RB Le'Veon Bell, FA (3 Viewers)

He's looked great all night.  I'm not sure what folks were watching.

And he's got 22 touches to Deangelo's 3.

A TD would have been nice but he can save those for future weeks.

Welcome back!
He always looks great when he plays.  He's just a great RB.

Yeah, I don't know if I've ever seen someone who runs quite like him style wise.

He's a bigger RB but has great feet and perhaps the best patience I've ever seen.  Not a burner or a power back but just an all around special RB who is great in the passing game as well.

Happy I grabbed Bell at # 6 in two PPR leagues.  Took Deangelo in 7th round in both and that worked out well.  Bell looks like the # 1 RB going forward to me in that offense.

Leads league in rushing first week back. Back to work, standard procedure. #1 RB. He looked so fluid on his runs like he's almost toying with defenders and waiting for them to commit to fill a gap then he would then burst into the other gap. BIg difference between him and those guys that just run to a gap as fast as they can when handed the ball. Nobody has more patience, but to get that kind of patience you need to have success and confidence in your abilities. He's in just beginning the sweet spot right now of his career. A lot of young RBs with no vision would be doing themselves a favor watching Bell work.

Agreed.  At 24 Bell should just be entering his prime.  His past violations of league drug policy and two serious knee injuries make him a riskier long term investment than he should be for the Steelers/other NFL teams and in FF.

But there is no doubt in my mind that he is the best all around RB in football right now.  His patience and fluidity are in a class of their own.  I'm still struggling to find a comp for his running style and past RBs who displayed his patience at the LOS.

I thought maybe Priest Holmes, who BTW had the most dominant 3 1/2 season stretch of any RB in FF history.  For those too young to remember or who have forgotten from 2001 to 2004 when he was hurt 8 games into the season Holmes AVERAGED 141 yards from scrimmage and 1.4 TD per game.  1.4 TDs per game!!!!!

Anyway, I just watched some Holmes highlights and while he was a very patient runner, he also ran with a FB- Tony Richardson who doesnt get the credit he deserves either- and was just a different type runner than Bell.  I would love, however, for Bell to get more of Holmes' nose for the endzone.  His career TD rate thus far is 0.6 per game, which is less than that of Holmes during his historic run.  I havent crunched the numbers on a per touch basis but again, Holmes was insane during that stretch.

Right now though there is no RB I like watching more than Bell and I'm glad I own him in all 3 of my redraft leagues.  Just hoping he stays healthy and avoids suspension obviously.

And would love to see others thoughts on style comps from other RBs.

Agreed. I also owned Priest Holmes (3 keeper league) all through his prime in KC up the point where I had to draft Larry Johnson so early to back him up. It was a sad day for me when he finally succumbed to concussion and quit the game. It was absolutely unfair having Holmes on my team for that stretch run. Different era than today and more dominant that even Bell is in today's game having Priest, but the point is Priest relied a lot on his team, especially FB to block for him especially on those sweep runs. He had awesome pulling guards to escort him into the end zone. Bell is doing a lot of this work without that kind of blocking. I feel like if Bell was on Dallas or some other team that focused on running he would get up to Priest type dominance, potentially. Being on PItt with Roethlisberger definitely limits his TD upside a ton as they like to pass at the goal line so much it knocks Bell down a few notches from where he could be.

I actually passed on bell in my keeper league (as his contract got to expensive to keep this year so he was thrown back to the pool) for Zeke since I was worried Bell would become a full time rapper or get popped for more suspensions. I think he makes more money doing non football stuff these days so that is a concern and why I went with Zeke. But He is a much better RB than Zeke at this stage, but I am planning to keep Zeke a minimum of 3-5 years so he has time to catch up. The first 2 weeks of the season I was sorta regretting my decision to take Zeke over Bell, but Zeke is trending up nicely. I made this decision before Zeke went to that pot store too. LOL I dunno what is with these guys. They should take some risk management courses. LOL

I typically trade players for players and do not have a good sense of players for picks in dynasty/ppr.

Any takers as to Bell's current worth in draft picks?

I realize some will likely quickly chime in that I should take this to the "other" forum. I say this is general info useful to others regardless whether looking to buy or sell the fellow... as I might be looking to buy... or sell.

At least three 1st round picks.....or two 1sts and a young prospect. He's worth more to a contending team than anybody but maybe DJ.

He's getting plenty of touches and rushing/receiving yardage....extremely consistent week to week. But no TD's yet.....some TD's would be nice, I suppose those will come.

I think the only time he came off the field on Offense yesterday was one play when he had to tie his shoe.

It seems like we just got him back and now his bye week comes up.

I remember a few years ago complaining about the lack of TDs but his usage was great in the red zone. It's similar now. He's going to score a bunch of TD's as long as that red zone usage stays where it's at.

I've been considering trading him.  It's a keeper league where players can be kept for 3 years at the original round, then 2 more years with a 2-round bump.

