RB Nick Chubb, HOU (1 Viewer)

I'd pump the brakes on Chubb. It's Cleveland and does anyone really trust Hue knows what he's doing? Love the talent but that coach....

I have to admit I’m a little shocked that “penis” isn’t #####’d out.

I truly hope Chubb has a monster performance, and gives everyone satisfaction this week if only to continue the trend of completely immature of d!ck jokes.

Hmmm I wonder if anyone has noticed that Chubb could be a euphemism for something else yet?

I only see people doing that about as much as companies are pushing Pumpkin Spice anything these days.

While I hope that Chubb becomes Clevelands feature RB following the trade of Carlos Hyde (makes a lot of sense) I still have to wonder how much the Browns will actually use him.

So far Nick Chubb has 33 offensive snaps (7% of total plays) and he has only one game with more than 10 snaps against the Ravens.

Duke Johnson has 198 offensive snaps so far (42.7%) which seems normal for a Hue Jackson led offense for the banger (Hyde Chubb Hill) to get 50-60% of the snaps with a COP (Johnson Bernard) getting about 40%

This looks like the same pattern as when Hue was with the Bengals to me.

I have asked if Todd Haley has more influence on this offense than Hue Jackson does. Some assured me in the offseason that Haley would have more control, but based on the usage so far, it does not look like that to me. It looks like Hue Jacksons split of RB is alive and well.

While Chubb may be seeing a great increase in playing time (7% to 50% is huge) Duke Johnson is still going to be involved a lot I think.

Do you think they traded Hyde to make Duke a workhorse? I mean, Chubb might not get a full load this week since the trade happened late in the week but I expect him to be a 15-20 touch RB unless they are playing from behind like this past week.

I don’t see anyone disputing this.  Most here seem to agree.

Assuming Duke’s role stays the same, Chubb could get upwards of 14-18 carries a game - maybe a reception or two (that part is an unlnown)

given his obvious ability he could be a monster with that number of touches. I’m excited to see what he can do with a sizable increase.

no question it’ll be RBBC, but with pretty defined roles, it offers a fairly safe floor - and a ceiling that’s off the charts.

No.

There were times that Jeremy Hill was getting the ball 40% of the time he was on the field even when he was only playing 50-60% of the snaps, so its possible that Chubb has similar workload in a situation where he is only getting 50% of the snaps.

Hue Jackson has a preference for a "workhorse" RB and that would be the bigger RB. He thinks that smaller satellite RB such as Duke Johnson and Bernard become less useful when the weather gets colder.

The point is however that there is still likely going to be a split in playing time between the two RB and when game script causes the Browns to abandon the run Chubbs opportunities will be fewer than what folks (myself included) are hoping for.

Chubb will have a scary PPR floor if CLE isn't competitive. I'm hoping for mid-high RB2 production going forward. He will be more boom/bust than some want to admit. But, he should have some nice BOOM weeks.

Are you saying we shouldn't use our Chubb from behind when we plan to distribute a full load?

Why is everyone so concerned all of a sudden about Duke?  Didn’t we all expect Duke to play a big role as soon as Chubb was drafted?  That was the huge downer with chubb this summer - Duke would prevent him from having a Gurley-3 down monster back role.

Three down back? Chubb only needs 3 carries to produce.

Duke named the starter gives my Chubb a little less “oomph”, but I’m not completely deflated.

Hopefully he’s rigorous and penetrates deeply with his touches.
