RB Travis Etienne, JAX (2 Viewers)

Im hoping that extra carries for Bigsby helps keep Etienne fresh. Etienne is good at a lot of things, but being a battering ram seems to wear him out.

Not to mention it would be nice to give him some of the under center runs in good situations and not these idiotic shotgun runs that never have blocking, or the weird FB dive done with a RB (Bigsby got stuck with that one week 1 which was a nice sight).

One thing is for sure, if he keeps fumbling TDs away, his carries will go down.
Just to be fair, ETN didn't fumble at all last season after 300+ touches. It's not like he has a fumbling problem. This one just happened to be particularly bad.
That's ok. Coaches are usually very reasonable with running backs that fumble balls away costing the team TDs.
It hasn't been a problem in the past. That is what he was trying to say.

If we want to talk fumbles and tipped balls leading to turnovers (INTs) that is exactly what got Bigsby benched last year. Everyone can make improvements but Bigsby was not good last year and caused a lot of turnovers.

FWIW I drafted Bigsby last year in one dynasty league and hoped he would turn out. I'm usually very patient with my RB draft picks as it can take soem time. But Tank cost his team a number of times last year and ended up trading him away as it was not looking good.

Great to see Tanks making progress but if people want to point out turnovers they should also realize Tank struggled last year. Unless there is an injury Etienne will still get his work.

Maybe this is a buy opportunity for Etienne... hmm

No I agree. I'm just saying NFL coaches are very fickle. I just remember Peterson in Philly. Miles Sanders was the supposed #1 back in 2019. Fumbled twice and lost 1 in a game against Detroit. He didn't get another carry that game. Jordan Howard then found himself getting 50% of the carries until he got hurt later in the year.

Fair point, although one would think that Etienne’s track record would give him some latitude. I doubt Bigsby would get the same latitude after last year.

Agreed. ETN in theory should get the benefit as the veteran but we never know.

I’m sure if this is start of an issue or if it happens again then some changes will be made or considered. Judging from ETNs body of work so far, I think it’s reasonable to believe this was just a very bad fumble that happened to be at the worst possible time.

Last year the coaches did say they wanted to have a bit more of a split backfield but Bigsby was so bad. Good for Bigs that he stuck with it and kept at it. He gets a second shot this year and the coaches will give him another chance. He was just so bad last year. Maybe this is the year it happens and Bigs gets a bit more work.

Now after 3 weeks of NFL play, are owners trying to buy, sell or hold this guy?
I'm holding. His value has dropped due to the bad offensive situation in Jacksonville, but hopefully they turn things around. The biggest concern heading into the season was the specter of Bigsby eating into ETN's workload - never thought it would be the ability for the Jags to actually move the ball.

I don't own Etienne but I was someone who thought this offense would be better this year. Second year for T-Law in the system and adding BTJ to the mix was going to be exciting.

WTF is going on here. It is very disjointed and T-Law is looking lost. This is rough as a multi-league T-Law owner. Everything is a mess.

Now, BUF did make MIA look like a total disaster too so maybe BUF D is just that good.

I was not expecting Buff to be top tier with all the off season loses to starters (sorry don't forget names).
But they were pretty solid past few years ... but that they are still Top 5 in 2024, would help me not cry @ my JAX investments so much.

Still makes zero sense that this guy cannot do anything meaningful in the passing game. One would think that would be is strong suit.

Pederson needs to draw up some screens. Something has to change or he is going to be out of a job.
How do you not get ETN in space every chance you can?

They have one of the leagues more gifted backs with the ball in his hands, and they ran him into a pile up the gut time and time again.

Does Pederson think he’s Bettis?

No stretch plays? I know TLaw isn’t Fields, but he runs well enough for the occasional RPO. How about a toss left or toss right? Anything to get ETN to the edge or in open field.

And yes - I’ve been screaming for screens. None to be found.

Worst offensive playcalling I’ve seen this year. Jags coaching is an embarsssment.

Totally agree with this. It was bad last year and it didn't work. I thought for sure first year playcaller would review errors, learn...nope. Just as bad, maybe worse.

It sure feels like the staff is starting to trust Bigsby more and more. With the 0-4 start, and Etienne due for an extension next offseason, I kinda wonder if he might be on the NFL trade block?

Travis Etienne rushed six times for 17 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 6 win over the Colts, adding six receptions for 43 yards.

It was a nightmare day for Etienne, who got out-carried by Tank Bigsby for the first time. Bigsby also won the snap battle. Etienne’s six receptions saved some face for fantasy managers, but Bigsby contributed a pair of thundering touchdown runs. A committee that’s only been growing more even could be turning in Bigsby’s favor for good. Etienne can’t really be considered a legitimate RB2 for Week 6 against the Bears’ tough defense, but he probably still projects for enough overall volume to remain in the FLEX mix.

Bigsby sure is putting up big-sby numbers, my only hope as an Etienne dynasty owner is that it's a sample size fluke. Bigsby had 50 carries last year and averaged 2.6 yards per carry. He has 34 carries so far this year and is averaging 8.0. So, obviously it's a fluke to some degree, since no one averages 8 yards per carry, but I'm hoping it's an extreme fluke.

Also an Etienne owner but I’m realistic to the fact that Bigsby is just good - maybe better than Etienne himself. It’s just a year later that Bigsby has posed a threat - he just got in the doghouse last year and enabled Etienne to have a huge workload.

Going to be impossible to keep Tank on the sidelines the way he is running. Travis is probably still the “starter”, but for FF purposes it does not look great. Travis holders need to hope for a trade.

Hope for a trade? Why would the Jags do that?
Well, maybe this last victory changes things. They were close to going 0-5 and may be interested in selling some pieces off. There have been some puff pieces on the subject although probably unlikely.

The picking up of ETN's 5th year option this past April may be an enticement to get out from under that contract, but they might just be happy to keep him around at that price. Unfortunately though, as much as NFL trades have picked up in recent years, they don't happen too often.

In the realm of possibility’s based on their current standing imo. The only hope for holders unless Tank gets a ***** in his armor.

Pederson said ETN is still "the guy". I'm not sure I believe him.
he can say that but it's going to be hard to put the genie back in the bottle. The door is now open and it's clear the coach is going to ride the hot hand regardless of who "starts". Not a good situation for ETN and I'm definitely going to look to package him for a RB upgrade to a desperate owner.

This situation feels like everyone jumps on the Bigsby train, jumps off the Etienne train, and then Etienne goes for 20 fantasy points next week. Wishful thinking?

I guess anything is possible but if he did get 20 it would be the first time this year (his high is 14.8). Bigsby has been coming on week by week similar and the trend doesn't seem to favor ETN especially since Tank played a big role in their first win.

ETA...just offered ETN + Sermon to the Achane owner who has Taylor as well and is 1-4.

Is it possible that Etienne was still nursing a sore shoulder and not being run as much? Is it also possible that the Colts defense sucked yesterday? As an Etienne owner I'm grasping at straws. Since I won this week though I'm sure I won't be in line to get Bigsby to hedge my bets.

I own ETN and Bigsby has just looked better most of the season. I'm nervous.

Yep “Bisby” looked great.

How do people feel about Etienne this morning in a tough matchup and now likely in a timeshare?

Sad that it’s come to this whether to start him, but things change quickly.

Out of curiosity, who are you starting - or benching - Etienne over?

Benching him behind Bijan, Gibbs, Swift. He is behind Godwin too, for me. Need to see something better to have him starting again.
