RB/WR Cordarrelle Patterson, Free Agent (1 Viewer)

Went to bed early, so woke up early... and saw NFLN reporting both Peterson and Gehrart likely out. This do anything for Patterson?
Last year when AP was out, Percy Harvin had a good game but Gerhart was still in.

Both AP and Gerhart being out? I don't know. I'm assuming he should get more targets though. Could be good.

I'm gonna start CP over Jordy with confidence. Hoping 7 catches for 100 yards, 5 rushes for 40 yard, and a TD plus bonus 120 return yards.

Anyone else have the Larry Fitz/Patterson decision today? May seem like a no brainer but with 1 pt per 25 kick return yards & Fitz's hard matchup it is worth having the conversation.

I'm starting both. But if I had to choose one, gotta go with the hot hand in Fitzgerald. He's been a monster last few weeks. You should be more concerned about Carson Palmer than Fitzgerald's match up.

With all these guys out - I'm putting him in over TY Hilton.

I think the defense keys on Patterson since he's the stud of the offense now, but after watching this guy week after week after week make plays - I think he's good enough to have a productive day even with a lot of attention on him.

The guy's been a freak on the field here recently. Here's to hoping he really steps up today.

Rolling the dice on him today too. Really hoping for tons of touches and targets and that he breaks one. PPR/KO return td's counting helps the decision too.

He averages something like 8-10 touches on average, I'm hoping for a legitimate bump due to desperation haha.

I watched the entire game. Patterson was very involved in the game plan and could have had a 3 TD day. He had a defender knock the ball out of his hands in the end zone in the 1st quarter (a play he probably should have made). He scored the late touchdown on a nice little corner of the end zone grab. Then at the end of the game, Cassel had him open on like a 40 yard bomb and he was mauled by the defender on the 1 yard line. One thing I didn't expect was all the targets that Greg Jennings got.

really excited for this guy's dynasty prospects. he's starting to come on and with another offseason, a healthy Peterson, a possible upgrade at HC/OC/QB, he could develop into a really good fantasy player pretty quickly.

Another guy for Minny where "all he does is score touchdowns!"

for those of us old-schoolers who remember that line.

Patterson is really impressing these last few weeks. If his involvement continues like this he will be a legit WR2 next year.

That run he scored on was nice. The explosive cut he made and acceleration up field were filthy. This guy could be a 150 carry RB in the NFL on top of being a WR.

Don't know about 150 but they really should get him 5-6 carries a game.

I have this gut feeling that Minny is where Cutler will end up going. That would certainly be an upgrade over the three headed monstrosity they have now.

Gonna be a steal in redraft next year.
where do folks think he will go in redraft next year? i have a league where i would be able to keep him as a 10th rounder which seems like pretty good value. Id assume he will go around round 7ish?
I can keep him for that price next season as well and plan on doing so (along with Keenan Allen for an 11th)

Trying to decide which one of those guys to start next week in my title game...its a return yard league so I am leaning Patterson

Either way I'm set at WR next season with those guys as cheap keepers

I'm on board with you here (we aren't really going out on a limb with what we've seen so far), but I'd like to add to this:

I can see him as a WR1 (probably the second half of next year) depending on who Minny gets at QB and how that QB performs. I'm very interested to see what happens there. If Patterson works this offseason and makes the improvements that a first year WR should, then I think he can make that jump with the right QB. Even if Minny happens to get a good QB, I wouldn't expect Patterson to really solidify himself till mid season.

This is all wishful thinking, of course - there's a lot of variables here, but if the Vikings get a stud QB I would wouldn't bet against Patterson

Cordarrelle Patterson (chest) was upgraded to "full" in Thursday's practice.

It puts him on track to suit up for Sunday's finale against the Lions. Finishing his rookie year on a strong note, Patterson will be on the WR2 radar in 2014.

Cordarrelle Patterson (chest) is listed as probable for Week 17.

He'll be all systems go for Sunday's finale against the Lions.

Patterson approaching return record

By Ben Goessling | ESPN.com

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- If he's able to return one kickoff for just four yards on Sunday, Vikings rookie Cordarrelle Patterson will break the Minnesota Vikings' record for kickoff return yards in a single season. Special-teams coordinator Mike Priefer didn't know about it until his son mentioned it to him this week. But Patterson's paying attention to it.

"Oh, yeah," Priefer said. "He's already mentioned it to me several times."

Patterson is closing out one of the great seasons by a kick returner in NFL history, averaging 33.6 yards a return and bringing two kicks back for touchdowns. He is the only player with two kickoff return TDs this season, and Patterson's average is the second-highest single-season mark since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, trailing only Jim Duncan of the Baltimore Colts in 1970.

And one return on Sunday would put him past Buster Rhymes' 1985 mark of 1,345 yards in a season (though, it should be noted, Patterson does not yet have a rapper named after him).

"I know about it. If I worry about that this week they probably won't kick me the ball and it'll make me mad," Patterson said. "I try not to worry about it. ... Don't even pay no attention."

Opponents haven't kicked to Patterson in two of the Vikings' past four games, and it's worth noting that he hasn't returned more than two kicks in an indoor game since Oct. 27, when he set an NFL record with his 109-yard return against the Green Bay Packers. Priefer suspected the windy conditions in Cincinnati last Sunday were preventing the Bengals from kicking the ball out of the end zone against Patterson, but the Lions won't have to deal with that problem on Sunday at the Metrodome.

"This weekend, Detroit’s going to try and kick touchbacks," Priefer said. "Both their kickers -- they have two -- [David] Akers, he’s been kicking all touchbacks the past two games and Sam Martin has done a great job, being the rookie punter they have. Either kicker that kicks off, I expect them to kick it as high and far as they can."

The Vikings will likely have to manage teams trying to kick around Patterson for as long as he's their return man, but the rookie said he's simplified the return process just by listening to Priefer. The Vikings had him in position to return several short kicks last week, as well, and they'll be ready if the Lions try that again on Sunday. But with wind out of the equation, it seems unlikely Detroit would do anything other than try to boot the ball out of the end zone.

"Seems like he knows everything back there," Patterson said of Priefer. "He knows when a team's going to kick it to me. He knows what to do and if they don't kick it to you don't let it stress you out. Just go out and play your game and do what you know how to do."

Wow! The run this guy just made was about as ridiculous as I've seen in a while. Looked eerily similar to a play he made against Georgia last year.

Pretty much. His stock is rising, I expect a 5th round ADP next year which still might be good value if Cassel starts or they get an NFL quality starter.

Redraft? 5th round seems high. The talent is there though, a second year jump like Jeffery wouldn't surprise me.

I think he was thinking about throwing a pass, but tucked it in an ran fora 50 yard TD instead.
Yeah, he definitely wanted to pass that. Saw it wasn't there and burst upfield. He had absolutely no business getting to that corner and the cut back at the sideline was unreal.

Yep redraft. That would put him around WR 24 which is about where he has been the second half of the season. 5th might be a slight stretch but not by much. I fully expect him to be gone in most drafts by end of sixth.
