RB Tank Bigsby, JAX (3 Viewers)

The Coachspeak Index
#Jaguars HC Doug Pederson on whether Tank Bigsby will replace Travis Etienne atop the depth chart:

“No, not at all. Travis is our guy. Tank had a good game, that’s just the way games go.”

Pederson has a 35% reliability rating on depth chart coachspeak
I'm not feeling good as an ETN owner. Tank just flat out looks better. Oh....and they won.
I think ETN has an injury causing him to be a little shy.
After a great summer, good for Tank. I love a good effort story.
We'll see what happens when ETN is healthy.

Many have the Jags cleaning house, including staff, and a long those lines sure I'd trade a back. Otherwise they're not expensive and the RB market stinks so I doubt they do. Ya gotta question the return value in a weak market

Cross-referencing to the ETN thread, any other ETN owners contemplating trading for Bigsby?

As some have said in the ETN thread, it’s very possible that Bigsby may be overly game script dependent going forward and D’Ernest Johnson may continue to get a lot of touches. Just trying to avoid fool’s gold.

very script dependent - if its close Tank will get carries - a lot if Etienne is out - if they are behind or 3rd down passing its all Johnson. Could do worse vs New England as it shouldnt be blown out at least

Tank Bigsby rushed 26 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns in the Jaguars’ Week 7 win over the Patriots.

Bigsby made his first career start with Travis Etienne sidelined this week. With only a two-down role, Bigsby appeared doomed by poor game-script after the Jags fell behind by 10 points in the second quarter. They rallied for 22 consecutive points before halftime and a field to open the third quart, setting Bigsby up for nearly 15 minutes of uninterrupted rush attempts. He ran 11 times for 34 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Jags salted away their lead. Bigsby made the most of Etienne’s absence in this game and may have earned himself a larger role once Etienne is healthy. His fantasy outlook for Week 8 against the Packers hinges on Etienne’s health.

They ran the ball NINETEEN STRAIGHT TIMES...

So who is the Jags back to own? Bigsby has been healthier, better, but also capped by not being a 3rd down back on a team that is going to be in bad game scripts for the foreseeable future. Between the two, Etienne may be the only one with startable upside. Just my thoughts, what do the rest of you think?

None of them.

ETN is still the better back. But you can't start him.

I disagree that ETN is the better back. But it doesn’t matter because you still can’t start either.

I don’t see any value in this time share until the roles are defined and Lawrence proves health. The fact that the coach is still there can’t make the players happy because the coach knows he’s a dead man walking and so does anyone else with a brain and a pulse.

Whole team is probably checked out for Mexico mentally at this point. I’d rather the PPR UPSIDE of etienne

If you keep one is it him or Etienne?
Etienne is healthy at least.

Both seem like “break glass in case of emergency” starts at this point.
Thanks. Debating keeping them both or dropping one to keep chrbonnet.
I guess your league doesn’t allow Out players to sit on IR?
Tough call but I’d keep Charbs and Etienne and then reassess when Bigsby is back.

Has anyone figure out the Bigsby/Etienne split yet?!

Absolutely so frustrating owning them both week to week. And I have to play one of them again this week.
(No Walker or Mac)

And when I do play them, it always seems to be the wrong one.
Game scripts, who gets the hot hand, both on and off injuries all year???
Wish I had neither.

I have no idea who even is the better back at this point, let alone the split on any given day.

Yup looks like I screwed it ip again.
Etienne the starting back.
Played Bigsby.
%$&$!#£¥ !!!!

Tuten is a pre season fumble away from a year on the taxi squad

I think Ettiene will get traded at some point

Tank will have this year to claim the job or face into timeshare obscurity for ever

How do we feel about Tank this year? Any spicy takes? 🔥

❤️ you all
Maybe the most difficult backfield in the whole league to get a handle on.

I’m avoiding for now but he’s the last one of the top 3 I’d want to pay for on simple principle in a RBBC I want the guy catching some balls. Hard to score with any kind of consistency on rushing yardage and TD’s unless you are a bell cow.

I'm in the minority, but I think this is actually a very clear backfield. Etienne is the #1, and Bigsby is the #2. I expect this to be a pass 1st offense, built around Thomas/Hunter. Bigsby is probably a guy I'd have in the 40s at RB.

I personally see Tuten as fool's gold, who likely contributes mostly on ST.

I think Etienne is being undervalued as a bounce back candidate for a guy who was RB3 in 2023, RB16 in 2022, has only 769 touches, and is only 26.

Kind of where I’m at. Just don’t see a 4th rounder coming in and taking over, especially one who had a fumbling issue in college. He may have a role, but don’t expect much out of him this year.

Not thrilled about any of them but like Tank the most since he is likely to get the goal-line action on an offense that should be better this year.

I think the biggest thing everyone is over looking is that Tuten was drafted by this coach and GM, the other two weren't.
Agreed and also they were going to draft a RB who will be 25 before the SB is played in round 3 and instead drafted a RB who will turn 24 within a week of the SB. Just don't think you target older RB's like this if you are viewing it as more of a ETN/Tank show with idea to develop the RB for later at a position that is not usually a big developmental position. They acted like a team targeting these RB's with a specific and immediate plan.

Just a hunch, but I think they trade either Etienne or Bigsby before the season, most likely Etienne and they roll with Tank and Tuten. Unless one of them get a serious injury before the season.

Doesn't appear to be much of a market for RBs. There are still FAs out there without a team and the draft class was loaded with RBs. I don't see anyone trading for a RB. Jags would have to just cut them outright.

I agree right now, but Etienne is better than anyone in free agency and this would be a move that happens in the preseason or before the trade deadline after a team needs a back because someone gets hurt.

I always look for team in need and link to a player that might be made available and the Bears are IMO the most likely team in the league to make a move for a RB and they have at least two links to RB's that could be available that I know.

One of those is the Jags. They hired Press Taylor as their passing game coordinator and he's been the OC for Tank and ETN basically since they entered the league.

The return would be minimal for either of them and really not much motivation to move Tank unless they thought he was just a poor fit/had no use for him. ETN would at least allow them to do a $6m salary dump, my guess is he'd only get back like a day 3 pick swap, a lot of NFL teams likely view his contract as a net negative. Put another way had he been an UFA I think it would have not been easy for him to get a one year deal like he's on now.

If Tank Bigsby--in his role today as a 3rd-year RB for JAX--were somehow dropped into this year's rookie draft in your dynasty league... where would he go?

Tough one. He proved (in year 2) that he can be a quality NFL back. None of the rookies have done that. That's the one big thing he has going for him. My gut reaction is 7th.

Finished a startup FFPC dynasty a couple weeks ago. 1 QB. Bigsby went in round 13 within a few picks of Hunter, Jordan, Neal and Giddens.

Kaleb and Harvey went in round 4. Scatteboo in round 7. Tuten in round 8 and Blue in round 9. Sampson went in round 11,

Surprised Trey Benson went in round 9. Rookie fever I guess.
