Ticket to Ride.I played Risk with my kids until they realized the only way to beat Dad was to gang up on him. Then it became impossible to win, so I quit playing.

Risk has the potential to be a great game but it almost always ends up with people ganging up to beat someone rather that focusing on winning themselves.

Just to add another to the list of great games for this age - Galaxy Trucker. The first half of the game you build a spaceship by matching up pieces (not as easy as it sounds) in a time limit. The second half you watch as your creation gets ripped to pieces. Great fun, as long as you don't mind watching your stuff get blown up.

WHAT? ive played this with all adults and we have a blast every time. This is the game to get IMO

Agreed...this game is great. With the ages of the kids here, I'd probably recommend the kids version (I think it's Apples to Apples Jr, in a green box) for a few years, although the 12 yr old is about ready for the regular version. They just won't get all the inside jokes of the people cards in the regular version or know what some things are.

I bought the Ticket to Ride app for my ipad, I have been playing the hell out of that game online recently. So much fun. Definitely worth the 6 bucks or whatever the app costs.