I drafted him in the 12th round his rookie year and have him for 1 more year as a 10th round keeper, so he's very valuable (if he can stay away from the weed).

I wouldn't trade him unless I was able to get a solid RB1/high end RB2, WR1, and an upgrade at another position.  (I'd trade away lesser players at those other positions to even out the players involved)

i.e.-a RB like C Michael/Gurley/Ware, plus a WR like Hilton, Evans, Beckham (since he's having a weird year), plus an upgrade at QB or TE.

I don't know if I'll get anything done, because when I broach the idea to other owners, they come back with offers like "Hill, Britt, and Kelce," or "Gurley, Cooks, and Fleener."

I hope you're right. He needs to start having some big scoring games as the season winds down and we get into the playoffs.

Would anyone here trade Bell if it got them Elliot in PPR dynasty? The Zeke owner in my league will move Zeke, but would want Bell in the deal.

I'd do it but only because of Bell's extensive drug test problems. Bell is the better RB talent though. It's just when you factor in that suspension risk......

Right on time bro. Might get 1 or 2 more in the second half too. He can score them in bunches!

dynasty owner here.

thinking ahead, i want to stake my claim on the future of the pitt running game.  who do i need as handcuff(s).

RB       34    WILLIAMS, DEANGELO CC/Car   - ancient prolly gone soon.

33    Toussaint, Fitzgerald SF15    - i guess? on waiver

38    Richardson, Daryl SF16 - meh - on waiver

what does bells contract look like?  i assume they will be drafting an rb early next year.

In my opinion, the future of the Pitt running game is most likely going to be drafted this year, and isn't on the roster yet.  In the meantime, Williams is still the way to go, as I wouldnt be surprised to see him brought back next year.  Other two have done nothing to distinguish themselves enough to make me expect them to hold a job and play meaningful snaps.

I'd still do that deal but I'd get another one of his guys for sure. Someone comparable to Miller.
He wanted Bell, Miller, S. Ware & Diggs for Zeke & Marvin Jones. That's too much IMO. I'm left with Riddick as my RB2 & no one startable behind him. Keep in mind this is DYNASTY & PPR.

Remember when some experts were saying D-Will would still be involved when Bell came back.  So much for that.

I'd listen to offers for him this offseason myself if you don't have a win now team. Most owners are just going to look at the crazy numbers he is putting up and when the Steelers re-sign him or tag him he'll appear safer and they will overvalue him. They won't factor in his huge suspension risk. Coupled with a higher injury risk. He's not the #1 dynasty asset even though he's the #1 dynasty talent. I'm not saying give him away but letting your league know he's available isn't a bad idea because he's value will likely never be higher.

Of course if you're a win now team you keep him another year......

I've said this before but I'll say it again: I kinda hate Pittsburgh but I absolutely love watching Bell. To me, he is the Muhammad Ali of running backs. I've never seen anyone like him in the 43 years I've been watching pro football.

I didn't read this article at all yet, but I was just talking about this the other day with some friends. He's the most patient RB I've ever seen. The guy literally takes the ball and walks to the line of scrimmage on 1/2 of his carries, then bursts through for 5+ yds. Him and David Johnson are so fun to watch. I really, really hope I just get a chance to have either of them on a team next year.

Pitt homers: if DeAngelo leaves Pitt (reports are it's looking likely), is Toussaint the clear backup RB?  Thought I'd spend an off-season roster spot on Bell's backup in case Bell does something Bell-esque.

(tangent: the search box at the topic of the forum is literally useless and gives me an error whenever I try to use it. ugh. FBG;s trajectory is not promising...)

Toussaint is currently 3td on depth chart, but if DWill leaves they would most likely try to upgrade through the draft or FA.

I'll put this as bluntly...  Toussaint stinks.   I'm not sure what the Steelers see in him but whatever it is, I don't see it.    Karlos Williams has one game left on his suspension.  He hasn't played a down for the Steelers but he is probably more likely to assume the backup RB position than Toussaint.

If the Steelers let DeAngelo walk, which is likely, I think the Steelers will draft a RB with a top 4 pick.

I have never had a problem with the search button, ever.  When you click in the text box another window slides out to the left - are you checking that to make sure it's searching This Forum option and not something else?

Thanks. I just added Williams to my watch list.

Strange. It hasn't worked for me either time I've tried it over the past 2 days, but just now I let the pop up slide en to the left, changed nothing in the pop up, and now it worked. Who knows. Maybe something was down at the time or maybe it was an iPad glitch.

Thanks though for confirming it should and does work.

You, like I, have been here for a long time. Let's be honest, we've seen this coming for 2-3 years...

Kind of vague. Likely a hernia. That's one of the only kind of "core muscle injury" that would require surgery. Unless he flat out tore one of his obliques or his transferverse abdominis... but that's basically a hernia. Nothing to really worry about
Whatever it is, it's the same injury from the playoff game.  Clearly they wanted to wait and see if it was heal on its own, and it sure didn't.

PROBABLY zero concern moving forward.
