WR - Donte Stallworth, Muhsin Muhammed, Michael Jenkins, Terrance Copper, Ernest Wilfordlethal ;)
WR's are a dime a dozen. TE's are where it's at in this league...and I have Heap.Obviously I plan on starting 2 RB's (which is also why I drafted RB's that are a good part of their teams passing attacks).I'm not skeered. :P

22.04 WR Ashley Lelie, Falcons (free agent) -

I know he pouted like an eight year old girl with the Broncos last year, and he got stuck having Michael Vick occasionally throwing him the ball in Atlanta after that, but 22.04?! With the heavy premium placed on WRs in this league, I guess I am shocked to see him tumble SO far down the board. He's only 27, and might be one of the 2-3 top UFAs in this year's free agent class at WR. If he re-signs with Atlanta? , unless Petrino can turn Vick into a QB. If he re-signs somewhere else? Well, we'd have to see where that "somewhere else" is. However, he's got more talent/potential than probably 15-20 other WRs who went off the board before he did, in my opinion.

Not expecting him to be a stud or even an every-week starter for me, but he's about as quality a WR6 as a person is gonna find at this stage of the draft.

I assume you'll be WR heavy with those 1sts. By most accounts, this is a good year to need WRs with those picks. Right now, Jones has potential, and Driver/Glenn will do fine for a year or two, but it seems WR is your weak spot. If this was intentional with those picks, good work.
Solid squad. You should compete in year one and you'll have a pretty good long-term foundation if you can make those early picks count. The only thing that troubles me about your squad is the lack of star power. You have a lot of guys who are good, but few who are great.
Thank you both.I'm not done yet, so let me finish out this squad. :thumbdown:I do anticipate WRs as a rookie draft strong possibility, but at the same time I have options open. The first 8-10 rookies are the most coveted, so I'm happy to have options there. Now to discuss my last two selections.....

TE J. King May See Bigger Role In 2007?

Pat Yasinskas, Charlotte Observer, Sporting News - [Full Article]

TE Jeff King was brought along slowly as a rookie, but he will likely take on a bigger role in 2007. King has good hands and could challenge for playing time in receiving situations. He made steady improvement as a blocker last season and that earned him confidence from the coaching staff.

I've followed Jeff since watching his games live and on TV at Virginia Tech. Great great hands and the ability to play on every down.

22.09 Jason Avant PHI WR

Cost me a late rookie pick (meh) - the 50th rookie pick was worth it (4.02 rookie, 49.02 on the site).

Seeing as how Avant is going to be the WR2 or 3 in Philly in his 2nd year (everyone forgets that he was the DRAFTED WR for Philly last year (ok, yes, they drafted Jeremy Bloom too) but the former Wolverine is a good reciever.

Eagles Ready To Move On Without WR Stallworth

Sean McCann, South Jersey Courier Post - [Full Article]

The Eagles are fully prepared to face 2007 without WR Donte Stallworth, if it should come to that. GM Tom Heckert made the team's point of view plain. "Donte's a young guy that's had some injury concerns," Heckert said. "Realistically, the guy caught 38 balls or whatever he did, and it's tough to gauge what the market is". The Eagles currently have five receivers under contract, WR Reggie Brown, WR Greg Lewis, WR Hank Baskett, WR Jason Avant and WR/KR Jeremy Bloom. "Hank and Jason Avant, I think they've proven they can play and they will be performers for us," Heckert said.

Jermaine Phillips was the 4th highest scoring safety in this scoring format last season. He's not old, but he doesn't have a track record of success and isn't that highly regarded. Still seems like great value as the 21st safety off the board though.

...And he'll be benched or replaced. The Bucs complained about him all year but he was all they had. Can you say Mike Doss to Tampa? Too much depth at safety to take a shot on him.Just my two cents. I don't know alot though.

maybe, maybe not.I'd agree that he's not a very good player and I wasn't too excited about taking him. But, the sure things at safety are pretty much all gone at this point.

Yeah, but I meant to draft Morton Anderson. I was going to drop James Anderson - are you saying he's good and I should keep him? :o

24.03 - LB Leroy Hill, Seahawks. A good, young LB to help fill-out my corps. I've been hoping to go with a 3-4 defensive scheme, which will require at least 6-7 good LBs. Hill makes LB #6.....though there's still a couple other guys out there who will be tempting for me if they fall too much farther as well.

24.04 - CB DeAngelo Hall, Falcons. Happy to see him still on the board. Think this will give me the best CB tandem in the league in Tillman, Winfield and Hall. I see Hall as an excellent "interchangeable part" with either Tillman or Winfield depending upon injuries, byes, match-ups or "the hot hand." We'll see.......

Catching up on my picks:

25.04 S Antoine Bethea, Colts - A young player who really showed a lot during the 2006 season. I've been following him closely since Training Camp last year, and think he can be a productive safety in IDP leagues for years to come. Maybe not "S1" material, but certainly S2-S3 in a 16-team league.

25.13 DE Patrick Kerney, Falcons (UFA) - A bit of a gamble here, depending upon where he lands in free agency. Still I saw him as one of the better options available at this "position of need" on my roster, so I decided to play a little free agency roulette..... :lmao:

26.10 PK Adam Vinatieri, Colts - Traded down from 26.04 to this pick. Had been thinking another DE/DB here, but the more I looked at my options, the more I decided to dip my toes into the PK pool at this stage (only 12 roster spots still open). I LOVE dome kickers in FFL, and Vinatieri is arguably one of the best to ever play the game. He's clutch, he's 34 (which is actually somewhat "young" for kickers) and he plays on one of the more explosive offenses in the NFL. What more could a guy want at the kicker position?

My roster through 26.10:

Also well positioned in the rookie draft with 8 of 80 picks including 1.05, 1.07 and 1.08.
Updating after my last few selections:24.07 Buckhalter, Correll PHI RB

C-Buck was supposed to be a nice backup to Westy, but rumored to be getting even better chances if he goes to free agency.

25.10 Hill, Tye STL CB

Hill's the starting CB in STL, so I'm good with the youth there.

26.07 Gregg, Kelly BAL DT

Yes he's over 30, but he's a very good DT and a strong part of a solid Baltimore defense.

27.10 Colvin, Rosevelt NE LB

Nice to pair with Vrabel, but a good young LB in his own right.

28.07 Bodden, Leigh CLE CB

Another young CB with strong upside. Could be my starter next to McAllister.

I respectfully and completely disagree with this. I think AP will be a uber stud Rb...I cant say that for Lynch. He also got 2.01 and 2.15, and gave away a next years #1. Personally, I think he skinned the other owner.

im really kind of baffled why you dont like this...the 2.01 is essentially a first...i know i can find a taker to move the 2.01 and 2.15 for a 1st this year, so, the only way i see i lose is if my pick next year is in the top 2-3 picks, and who plays ff with that philosophy......and imo lynch doesnt compare to ap

What's the over/under on a SJax2 type of situation with Brian's starting lineup? I say 5 weeks.BTW, I'm not a fan of the trade, Brian. You guys essentially swapped your 3rd round rookie picks, with you trading down five spots. Even ignoring that, the real point of the deal, though, was you trading up from 1.02 to 1.01 and you gave up the following rookie picks to do that trade-up: 2.01; 2.15; 2008 1.?? That's a steep price, especially when you've already got Lynch and Johnson within your reach to begin with.
