RB Matt Breida - Giants RB (1 Viewer)

completely match-up dependent... I would only start Morris or Breida if 1) there is a high Vegas total or 2) they are up against a real bad run defense (we will find this out for sure in this next 2-3 weeks)

Next week has both, against the Lions. Start both, lean Morris imo.

I don't think we learned anything watching them play the vikings. I already knew I didn't want to start anyone against the vikings.

also, if Goodwin is good to go, offense should open up a bit. They really only have Kittle and Garcon and a bunch of unaccomplished receivers right now

Was surprised to see him get a pretty even split with Alf. Wasn't expecting him to get as much early down work. I feel like he's a hold for now.

Morris a sneaky start this week IMHO.
Agreed. He would now fall on the sneaky and not obvious as many thought last week. Owners will be a li'l gunshy of Alf, and Detroit looked bad enough for an offense to want to grind it out on them.

What is pretty obvious is that the more passing sets/situations the better for Breida.

I was watching the game flow. Brieda definitely was on a roll late in the game. The first half was mostly Morris and the 2nd half mostly Breida. Was that because they were losing? Perhaps but also Morris didn't play much after his fumble. Shanahan said Breida might be eased in a bit because of his missed time in camp, so maybe that was part of it too. But keep in mind, Breida is listed as starter. Reading the tea leaves I think this job is leaning towards Breida's direction going forward.

Completely disagree. We will see a shift towards Morris getting the bulk of the carries this week. Hard to take anything against MIN defense.

Indeed.

But Breida will have to earn every single additional snap for quite some time.  He has a short leash and a lot to still prove as a lead option or 50/50 back.

The good thing is, he was one of the absolute best pass blocking backs* on Sunday, and the Vikings pass rush aint no joke. *Morris was better then average as well.

Def excited to see how the Niners backs do this week. I pretty much took nothing from the Vikes game. Plus this gives Alf another week in practice.

My league just started the FAAB. What % are people bidding on this type of player? Is 35% crazy?

He looks fantastic, good offense, Morris looks like he's pretty much done.

Plugged him in with Fournette out.  So pleased with the result.  Didn’t get to see any of the game but can’t wait to see his snaps.  Hopefully SSND does his highlights this week!

Can you talk about what you saw from Matt Breida today, specifically that big run he had in the third quarter?

“I saw him running very hard. I saw our O-Line blocking very hard. When they gave him space, he hit it with no hesitation. He did a good job when he did get into the secondary not sitting and breaking down and thinking about making too many moves. He just hit it hard as can be and probably got about 60-yards and Pierre did an awesome job on the backside. I always tell him he turns into a fullback at the end of the play, because he ends up being the lead blocker to get us in, which was real nice.”

After that touchdown, I think Breida only got one more carry. I think it was RB Alfred Morristhe rest of the way. What’s the thinking there?

“I think a lot had to do with, we ran most of it there at the end of the game. When you get into a four-minute drill and you’re trying to run the clock out, we needed about two first-downs to end it, I believe it was, you want to get a bigger guy in there just a little bit better with the arm tackles.”
doesnt sound like there is any reason to expect breida to assume a lead dog role (yet)

Interesting read. I agree that it's premature to write Morris off when he did get plenty of touches down the stretch. But we know what Alfred Morris is all about; Breida definitely looked more exciting / dynamic / whatever buzzword you want to use.

I left him on the bench in favor of Yeldon so I'm kind of annoyed that I may have missed out on his best game of the season.

By some miracle Brieda avoided serious injury when he got a non-contact and crumpled to the ground. Back in and got a long run.

Matt Breida rushed 10 times for 90 yards and hauled in all three of his targets for 27 yards in the 49ers' Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

Breida appeared to suffer a serious injury in the second quarter, but he shook it off on the sideline. The 49ers are glad he did because he broke off several long runs in the second half to help make it a game. Unfortunately, Jimmy Garoppolo suffered what seems like a season-ending injury late in the fourth quarter, lowering the upside of the entire offense. Breida is explosive enough to remain in the FLEX conversation, but that is all he will be next week against the Chargers.
I don't think Breida's role changes much if Jimmy G is out for the year.

i saw dr. chao said it may be possible to play and it depends on swelling.... if he gets in a LP today i think he'll be in line to play Sunday

I think I'm tapping out on Breida... too many concerns about his role and expected efficiency drop, not to mention his injury is the type I have seen linger/get worse. If this was PPR I'd keep him, but I'm in a standard league. Trading him for AR15, really hope I don't regret it since the guy looks so good, he's a poor man's Tevin Coleman.

I moved on, as well.

GTD; limited again on Friday, after a full practice on Thursday?  What’s going on?

Are there any reports out there with more info?  With Beathard in there, he could be a good ppr option this week, IF HE PLAYS.

Man, I'm torn on this guy.  Against the Chargers, you have to assume they get down by a lot early.  Creates opportunities for Breida but with the injury, not Jimmy G.  Man, I may have to go Allison over Breida in the flex.

Matt Breida played 38-of-60 snaps (63 percent) Week 4 against the Chargers.

Breida recorded easily his highest snap share of the season in a game Alfred Morris played just 14 snaps. The game was close throughout, so game script cannot be blamed for the split. Morris is likely to steal the goal-line work, but Breida, who is averaging 7.8 yards per touch, is the better fantasy play.
BTW the Allen Robinson owner wanted to wait for a better offer (see last post) so I am still a Breida owner. I'll say this, he ran tough yesterday's game.

So is Breida taking over to the point that Morris is droppable for the WW flavor of the day?  Kinda feels that way.
