RB Trayveon Williams, CIN (1 Viewer)

No, better chance of not making the team because the 3 RB's are all but guaranteed of being on the roster and Williams is holding onto that last spot.
I'm thinking they will either draft or sign another RB.  That group looks pretty pathetic behind Mixon.

They won't cut Gio, they will let him play out his contract but that will end after the 2021 season so it's possible that in 2022 the only RB on left from the current group is Mixon so for sure they need some more. They seem to like drafting RB's more then most teams.

I believe one of the biggest mistakes we make in fantasy is hanging on to low draft capital RB backups.  History is not on their side.  Players like James Robinson are an outlier and usually show up early after being drafted, like Robinson did, but RBs taken from the 4th round on down are not usually worth taking up a roster spot almost all the time, unless your rosters are so big it doesn't matter.  They simply don't hit.

The only thing I would say as a counter to that is that 5 of the top 12 RB's in PPG/PPR scoring were drafted were drafted in round 5 or later or not drafted at all. Jones, Robinson, Gaskin, Ekeler and Carson.

I think you made a post about a week or so ago after doing some research on low success rate of RB's chosen in round 4 and for whatever reason that's been a bad round for RB's but some success stories later but for sure round 2 has been the RB honey hole for the past few years and for me I tend to view top 75 pick as a premium pick on a RB where I feel stronger about the investment.

ETA-what I would say is an outlier is a RB who has been in the league for a year or two not doing anything ever amounting to much. And by not doing anything I don't mean not being a fantasy starter but showing you something like Ekeler did his first few years, I would say like Tony Pollard did last year. But a RB as quiet as Williams ever amounting to much later, that's finding the needle in the haystack.

That previous post indicated that 0 RBS drafted 4th round or later in the last 5 years  haven't done squat (Robinson wasn'tHide drafted and is an outlier).  I wouldn't call Gaskin great, but I'll give you that one.  Point being, how long do you want to hold a RB with low draft capital and still hasn't done anything?

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said RB Trayveon Williams could have a role in the team's backfield.

Though Taylor said he "likes" Joe Mixon as the Bengals' starting running back, Mixon's persistent legal troubles and the organization potentially souring on him could open up opportunities for Williams and rookie Chase Brown. Re-signed by Cincinnati in March, Williams could move up the team's depth chart with Samaje Perine's departure to Denver. He's averaged 5.1 yards per carry on 47 rushes over the past three seasons. Taylor said Williams has shown improvements over his four years with the Bengals. This isn't the first time Taylor has talked up Williams. In March, Taylor said the team has "high hopes" for the little-used back and that Williams "just hasn’t had an opportunity because we had two really good running backs in front of him."

Bengals RB Trayveon Williams was carted off the field with an apparent leg injury.
Williams reportedly suffered a right leg injury in camp and was helped to the cart with assistance from trainers. The fifth-year back is competing for a shot as the Bengals’ third-down option behind Joe Mixon and can ill-afford time away from camp. We’ll likely know more on his injury soon, but his absence could open the door for rookie Chase Brown and veteran Chris Evans to see more snaps.
