Redskins at Rams (1 Viewer)

S-Jax rushed for a TD, got up, spiked the ball, got flagged and benched. So much trash in this game.
that's a bit of a stretch. He was called down, got up and pleaded his case with the officials who said again he was down and he turned around and spiked it as though that would prove he actually scored. It was an incredibly stupid thing to do.

I've ner been able to figure out why coaches do that. Pro kickers can't be easily frozen as it is....but if you give them a pracctice kick, you're throwing away whatever good freezing might have done.

Question - if SJax hadn't gotten flagged, could Fisher have challenged that spot and possibly (probably) gotten the TD call?
Yes and he wasted a challenge on the previous play.
The flag should have had no bearing on the ability to challenge.
Mike Pereira ‏@MikePereiraNo. RT @david_mccluskey: SJAX STL spiked ball and got called for 15. What if they reviewed the play and it showed a TD. Would penalty stay?

the challenge wasn't wasted...they reviewed it automatically....but just took a while to do it. It was an auto review so there was no need for a challenge. he threw the flag because they weren't auto reviewing it though. ultimately it was a wash - which is why Skeletor was so pissed off because throwing the flag on an unchallengeable play is a penalty. The refs knew it was their fault though so they didn't penalize the Rams. ergo, he could have challenged the play even with the penalty. I'm not sure why he didn't, other than being told it wasn't actually a TD, which it was hard to tell from the one replay we got. he did reach the ball over, but he looked down to me :shrug:

He actually should have been flagged for throwing a challenge flag. Mike Ferrera explained why the play wasn't challengable.

I thought he was still on top of someone when he reached across...

Fisher's an idiot. Jackson had 6/55 before they got into the goal-line situation and was killing the Redskins. Richardson can't even get 4 YPC. Pathetic.

@jthom1

Rams beat writer for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Jim Thomas ‏@jthom1

Rams RB Steven Jackson hasn't returned to the game since being penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for spiking the ball in 2nd quarter.

FF, the refs, and Haslett have ruined this game for me.

Lifelong Skins fan who started S-Jax and playing against RGIII....
