RB/WR Cordarrelle Patterson, Free Agent (2 Viewers)

I'm starting to think he's the possible heir to AP. Not next year, but if he busts as a wr he could take over the year after. He's a bit tall for a back but he makes some crazy plays. Haven't seen him do much as a wr yet, will be interesting to watch next year.

Really bad posting. CP can't run consistently between the tackles.

Hah, I don't know that we've seen evidence of this either way that said it was still a bad post. They don't really hand the ball off to him for traditional "between the tackles" running plays. However, he sure looks like he is doing a great Percy Harvin impression (can't wait to see what he does with Harvin-like targets).

Another TD.... 6 now in the last 5 games.

Last 8 games.

28 receptions, 300 yds, 4 TDs.

9 carries, 152 yds, 3 TDs.

Targets first 8 games, 23.

Targets last 8 games, 53.

Pretty much. His stock is rising, I expect a 5th round ADP next year which still might be good value if Cassel starts or they get an NFL quality starter.
Redraft? 5th round seems high. The talent is there though, a second year jump like Jeffery wouldn't surprise me.
Yep redraft. That would put him around WR 24 which is about where he has been the second half of the season. 5th might be a slight stretch but not by much. I fully expect him to be gone in most drafts by end of sixth.
They'd have to get an upgrade at QB for me to see that. Johnny Football or Bridgewater and I can buy it.

I see, so how many times have they tried?

He's an elite talent with the ball in his hands but unproven skills otherwise. Guess there's no way he could be a rb.

.
One as far as I remember and it was like a 50 yd TD run.

VERY happy about drafting him and Keenan Allen as my only Rookies this year, 20 team dynasty!

Didnt get to see the highlights of Patterson yet... but how did he look??

Safe to say he is a top 15 WR going into the future??

Dude makes unbelievable plays..! Every time he touches the ball he has a chance to take it to the house... and I know thats a broad statement, any player can score TD's but Patterson is something special. Not another "young" up and coming WR I would rather have than Patterson... in a touchdown league at that!

Doesnt need to be running the ball full-time, they have ADP on their roster!!! What a MEAN 1-2 punch though!

i'm buying - hopefully he falls under the radar in redrafts next year since his stats weren't anything special this year.

No shot. The cat is out of the bag on CP and he will be highly targeted in any and all leagues next August.

As a dynasty owner, I wouldn't trade him for most of the WRs ranked from WR10-WR25 in dynasty rankings. He just has the look in his limited role to have ability to ascend to a Julio Jones type ceiling. In redrafts, I'll be interested in seeing how he gets ranked by FBG and other sources, since FFers go by those. I'd guess he'll be considered a 7th-8th round pick and could be a great sleeper in the 5th-6th.

I don't know if I've ever seen a guy get to full speed faster than he does. It's amazing.

He needs to develop his catching skills though. He's too much of a body catcher right now.

Not that it matters here, but I do know that Dallas had him rated as a first round prospect and was one of 2 left on the board when they first came on the clock. They traded down. But could you imagine Dez on the opposite side of Cordarelle?

Didn't they still reach for their center?

The GM should be flogged for this, it should matter to Cowboy fans. They also got Williams in the draft. Instead of that trio they were running out Beasley and a lame Austin much of the time.

Much happier to see him in Min though.

Hoping that he spends the offseason with a proven teacher (kind of like the Larry Fitz school) to hone his skills as a receiver.

I'm just jumping into this thread now, so I apologize if this has been covered already. What is the general consensus on Patterson's stock having to play the next two years outdoors? Is it not a big deal? I would think it should slow him down a little.

TCF Bank stadium has field turf. So he's not on grass.

They're not going to put heating coils beneath it, but they will keep it covered so it won't freeze over.

Ah. Good stuff. Thanks!

Hester plays on Soldier Field and I think is a good comp for how Patterson currently gets his points.

I guess my question about Patterson is if he has the hands to make the leap to something more, or will just get returns and some normal plays?

Where are you getting the information that they aren't putting heating coils under the surface? Every article I've seen cites that as one of the improvements being done.

Dallas had the center rated somewhere around #23 overall. Same as the WR Williams. Dallas actually had the guy the Giants drafted, just before those two. Also in that range for Dallas was the TE they drafted, Escobar.

In effect, according to Jerry, they got 3 guys (Frederick, Escobar, and Williams) who were rated in the 22-25 overall range on their board. After 1 year, they seem more right than wrong.

But as for Patterson, he was somewhere in the teens overall and a carried a 1st round grade. He's definitely showing that ability.

Can't remember where but I heard/read it this last weekend. I'll see if I can find a source.

Either way, for this discussion, the turf won't affect Patterson's performance.

(KFFL) Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarelle Patterson will participate in the 2014 Pro Bowl as a replacement for Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown.
Interesting - some of the ultimate replacements for the Pro Bowl get to be real reaches, but I wouldn't have thought that Patterson would be even close to the first replacement at WR.

Am I missing something? Patterson is NFC and Brown is AFC... How can he replace Brown?

Probably has something to do with the new format, which I'm not too sure about. I'm sure someone will chime in here soon to let us know. I'm curious too.

AFC/NFC doesn't matter anymore, right?

It's like a playground draft now: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2013/07/31/pro-bowl-afc-nfc-scrapped-player-draft/2604163/

Back to CP, I'm guessing that this was a backended way to honor his kick returning acumen since they got rid of that position for the Pro Bowl this year.

Right its fantasy football for real!!!!!!

This is very likely the case but I'm very much hoping that he does see quite a bit of time playing wr during the game. This could also go a long way towards answering the burning question that many fantasy owners have about how well Patterson can look with a "real" qb getting him the ball.

True, although considering that the game is not much more than a glorified touch football game, I wouldn't put too much stock on a big game from him.

Wow, his stock is rising fast now. Ryan McDowell from DLF ranked Patterson as the #9 WR in his latest dynasty rankings. His rankings are with a 3+ year horizon so guys like Johnson, Fitzgerald and Jackson come in very low in his rankings. I also noticed that Chad Scott from The Fake Football tweeted: "I don't see how Cordarrelle Patterson makes it out of the 2nd round of dynasty startups come July..."

I think it is safe to say that Patterson will be a hot commodity this offseason.

Do you have the link to his updated rankings (can't find it on DLF for some reason).

Check his Twitter: https://twitter.com/RyanMc23 under photos/videos.

Offered Fitzgerald + a 2nd for Patterson - was turned down in a return yards league.
That is a better offer then I have received for him.

1st Offer:

2nd round rookie pick for Cordarrelle Patterson

2nd Offer:

Greg Jennings WR MIN & 5th round rookie pick For Cordarelle Patterson
