So who is left? Are there any STUD RB left in the NFL? Never seen a season where if you just had average RB like say Willis McGahee, you actually have a top10 borderline top5 RB…it is the year of the WR for many.
NY Jets at Miami
Thomas Jones: Start Him…Miami will be without Zach Thomas in the middle again…the last 4 games for the Phins they have allowed Jacobs 22/131, Lynch 60/TD, Westbrook 32/148, and Parker gained 80+ in that swamp last week. Jones has a good shot at 100 and a TD on Sunday. He had 25/110 in the 1st meeting between the two teams.
Jesse Chatman: Start Him…Jacobs ran for 100/TD, Westbrook had 20/120, Watson had 130/3TD, Portis had a career day with 196/TD, MB III had 100/TD…run Chatman all day Cam Cameron if you want to save your job…might be too late.
San Diego at Kansas City
LT: The Chiefs are throwing in the towel as of late on defense. Selvin Young had 100/TD, Addai with 72/TD, and Fargas had 139/TD last week…LT should have a great game on Sunday.
Kolby Smith: Outside of Adrian Peterson ripping the SD rush defense apart, most of the season they have been able to hold guys in check. And when I mean in check, only Larry Johnson has posted triple digits on the ground after Peterson. But they still allow the rushing TDs to the tune of 8 on the season. Smith will get a lot of work and had a great game last week but don’t expect top 10 numbers again this week.
Jacksonville at Indy
Fred Taylor: Taylor has 2 TD in the last 3 games and his 1st 100 yard rushing performance last week. Sorry, but I’m still not impressed. I let him ride the pine, the likelihood of him cracking the top 20 is not all that high.
MJD: I don’t understand why this guy is not getting 4-5 catches a week OOTB minimum. Just blows my mind how they mishandle this guy. They are 8-3 on the season however so what do I know? I like him in lfex positions better than rolling him out as the RB1/2 every week.
Joseph Addai: Addai racked up 100 yards last time these two squared off. I like him to always rack 100 total yards no matter who the opponent is. He is a must start every week.
San Fran at Carolina
Frank Gore: Outside of Joseph Addai racking 100/2 TD, and Lendale White punding it 31/100/TD…outside of those two performances, no one has really been able to light up the Panthers rush defense. Another way to look at the numbers however would be before the NO game last week, there was a run of 80/TD, 100/2TD, 100/TD, 89/TD, and 88…those are what the starters managed on the ground. Gore started to get into rhythm last week so I guess it’s time to confidently start him.
DeShaun Foster: Start him…92/TD, 24/133, 25/78, 22/88, 107/TD, 100/TD, 87/TD, 23/92, 17/78…the Niners are not that great against the run but everyone has been throwing it on them as of late. Foster doesn’t seem to really share the load so I look for him to start and do well this weekend.
Buffalo at Washington…the Skins shouldn’t have to play this Sunday but God Bless them on Sunday.
Fred Jackson: Lynch and Thomas are OUT for Sunday. Jackson looked good in the preseason. I won’t even begin to speculate what the mindset of the Skins will be on Sunday…Jackson has a decent chance of cracking the top20 but if you have better options, I see no reason to push this guy out there other than in a best ball format.
Clinton Portis: I’m going to let owners decide what they think is best here. Again, I don’t want to comment or speculate on what the mindset of a guy that not only played in the NFL with Sean Taylor but also in college.
Houston at Tennessee
Ron Dayne: Green is out. If Haynesworth is OUT for Sunday’s game, I like Ron Dayne a whole heckuva lot more. I wonder how effective Haynesworth will be anyways. Dayne had quite an end to the 2006 season, works well in Kubiak’s offense. I would be tempted to play him depending on the Haynesworth injury come Sunday morning.
LenDale White: Start him…The Texans rush defense has been pretty poor as of late. Jamale Lewis had 134/TD, Fargas racked 100/TD, LT 17/90, and in week 7 White ran for 100/TD while Chris Henry pooped in another 57/TD himself. White is a strong play this week at home.
