Reche Caldwell (1 Viewer)

I was watching the game yesterday and it seemed to me that anytime Brady was in trouble he would look for Caldwell. I don't know how many times he was targeted, but it seemed like that it was quite a bit. Even in the post game conf, Brady acknowledged Caldwell as the receiver for stepping up. I think he might be a good WW pickup that will put up decent numbers.

Brady's go to guy is whoever is open, which is terrible for fantasy owners, because it changes game to game depending on what the defense gives.

Pretty much. It is almost impossible to predict from week to week which NE WR will have the best game.

This is correct. This week happened to be Caldwell's week, but I would hesitate to start any Patriots WR in any but the very deepest of leagues. And if I had to choose just one Pats WR from here on out, it'd probably still be Gabriel.

I understand that the Pats offense is designed to throw to the open receiver, but yesterday when Brady was getting blitzed often and heavily, he seemed to always look in the direction of Caldwell. He didn't have time to see if he was open or not, he just threw the ball his way. That's the way i saw the game. I could prolly be wrong, but he might be worth a risk in some leagues.

Brady does not have a go to receiver. We had this same discussion this year over Watson . . . and then Gabriel . . . and now Caldwell.

Week 1- Ben Watson 7 targets

Week 2- Troy Brown 8 targets

Week 3- Watson/Gabriel 11 targets

Week 4- Gabriel 8 targets

Week 5- Watson 7 targets

Week 7- Caldwell 9 targets

Week 8- Watson 13 targets

Week 9- Watson 8 targets

Week 10- Caldwell 10 targets

Whats interesting is Watson who has been targetted 67 times and only has 35 catches for 448y and 1 td. I guess its a glass half empty issue- Watson is being targetted a ton but he hasnt turned it into the kind of FPs one would expect.

Gabriel was benched after his fumble, which is probably the main reason Caldwell was targeted so much. That said, it was very encouraging to see Reche hold onto the slick ball and make plays when called upon. Patriot Nation hopes it continues next week and beyond....
