RB Nick Chubb, Free Agent (3 Viewers)

With RB contracts seemingly on the uptick again, do you think Chubb will try to get a maximum payout or stay with the team for less? If he gets paid somewhere between Henry and Barkley, do you think the Browns would shell out that type of cash? Would it even be smart to do so? If they don't, fans would be upset, but they're used to moves that piss them off at this point.

They do need to trade Cooper this year.
If he were chasing a pay day, he could've played hard ball and gotten more when he signed his current contract. He didn't. The Browns were in a position to save $ by cutting him earlier this year. They didn't. I think there is mutual interest for him to say with the Browns.
Times change. Chubb might start to see his mortality and want to go to a winner. Browns might be the Browns. Who knows what will happen. On one hand I really hope he gets to go play for a winner like KC. He really deserves it. He's a great man, great player, and wonderful teammate. On the other hand, I kind of hope he stays with the Browns. He's the prototypical Browns player of old. Staying with and retiring with them seems fitting. Best case scenario is the Browns find a competent QB and find a way to be the winner he plays for. Watson showed signs of improvement last week, and if that trend continues who knows? But it's probably fool's gold, and foolish to even mention him as a real NFL QB these days. The team is stacked top to bottom. They should not be 1-3 after having played the Cowboys, Jags, Giants and Raiders. I don't care who the QB is, this start is unacceptable.

No disagreement to any of that here. I've given up on this year's team and it's on them to prove me wrong. I'll tune in when youth sports season subsides in a couple-few weeks, but only for Chubb, and only if the Tribe is not also still playing.

This is why you don't listen to Miami beat writers talking about what Nick Chubb can and can't do. Pure clickbait tweet by that guy. Nick Chubb ain't human, when are we gonna learn?

Remember, Stefanski said when the doctor says he's ready to go, he goes.

When Chubb finally hits the field, he will be a RB1. Maybe THE RB1. Have we forgotten just how good this guy is?

If I had to guess, we won't see him until the end of his 21 day window so he can get into football shape and take some hits, which is perfectly fine with me, but it also wouldn't surprise me if Chubb proves the doubters wrong again and comes back even sooner. Give me a healthy Nick Chubb for about half the season. GIDDY UP!
We both saw his knee last season right? Because that's not a injury you finish up rehab and come back 100% from no matter what kind of genetic freak you are. Even if he feels physically okay, how is he going to approach contact now? I'm sure he's ready to go but what happens when bodies start flying around his knees for real?

Nick Chubb was probably the best pure rb since ADP, but he's coming off the second major knee injury of his career at the age of 29. There's absolutely no way he's the player he was fully healthy at 28.

The mental aspect is part of the rehab. Chubb has been through this before, so for him, the mental aspect is likely to be lessened.

True. He’s better!

If Chubb was younger, or had a bunch of years left on his contract, and the Browns were out of the playoff hunt, then I could see them limiting his touches throughout the year.

However, Chubb will be 29 around Christmas and is set to be a free agent after this season. I think they won't care how many carries he gets since they probably won't bring him back.
They only care how many carries he gets if he is productive.

he needs to be better than Ford and Ford isnt a bad player. I think they will call this a committee but who gets the most carries will truly depend on who is playing better. So how quickly Chubb gets up to speed will determine where this goes.

but I'm betting at least for the rest of the year, this will be a committee of sorts. I'd be really scared to give Chubb a good contract next year given his age and the status of his injury. but this is the Browns, so I suppose anything is possible.

More worried about the injured O-Line. How many of them have returned?
Wills came back last week. Conklin returning this week. Teller is eligible to return next week, but we'll see if he actually does. Pocic was knocked out last week and didn't return, but he's the one with a viable backup (Harris) behind him.

You don't trade players like this unless the player requested it and he's not the kind to do that. You'll get it if you read the article below.

I've never owned Chubb in a dynasty league and rarely in any format. Just a cost vs performance equation but after reading this I wish I had him more because first of all how can you not root for him but also when I hear comments like "if anyone can return from this, it's Nick Chubb" and frankly I hear that so much it does not carry a ton of weight, until I read this tremendous article that Chubb wrote.

He wasn't ever going anywhere. He is the cultural center of this team that has been sorely missed.

...but I still hate this team

I don’t think I can start him this week but I bet he gets in the endzone. Feeling 12-45-1 type performance.

If he becomes a flex starter for me, I’ll be absolutely thrilled. Definitely wouldn’t bet against him being an RB2 for the playoffs.

I’m actually rolling with him in a league where I have Taylor and some bye issues.

Anything close to ten points sounds like I win, but I also think Cleveland gives him any red zone carries.

What are people's expectations for Chubb ROS and into the next year?
I love the guy. I expect a slow roll out this week, maybe single-digit carries. We'll see what the eye test says. My hunch is that he has so much talent and work ethic that he is able to bounce back from this latest, terrible injury. I think he's back to a pretty full load in a few weeks. The Browns stink, though, so I am not expecting terrific fantasy production, more like pedestrian numbers.

Fire him up and stop playing around.

hey keep in mind this is the same injury Javonte Williams had. (multiple ligament including ACL) took Javonte more than 18 months to come back and be productive. so Lets keep the expectations realistic. where is Chubb at? I'd guess pretty close to 12 months. He will play, but odds are against him having a great game. Not saying its impossible. ADP did it but I think that was Just an ACL. I dont think any other ligaments were damaged in his.

Just food for your thoughts. and its not that I dont believe in Chubb. its just the injury that is scary. for some, this is likely even a career ender. so we shouldnt take this injury lightly.

If you look at his game history, Chubb has a decent amount of touches on his first game back after missing time. 19, 17, 24

Decided not to risk it this week (and keeping him on IR allowed me to roster an extra player to cover some byes) but really hoping he's really back. Awesome player when he's right

I’m still debating between him and Irving. The 3-way potential split in TB has me leaning Chubb, but it seems like a massive gamble

Chubb is out of my lineups, too. I want to see how he and his workload looks before I trust him. I don't blame others for rolling him out if their options are committee RBs or guys like Michael Wilson

I literally flexed him over Michael Wilson. Not expecting a huge amount, but hoping he can grab a TD

What's the confidence level in Chubb rest of year? He gets a nice matchup this week against NO, but then has Pit, Den, Pit, KC, Cin, Miami. I really only see NO and Miami as start with some confidence games. Winston has improved the offense and the o-line is starting to get healthy. I have several injuries at wr or their qbs (Hill, BTJ) and am thinking of packaging Chubb for Flowers. I love the player, just not sure the opportunities will be there to start him with confidence.

Didnt have high hopes for him off the injury, but picked him in like the 9th round (in a league where you can start up to 4 RB's) as a dart throw.

Obviously the results haven't been good. Starting him tonight as my other flex options are on bye, but not feeling amazing about it. If you offered me like 45 yards and a TD I'd sign for it right now. That team stinks and he's clearly not the same guy