Atlanta at St Louis
Warrick Dunn: Bench him…The Rams have been better as of late against the run. Held Morris to 16/79, Gore 15/32, Reggie Bush 7/17, Jamal Lewis 17/61, Shaun 19/47…these are not good numbers if you are thinking about Dunn this week.
Steven Jackson: Keith and Addai racked up 120/TD last week, Graham 102/TD the week before, however they have been able to limit some of the other RB they have seen this season. Jackson looked good last week, owners have been waiting so no reason to bench him this week.
Seattle at Philly
Shaun Alexander: Bench him…Philly has given up 6 rushing TD on the season HOWEVER, 4 of them were to New England and Dallas…let me repeat that 4 of those 6 were against NE and Dallas…so let’s have some perspective on their rush defense. 2 RB have passed the century mark on the season and IMO Philly has a pretty solid rush defense. Compound that with Shaun splitting time with Morris and I see a recipe for disaster. Seattle is on the road as well, they don’t do well on the road.
Brian Westbrook: The #1 RB in FF this season and in PPR leagues he is really leading the charge…how can you even think about whether you might start him or not? You don’t, just plug n play.
Detroit at Minnesota
Kevin Jones: Bench him…the Vikes rush defense is pretty tough to begin with but Martz will not have the patience to stay with the run in a game that is must win for both teams.
Adrian Peterson: Bench him…he is splitting time at best with Chester Taylor.
Chester Taylor: Watch the IR Sunday morning…if Peterson is a late scratch or talked about as being very limited, I would start Chester at that point.
Denver at Oakland
Travis Henry: Start him…he practiced fully on Friday, looks to be 100%, still hasn’t been given a suspension(looks like he might beat that thing), and he is playing a team in Oakland that allowed Chester taylor 164 and 3 TD, then went out and allowed Kolby Smith to run for 150 and 2 TD…Henry could have a field day on Sunday.
Justin Fargas: Has been playing well and now will face Denver which has only allowed 2 rushing TD since week 5 and only 1 RB has reached 100 yards on the ground during that stretch, so the Broncos are not as bad against the run as many think. Fargas is completely over ranked this week on FBG in the top10…I don’t think so.
Cleveland at Arizona
Jamal Lewis: Start him…I like him this week. The Cardinals got ripped up by Gore last weekend to the tune of 116/2TD, Graham took them for 124/TD, Portis had 2 TD, Foster/DeAngelo combined for 150+/TD, even Brian Leonard had 100+. I like Lewis and that OL to get him at least 1 short plunge.
Edgerrin James: Cleveland has been up and down on their rush defense most of the year. Edge is very up and down as a RB most of the season too. I think this will be a fairly high scoring game so I wouldn’t worry about Edge as an RB2 this week.
NY Giants at Chicago
Brandon Jacobs: OUT
Derrick Ward: Practiced fully and is expected to start. Ward performed brilliantly earlier in the season when he was the starter and I expect him to come out and do well on Sunday.
Adrian Peterson: The Bears” OL is pretty crummy so even though Cedric Benson is gone for the season, I don’t expect AP to light up the Giants this week.
Tampa Bay at New Orleans
Earnest Graham: Bench him…My only problem is that if Garcia is out…the box is going to be stacked to shut him down this weekend. The Saints haven’t allowed a 100 yard rusher since Joseph Addai in week 1.
Reggie Bush: His rushing stats the past 3 weeks have been just awful. Still he is supposed to be 100% this week and I would think the combo of his receptions and rushed is enough to maintain him as a must start every week.
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh
Rudi Johnson: Bench him…Not going to be fun for him on SNF. The good news is he has 3 easy games after this week and I think he will be one of the better FF MVP for the playoff weeks. Did carry it 25 times alst week so he is not nursing an injury anymore.
Willie Parker: Start him…he’s playing the Bengals, would could go wrong?
New England at Baltimore
Laurence Maroney: Bench him…Had his 1st TD last week. The Ravens are still pretty tough against the run. No one has rushed for 100 yards on them all season and they have allowed only 3 rushing TD on the season.
Willis McGahee: 6 games in a row he has crossed the goal line. Will the streak continue against the Pats? I won’t tell you to bench him but I would not be overly optimistic for him on MNF.
Good luck all this weekend!!!
