AtlantaFalcons.com's Tori McElhaney believes Cordarrelle Patterson will take on more of a pass-catching role this season.
"From conversations with both Patterson and [head coach Arthur] Smith throughout minicamp, it would seem both parties want to get back to Patterson's 2021 role now that Smith has Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson at his disposal," McElhaney said. C-Patt in 2021 caught 52 of 69 targets for 548 yards and five touchdowns -- totals that fell off dramatically in 2022 as he took on a larger rushing role in Atlanta's conservative offense. Only five running backs had more targets than Patterson in 2021. It's difficult to pinpoint where the veteran would fit in with Robinson and Allgeier in the backfield, though Patterson could find a fantasy-friendly role if either back missed time in 2023. NFL Network's Eric Edholm believesPatterson could split pass-catching duties with Robinson in 2023.

That's what I'm thinking...I would be surprised to see 50 receptions/50 rushes...or some type of split of that ilk.AtlantaFalcons.com's Tori McElhaney believes Cordarrelle Patterson will take on more of a pass-catching role this season.

Bijan will have some stuff to learn and he'll be an example. Bijan will whiff on some blitz pickup and be benched for a couple plays. Bijan will need a rest and possibly Patterson will be a more favorable goal line back at times.AtlantaFalcons.com's Tori McElhaney believes Cordarrelle Patterson will take on more of a pass-catching role this season.

Falcons coach Arthur Smith said Cordarrelle Patterson will be out for a “couple of weeks” with a soft-tissue injury.
Smith didn’t give any more details on the nature of the injury. He did say that Patterson would likely miss the remainder of the preseason before being re-evaluated ahead of Week 1. It sounds like there is a chance Patterson isn’t ready for the team’s opening game versus the Panthers. His absence could mean slightly more work for Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier in the passing game.
Cordarrelle Patterson (thigh) is expected to be ready for the Falcons’ Week 2 matchup against the Packers.
Patterson was listed on the injury report with a thigh injury throughout the week, but was also a full-participant in each of the team’s three practices. The veteran running back has a good chance of being active against the Packers, but fantasy managers should temper expectations in his return. The Falcons utilized a heavy dose of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier in Week 1, which could leave little volume left for Patterson.
Somehow I believe he is. He may be the Benjamin Button of football, getting younger with age.Is he still a thing?![]()
More like 3He's playing the Joker position in this offense. I can see him getting 10 touches per game on avg. See what he does with 'em.

“Patterson was signed almost immediately after the league changed its kickoff rule, potentially allowing kick returners to have a bigger role. However, it’s hard to imagine the Steelers gave him $6 million over two years to be only a kick returner. An accomplished receiver and running back over his career, Patterson will likely have a bigger role than being a specialist.”
As predicted Tomlin is loving him so it's only going to build from here. I mean he's so big n tough what happens when he smashes into the prideful defense? More love n respect.@32BeatWriters“Patterson was signed almost immediately after the league changed its kickoff rule, potentially allowing kick returners to have a bigger role. Love Cordarelle. Some people think it's a put-on but I'm just not sure. I mean, this cat is a HOF. He's got 9 KR return TD career and the next closest guy has 8. I knew this guy was special back in the day. If he can score 1-2 more under these new rules this year, then his HOF case gets even stronger.
I can't speak to your fantasy team, but I think Patterson's life goal is to add a few more onto his record. You couldn't imagine this dioesn't mean something special to him.

Can you expand on this? This year's Jonnu.
Just a hunch. But Smith loves to zag, sometimes illogically, as seen last year when he ignored top talent inside the RZ in favor of gimmick plays to Jonnu. Can you expand on this? This year's Jonnu.
Doesn't really matter unless there is an injury to #1 or #2.Burt LautenThe #Steelers are downgrading RB/KR Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) to OUT for Monday’s game vs. NYG. The team is also adding QB Justin Fields (hamstring) to the injury report and will be listed as questionable.x.com
