watch.

Just when I thought Walker took control of the backfield and was looking great, he gets injured and Charbs looked pretty good at the end of week 1. 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
I don't own Walker in any leagues - wish I did, but I think he has always had the backfield. I do own Charbs (I think he is a decent back too) but this is still Walker's backfield.

I will say his little nagging injuries over his couple years have been a bit frustrating. Wonder if there is any opportunity to buy Walker in dynasty/keeper leagues and what it might cost. I still think it would be expensive but maybe I send some offers out.

this could be who he is- achane type who is always hurt now and then. Hence why Carroll drafted Charbs or the GM did. Always good to have a solid compliment or even a starter which charbs could start for teams

Are you talking about Kenneth walker?

Riggins and jacobs were power backs.

Walker is a shifty elusive back. His style isn’t to bang and wear down defenses.
I've always seen Walker as very similar to a young Dalvin Cook.

I’ve had trouble coming up with a comp for him but young Dalvin Cook style is a good one.

Good call.

Injured a lot, but can be good when he isn't?

I bought him for Zay Flowers yesterday

Well, unfortunately, I think this is an injury to worry about. He claimed he was all good after the game but hasn't been seen doing anything since.

The fact Charbs seems like a decent backup and it should be a game they can win without Walker, I doubt we see him in week 2.

The injury news is disappointing given that it looks like KWIII was potentially poised for a great season:

Jacob Gibbs
Kenneth Walker's percentage of rushes vs. light boxes:

2022 - 38%
2023 - 43%
2024 - 70% *first season with Ryan Grubb calling plays

📈Rushes vs. light boxes = 24% more efficient

What the heck is a light box?

I'm going with

6 = light
7 = normal
8+ = stacked

It's actually hard to think of a style comparison, which is weird because his game is fairly prototypical. Hybrid back with a nice blend of speed, cuts, and power. I don't see Dalvin Cook. Walker is more of a banger. I think he's in the ballpark of Gore, Ingram, and Jacobs. Smaller than those three, yet with better speed. The good news is that he's clearly better than Charbs. If Walker misses time, I don't think there's much risk of him losing the job.

He really looked sharp in week one, like a guy who could be on the cusp of a big season. Let's hope for a quick recovery.

Nice. I didn’t even relate that term to “stacked box” which now makes total sense. Thanks.

How about DeAngelo Williams?

I feel like Williams was just Tomlinson with a little less juice, but anyway we're talking in circles now.

Bottom line: Walker is really good and when he gets the ball, good things happen.

I'm not a doctor, but oblique doesn't seem like a season-ending type of thing. Worst case maybe a week or two?

I guess we see why they drafted Charbs now. He’s not taking the job from KW3, but they need a serviceable guy to fill in when he inevitably misses games.

Any speculation how long KW3 will be out?

Is this a 1 week or multi week thing?

Short-term IR coming... almost certain... just speculation though (as requested).

Google told me KW3 missed 2 games last year and most of a 3rd with an oblique.
Yeah, and tight lipped injury reporting McDonald at least gave us a little bone and said he was improving.

No IR.

Think he'll play in next week or two.

I made sure to get Charbs where I have Walker but this still sucks. Personally think Walker is a much better RB when healthy. He just slices and dices up defenses.

I drafted KWIII in 4 leagues, but missed Charbs in every one.

From what I've been seeing, he might only miss the 1 week. Obliques can be tricky, but Walker is a tough dude, and this one didn't sound that severe.

Fingers crossed we get good updates from practice this week.

Looks like he won't play so Charb big upgrade. Who becomes main backup now?

McIntosh
Ooh, he's on a TS of mine.
It's reported now that Seattle is taking extreme caution with Walkers injury. Could be a multi week thing. Sigh.
I didn't see that - who's reporting it?
@rapsheet though it's from 3rd party accounts like Sleeper and Underdog saying Rap said this. I don't see a tweet from Rap on it. Maybe it was a TV spot.

It was a TV spot, I heard it. Put my confidence down a little Walker would be back week 3 but it was a pretty soft report so I'm still holding out hope.
