Matt Breida rushed 15 times for 78 yards in the 49ers' Week 9 win over the Cardinals, adding two receptions for 14 additional yards.
Supposedly highly questionable with an ankle injury, Breida instead led the 49ers' backfield committee, out-touching Tevin Coleman 17-15 and out-gaining him 92-36. Breida was the far more explosive player this evening, ripping chunk gains and appearing deadly with an inch of space. The Cardinals were lucky Breida didn't break free for even more big plays. Coleman, meanwhile, simply couldn't find any running room. After a month of Coleman steadily taking command of the Niners' running back room, we almost find ourselves back at square one. Breida will be an upside RB2/FLEX for Week 10 against the Seahawks.
