RB Kerryon Johnson, Free Agent (3 Viewers)

This thread just got serious.  EBF and ZWK posting in here.

Excitement building for young K-Jo
K-Jo?  Really, that is what we are going to roll with?  Sounds too much like J-Lo.....Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got....I'm still Kerryon from the block.

Got him last night in the 7th round of a full point ppr money draft as my rb4.  At that price I'm happy to take the gamble.  He might start slow but I think as the year goes along he'll get the majority of the work.  I view Riddick and Blount as specialists at this point.
Hang on, you view Riddick and Blount as no major threat, but are worried about Alfred Blue in HOU?

Yeah?

People saying Blount on the goal line.. he had one of the worst goal line scoring  petecentages in the league last year on one of the top olines...
does this really mean much? You dont have 18 tds in a season by being bad at the goalline. Phi could have just been a bad fit.
Maybe the team around him had something to do with the number of opportunities, as well as his success rate that year.

The reason I like Ingram is for trading. He is one of the few players almost guaranteed to increase in value. There is almost no way he can lose value over the first few weeks and once you've taken the cost of holding him, he can be traded to a team desperate for RB help around week 4. You are almost sure to get back better value than what you paid for him.
Suspended players are key to gaining edges in leagues where most of your league-mates write them off immediately...
Replacement value for the first 4 weeks for guys like edelman and ingram will not be hard and then you will have these guys (fresher and more ready to produce) for the money weeks down the stretch or be able to sell them for a high return on investment.

Generally for a 4 game suspension knock players down 2-3 rounds from their pre suspension ADP and heavily target them. Also this year it would be a great idea to pair kamara and ingram for a discount and lock down the saints backfield in case of injury.

Long story short: EMBRACE SUSPENSION DISCOUNTS IF POSSIBLE

Doug Martin says hi.

Lions OC Jim Bob Cooter said he'll let rookie Kerryon Johnson's role develop and define itself based on his play early this season.

Cooter said he liked what he saw from the second-rounder in the preseason when Johnson rushed 15 times for 68 scoreless yards (4.5 YPC) and caught all five of his targets for 43 yards. The Lions are expected to use a committee approach in the backfield initially with Johnson the one most likely to see his role grow during the year. LeGarrette Blount is a threat to Johnson's touchdowns.

Not a lot of action to this thread. Hopefully that changes at end of day.

Anyone else rolling the dice? Thanks to Ryan vs Rodgers matchup I need to take some chances in second flex and I'm thinking of sticking him in there.

Any Detroit homers have insight into teams plans with him? I know it's RBBC on surface, but I kind of feel they might have been rope-a-doping with him in preseason and keeping cards closer to their vest.

Wishful thinking, IMO.  He'll get 2/3rds of 1st and 2nd down.  Riddick gets 3rd. Blount gets GL and short ydge.  Abdullah to spell and do kick returns.

IMO of course.

As a lions fan I can tell you that we won’t know any more at the end of the day unfortunately.

Hard to predict imo. The usage was all over in preseason, and we have a coach that watched lots of patriot games. I think this will be a classic “one will be worth playing but good luck telling who” situation. In the redraft where I own him he’s sitting out this week at the moment.

This seems really well stated in terms of what to expect.

The opportunity is still there.  Blount is not an insurmountable obstacle, and really, neither is Riddick.

If he's the goods, and shows well, he could be a monster in terms of percentage.  Blount and Riddick are both one-dimensional, so I am sure the Lions want a guy in there who isn't an obvious receiver, or battering ram.

I dunno about him, I couldn't get a feel watching that weird Auburn offense.

I wasn't a hug fan, but I could see his value taking a big jump in September.

What makes you so sure? Abdullah is an extremely competent receiver, yet they used him almost exclusively as a battering ram. It was puzzling.

I am high on Kerryon in dynasty but I think he is merely a desperation play this weekend.  I think it will take some time for his role to develop.

Well, had Bell ready to go but KJ in for him now. Not excited at the prospects but have Aaron Jones and Ingram so no other choice.

ETA: Actually I lied - Cohen in over him.

He didn't get much of a chance to shine, but it was noticeable when he was on the field. Just a superior overall athlete to Blount and Theo. I have to think by mid-season he's working his way to 50% of the time share.

The good news is Patricia is of the BB tree which does not genuflect to vets a la Fox, Fisher and other dinosaurs. So he'll play whoever gives him the best chance to win. Obviously any Blount injury hastens the timeline.

I was happy with what I saw.

I knew what this meant because I feel like I've heard Sam Harris say "genuflect at the alter" like 20 times.

I thought Kerryon looked better than Blount but if DET could get stomped by NYJ at home like that then I'm afraid Riddick is the only one of these dudes who is going to hold any value in the short-term. Mid/long-term, when DET realizes the season is lost, maybe they'll funnel touches through Kerryon to see exactly what they have in their 2nd rounder.

Kerryon Johnson rolled to 43 yards on eight carries while adding five catches for 23 yards on six targets Sunday in the Lions’ Week 2 loss to San Francisco.

Johnson was the most impressive of Detroit’s three ball-carriers on Sunday, though game script dictated a pass-heavy approach with the Lions playing from behind most of the afternoon. The rookie led Detroit’s backfield with 13 touches, which is five more than he saw against the Jets in Week 1. It’s likely Johnson will eventually emerge as the Lions’ lead back but for the moment, he remains locked in a timeshare with power back LeGarrette Blount and pass-catcher Theo Riddick. Until that changes, the rookie will be tough to employ for fantasy purposes. We’ll see what he can muster next week against New England.

This guy is the complete package. Set him loose overweight bearded lady!
Just a matter of time. He was the minority majority in snaps (47%). If they can win a game, he just might emerge. But we're going to have to keep seeing 2 yard dump off passes to Riddick while they are losing.

I thought Riddick got dinged up in the last game?
