God Bless America: Same idea as idiocracy but done much much better. Thought the girl in it was great and except to see her in plenty of stuff in the future. Frank was a true hero. The monologue at the end was cringe worthy and way to heavy handed. Can't believe that Bobcat wrote this. Never struck as that smart of a guy. 4/5
Watched this last night, and can't give it the high grade that you did. REALLY liked the idea, and I agree with a lot of what Bobcat was trying to say here. You are correct in bringing up Idiocracy, as I dug the social commentary that was in this movie. I would tell people it's the ******* child of Idiocracy and Super. There were 3 things that really started bogging it down for me: too many long speeches, too repetitive, and the girl really bugged me. Probably would give a 8/10 for the ideas behind the movie, and closer to a 5/10 for execution. Still would recommend people who like the dark comedies to check it out.
The Switch:
Been avoiding this one for awhile now, but thought I would take a stab. I like Bateman, and Anniston has been funny lately so it couldn't be that bad, right? Oh, I was so wrong. Found this one to be completely unfunny and it really was a struggle to get through. Avoid this one if rom/com is what you are looking for.
3/10
Shine a Light:
Decent concert flim, but really find the Stones hard to watch lately. I think people watch older bands like that in hope to capture a glimpse of them from their peak, but a lot of the songs felt flat and like they weren't on the same page or something. Would probably recommend this to big fans of theirs, but not casual fans.
A Certain Kind of Death:
Documentary about what happens when people die without family/next of kin. Showed (with way too much detail) scenes of the deaths, behind the scenes investigations, and putting together info from their lives. Not the best doc I've seen, but still enough interesting stuff in here to consider watching it if you can stomach the images of corpses.
