RB Kenyan Drake, Retired (2 Viewers)

Rotoworld:

Kenyan Drake - RB -  Dolphins

The Dolphins' Week 1 depth lists Kenyan Drake "or" Frank Gore as the starter at running back.

It's semantics. Coach Adam Gase recently said "hopefully" Drake would get 15-20 carries and 6-8 targets per game. It's quite possible Gore draws the occasional "start" based on the package for the first play, but Drake should lead the backfield in both snaps and touches, hopefully by a significant margin. The Dolphins will be wasting their time if they feature Gore at Drake's expense.

I'll tell ya how it ends. It ends with me winning a couple of leagues because of the mighty Drake.
I hope so because he was a guy I wanted nothing to do with a month ago but now he's on both of the teams I care about. It just seemed like nobody I drafted with wanted him and he fell pretty far.

I'd lean Drake, due to the higher ceiling.  Big fan of both, but Drake is clearly more explosive, and better in the passing game.
Exactly how my friend sees it. Probably leaning Collins as a safer pick and but Drake is the much more exciting pick for sure.

My friend is close to the 4/5 turn so hopefully I...he gets them both.

What happened today?
no idea. This was the match-up of all match-ups to have a good game. Playing at home against a team traveling East, OAK bottom three in run defense and also bottom three in defending pass-catching backs. And Drake puts up this stinker.

He's not being used much, but he's not playing very well either. The lack of targets suck too.

He had 5 carries. He was at 3 carries for most of the game. I'm pretty positive you can't tell anything good or bad on that number of carries. There's something in the water in Miami that causes lopsided playcalling.

Of course they won, so it was brilliant.

Drake is terrible.
BS. I was at the game. The Dolphins simply could not run block today. Quite simple.

The Rhythm of the game was not running the football. The Raiders took away the flats and the run game.

We won the game on a down field throw and catch (I believe over 40 yards) from Tannehill to Stills, a trick play where Wilson threw a TD, and a reverse running play to Wilson.  We had to get creative to off-set the aggressive Raiders defense today. They were beating the crap out of our OL and beating them off the ball all day.

The Raiders simply shut down the running game and if not for some creative play calling and a great INT from Howard to swing the momentum....we would have lost.

Drake is a damn good back. And he will have much better days. But if you're not watching the game (I was there) and simply reading box scores....you don’t know jack.

fair enough. Props to Gase.

I don't care if it's coaching, playcalling, run blocking.......there are plenty of RB's putting up better stats. He's been a bust. Period.

As has been pointed out, the game script wasn’t great for Drake and the running game today. Miami made a bunch of big plays and were out-possessed like 40 minutes to 20. I would have liked to see him more involved in the passing game, but Miami only ran 36 plays in the game. Better days ahead for Drake.

Were you at the game?

Can’t wait for his 30 point game next week. Sucks to see the low usage but they were winning so not like what they ended up doing was bad in the end. Wish they would get him more involved in the passing game tho

He was in on passing downs....even in the slot. Just was not his day.

The Raiders were well aware of him and made sure to bottle him up.

Yes. I was. Saw every play. We barely had the ball today. Incredible win. Raiders were mauling our OL.
I remember Gruden talking about Drake's speed throughout the week so he was definitely worried about containing him. Made Tannehill beat him... or I guess, Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant lol

Yeah they really made a point to take Drake out of the game. But our other two speed demons made them pay. It was awesome to watch.

After Lindsay got ejected with 2 points to his name I thought I was gonna hate myself for starting him over Drake. On to better weeks.

Definitely ownership frustration is at play with my perspective.
Ownership frustration plagues objectivity in analysis of actual you know......football strategy. The shark pool is infested with this type of posting.

If you post about the why...people simply don’t want to believe it. It’s more like “he sucks, he ruined my team”.

LOL.

Fantasy football has actually......ruined real football analysis. Everything is based on can he get me fantasy points. #### the team...screw what the coaches are doing...why is he not getting the ball? LOL. It has gotten so freaking old.

But then again this is a fantasy message board. So back to fantasy......Drake will be fine. By year end a top 10 PPR RB.

snaps    K Drake RB 29 66%      F Gore RB 16 36%

Targets      Drake  - 4  second most on the team.

Gase is going with a matchup mentality.  Not force feeding anyone.

Some of the analysis and insight in the last page of posts is really interesting.  I think Drake will be ok over the course of the season.  But I am starting to contemplate benching him for one of my solid WRs like Godwin, Allison, callaway, or Lockett. I’m in a standard scoring league.  So his 4 receptions mean nothing.

He goes up against the pats this week which, on paper, is a good matchup.  But how can we trust him with the minimal usage thus far?  Gase quickly abandons the run.

In a standard league his value is far less. I would be looking for better options. He is a not a TD guy. His production comes from big plays and the passing game. I think he will be used a lot this Sunday however. I expect for the Dolphins to have any chance they will need to get Drake and Gore a combined 27-30 touches. If they do that we will have a 4-0 start and Drake and Gore should combine for over 150 yards of offense alone with a couple of TD’s. This is the week the Dolphins must commit to the ground game and screen game.

Bro, the Fins simply aren't going to win this week.  No chance.
