RB Ollie Gordon II, MIA (1 Viewer)

I was waaaaay out on the Dolphins situation this offseason, but I’m coming back around as we get closer to kickoff.
Same. I still have nightmares of the Dolphins offense when Tua didn't play. I traded the one share of Hill I had left. I absolutely love Hill. That offense scares me. Too many things have to go right for them to be good. So many things can go wrong for it to be abysmal.

I'm so ready for this ride - it could be fun.

Having said that I'm a big Achane fan and think they can be a good 1-2 punch.

You must respek zee Ollie G. Booyakasha! If only Gordon had the speed Mostert had, I would be thinking he can be Mostert V. 2023.
Didn’t Mostert score a lot of short GL TDs that year? Ollie can do that I think. Biggest concern is that the offense just won’t be anywhere near as prolific in 2025 as it was in 2023.
Why is it that the offense can’t be anywhere near as prolific this year? As long as Tua, Achane, Waddle, and Hill are healthy - I don’t see why the offense can’t put up big numbers again.

I was waaaaay out on the Dolphins situation this offseason, but I’m coming back around as we get closer to kickoff. I’m still not brave enough to take Achane in the early 2nd. But I’m really liking the value of Hill and Waddle, and then a later dart toss at Gordon.
Colts, Pats, Jets, Panthers 4 of their first 5 games, that's almost half the FF regular season
Browns and Falcons would give them 6 out of their first 8 games against teams they should at least be a coin flip with to win the game
What I'm saying these games are likely to be close, don't think Miami is going to be tearing teams apart but 20-23-27 points a week very doable for this offense if they're all healthy

Their problem Barboni, they have a very suspect OL, maybe they can gel over the first two months of the season
Tua cannot take a big shot, next one is likely a career ender. Buffalo has knocked him out twice, they play the Bills week 3...I just want them off the field in one piece

Some have the Fins with the easiest strength of schedule for QBs. But as you say, we will go as far as the O-line takes us. Years of Oline injuries and struggles - would be nice for once for them to be healthy.

This guy is newly available in my ten team. Do I drop Judkins for him possibly being Mostert again with Achane?

After 2 weeks & Jaylen Wright cleared to play today, are we still holding Ollie or is Wright the better handcuff?
He's been dropped in both of my leagues and I don't see anyone sprinting to get him.

Miami is a mess but Achane is one of the few bright spots.
I still believe Ollie ahead of Wright. Wright had horrible pre season n he's coming off an injury..
If Achane got hurt Ollie gets the chance to shine not wright imo.

I don't personally see either RBs walking in and being a "starter". I would definietly envision a RBBC which would make starting OG3 or Wright a tough play.

My $.0.02.

I think it’s up in the air which of Wright or Gordon to have, but for now sticking with Gordon. Wright didn’t exactly impress last year or in this year’s preseason, while we don’t know yet what Gordon can do.

Sure hope so. Drafted him hoping he could become the new Raheem. That said first couple weeks Miami looked like trash, so not sure if he was going to get many chances haha

Yeah this is Achane's team. As an Ollie owner, I am just happy seeing the usage early on in his career. Not sure best case scenario for him. Achane is still young, so not sure if he will truly get a chance while the backup. Giving me Tony Pollard, Michael Turner back up vibes. May need his chance in a couple years elsewhere, but I am happy to keep him waiting for his time to rise. That said, I also still am holding onto Kendre Miller. So who am I to speak haha

Achane as still the guy and I'm a HUGE Achane fan - also Achane looked great last night. He looks much faster and quicker than last year. I think that high ankle sprain held him back last year. Having said that he does get dinged up at times. Gordon can be the Mostert type guy who can grind out the hard yards. As seen last night he can get hit in the backfield and still go for 15 yards. His running style is a bit awkward but it works for him - he is super hard to bring down and he has enough speed to get chunk plays.

I like MIA having a bigger back like Gordon who can grind out some of the harder yards while keeping Achane fresh. If Achane gets injured (hope not) I think Gordon could end up the lead back.

Now what do to with Wright - I also like Wright and MIA seems to have an abundance of good RBs. If all 3 are healthy it could be a messy backfield field behind Achane. Good problem for MIA.

I expect to see his role continue to grow this year. Achane's going to get his touches, will be a locked in high end RB1 candidate with a super high floor every week he's healthy, but Gordon is clearly the best short yardage runner on the team, and might be on majority of teams. But allso they trust a rookie in his third game in key pass protection downs with two starting OL out and a QB we all know can't get hit. This says a lot.

What I'd also add here is that Achane simply isn't a workhorse back and IMO, the ideal role for him is that of a versatile weapon. 10-12 carries/5-6 receptions...my guess is he retains RB1 status, but his snap share declines. He'll get RZ looks simply because his ability as a receiver out of the backfield offers play calling diversity.

But last night was a good sign for Gordon owners, albeit...MIA not scoring like Achane's rookie year, so TD upside definitely limited.

Good points but I just have to mention one thing - he can be (and currently is) a workhorse back. Should he be? That is the question. Everyone wants to say he is small but he's not that small.

I do agree with you that 10-12 carries and 6 or even 7 receptions would be good for him. Keep him a bit more fresh with say 10 carries a game and give Ollie some more of the grind.

Gordon is really talented. He's a dawg. Probly never happen, but I think Miami's best offensive package would be Ollie at RB with Achane playing essentially a joker role. More of an old-fashioned wingback position. Similar to the modern h-back, but further off the LOS so he could more easily be involved in the running game. The opposing D would really have to be disciplined not to let Achane hurt them on misdirections and reverses. He could also line up at RB (with Gordon as the FB) or slot like in traditional 11 personnel.

Ds would have their hands full with Ollie/Achane and Tyreek/Waddle on the outside, especially if Waller has something left.
