RB Saquon Barkley, PHI (2 Viewers)

As stupid as the Giants and Giants fans feel for letting him go is as stupid as I feel for not getting him on any of my teams.

He probably goes over 150 yds today. Less than 30 carries. 1 long TD. Likely misses 200 yds near the end of the game when on another long run he sits down to run out the clock on a win.

The Eagles won't need him as much as usual due to game plan but, he'll put up relatively huge numbers anyway.
I think they are going to need him a whole lot as long as this passing game looks anemic.
Anemic. 55. Anemic.

Not sure what your point is. Only one of those tds wasn’t a rushing score. I was referring specifically to the passing game, which carried the offense once again.

Jalen threw for 230/1, 71% for 7 ypa and no TOs. The passing game was more than fine. I’ve been told all week that Jayden is the most amazing thing ever and that Jalen is the suck. He threw for 250/1, 60% for 4.8 ypa and a pick.

55 points and less than 250 yards passing. Dominant.

Nope. But certainly not anemic

When you are up all game you don’t have to pass the ball as much as the guy padding stats against a prevent defense. But I doubt his analysis goes that deep.

Still think its ridiculous he didnt win MVP

I still think its ridiculous Troy Smith beat out Darren McFadden for the Heisman

Probably needed to break the rushing record to do it. It's going to take the most insane season ever for a non qb to win it.

MVP is basically "best quarterback." OPOY is basically "best non-QB skill player." They're not labeled that way, but that's what they are.
Which is stupid. MVP is described quite clearly in the words that label the award. It’s idiotic that it is interpreted as “best QB.”

(Not directed at you - not trying to shoot the messenger, I agree that’s how the voters interpret it)

It morphed into "best QB" sometimes around 2013 or so. AP was the last non QB to get it in 2012 and before that was LT in 2006. But the award still felt like Most Valuable Player back then. You just had Manning and Brady going nuts at that time. Since then every QB that has a great year gets the award. You could argue a couple of those should have been other players. Like 2021 was definitely Cooper Kupp over Rodgers. Henry had a case in 2020 but Rodgers did throw 48 TDs to 5 into that year. Julio in 2015 could have won over Cam. Zeke in 2016 could have won over Ryan. They just usually settle on "Great team, so the QB is MVP obviously."

As a Giants fan who has suffered through the Barkley ordeal
I just want to say I like the kid.
He's a stand up guy who's effort is never questioned
His individual talent is amazing but he's still a true "team" player
If he earns a ring today I will be happy for him
But if The Eagles lose
I will be happy for me

Tremendous season, Saquon, and a very well deserved ring. Now get lots of rest because we keeper/dynasty owners need to squeeze at least one more top-end year out of you.
If we lucky we may get more than that
He's under contract for 2 more years and hopefully both will be elite or close to it. Anything after that is gravy given the age curve of running backs.

How many wins do you all think Saquon got the eagles this year? In other words, to borrow a baseball stat, wins above a replacement level player (Swift probably makes sense here).

Some friends and I are debating.
given that O line run blocking?
I'd say 2, maybe 3. Eagles would still be a strong playoff team
honestly, I think Sequons impact is basically the difference between winning and losing the superbowl. I agree they are still a strong playoff team without him. He was (in my opinion) the final piece of the Puzzle they needed to get it done.

Definitely concerned after Barkley's 400+ touch season, as history hasn't been kind the next year to RBs with that kind of workload - much less that kind of career workload. But as with King Henry, Barkley just seems to be different and may just continue to defy the odds.

Looks like Barkley is trying to trade for himself in his dynasty leagues talking about "I'll be one of those guys who just up and retires"

Jordan Schultz
Saquon Barkley was asked about retirement. His answer might surprise you:

"I’ll probably be one of those guys that it would be out of nowhere.

"I’ll probably just wake up one day, whether it’s next year or two years or four years and just be like, 'yeah, it’s over.'"
