RB Nick Chubb, Free Agent (1 Viewer)

any rumors?

Is he asking too much? If the 'guaranteed' money isn't too much, i'd sure love my Broncos to bring him in. The risk-reward seems positive?
Browns told him to test the market and asked him to come back to them with his best offer then they'll decide whether to match or not.
And he should tell them to pound sand.
...why?
"Test the market and we'll decide if we want to match the best offer you get" seems like the definition of rational decision-making. What else should Chubb be expecting to hear? "Tell us anything you want and we'll give it to you. No questions asked."
There's clearly an enormous culture problem in Cleveland. Chubb is an important part of any positive culture they have. The message that front office continues to send to their players is that there's no accountability here. There's no real loyalty here. We pay scumbags outside the organization a quarter billion, but the guys who lay it on the line for the Browns can kick rocks. Chubb has laid his health on the line multiple times for them and fought hard to get back. I believe sent out an extremely heartfelt and emotional message to the city following his injury.

Football is a business, but it's a business comprised of people. Treat them poorly and you'll get an appropriate effort in return. I guess I see it differently being a Bucs' fan? We have players like Chris Godwin who isn't too dissimilar from Chubb. Chris tore an ACL in 2021. The Bucs signed him to an extension. Chris dislocated an ankle in 2024. The Bucs signed him to an extension. Is that bad football business process? Maybe, but you know who notices? The players. They know if they perform as a Buc they'll still be compensated even if they sustain injury. You know how I know? Godwin took significantly less money to continue being a Buc.

Chubb has been loyal to Cleveland and their response to him is, "Well, go see if anyone else will compensate you. We'll decide if you're worthy of it or not." Is it a surprise to anyone that the Browns have sucked for eternity treating their players that way?

If I were him I'd take the first offer I got and get the Hell out of there.
You should re-read the previous 2 pages. The Browns already did exactly what you said they should be doing now.
What did I miss? I'm responding to your post saying the Browns are going to let him "test the market" and the subsequent post. If you truly want to keep a player you give them your last and best and tell them it's your last and best. If there are reports that they've made him an offer and he's turned it down I didn't see them.

"Test the market" is code for "go see what you can get and we'll decide if you're worth that to us." Treating a player like Chubb that way is why the Browns are the Browns.

I mean exactly what I wrote, go re-read the previous 2 pages - that content dates back to fall, not last week. This is one excerpt, but not the only one.
If he were chasing a pay day, he could've played hard ball and gotten more when he signed his current contract. He didn't. The Browns were in a position to save $ by cutting him earlier this year. They didn't. I think there is mutual interest for him to say with the Browns.
It's fair to criticize just about everything Browns, but the way this group treats their veterans is not one of them. If anything, I'd argue the pendulum has swung too loyal.

I'd still like to see the Bears bring him in to spell Swift and handle short yardage / goalline. Probably a money issue as to why he isn't signed. He's still Nick Chubb and Nick Chubb don't play for the league minimum. However, if a few RBs start going down then Chubb's phone is ringing immediately.

I think he's a good skeptical hold in dynasty similar to Kareem Hunt last year. Kind of like DeAngelo Williams in Pittsburgh many years back. One injury can change everything.

Or Dalvin Cook? For the record, I am holding Chubb. There really is no other choice. He isn't going to fetch you anything in trade, and he is potentially too valuable to cut. I hope he can have a Hunt/Williams type of rebound, but he has not looked like Nick Chubb for a couple of seasons.

1 season, just 1 season.

Chubb looked like he might have been ready to have a career year in 2023. Had 170 yards at a 6.1 clip through 6 quarters.

I agree that Chubb looked every bit of himself before his most recent injury.

Now where is he at? Hard to say. I have only heard positive things in regards to his recovery.

The Browns know better than anyone else and they are letting him go. So there is reason to wonder about that.

But it's the Browns. They couldn't punch their way out of a wet paper bag.
