Reggie (Bush) fined 10K (1 Viewer)

I doubt if the league makes it mandatory that he can't play if he keeps this up. to adidas for a pretty good marketing strategy 10K a game is peanuts when they probably pay 5 times that for a 30second commercial that gets repeated numerous times a week thorough the season. I mean Portis and Shawn Taylor were fined for wearing the wrong color socks on purpose, Bush's is much better and the company picks up the tab.

It's also the reason Nolan can't wear a suit. Reebok pays big bucks for the coaches to all wear their (mostly ugly) stuff.J
That's ridiculous... So if Tom Landry was still coaching, he'd be denied the hat then?
Yes he would kleck. I agree it sucks. Rumor is Reebok is coming out with more "business" looking "official" attire. But that would likely be beyond cheesy. I say let em wear whatever they want. If Belichick wants to wear a hoodie and Nolan wants to wear Armani, have at it. J

Bush will break out the shoes in Monday/Sunday night games, if the Saints have any at this point, or the playoffs.
Did he just use the words "Saints" and "playoffs" in the same sentance without the word "not" in between them. :wall:

Funny story that Reebok had to design a style after the infamous hoodie called "The Belicheck" for this year because of the demand. Then Belicheck throws another wrench in by cutting off the sleeves...not making the boys at Reebok very happy. As long as it's Reebok...it's then up to the team ownership to enforce the coaches dress code. Some owners care, some don't, some don't want to mess with the coaches karma....and some coaches have their attire laid out for them by a 3rd party...some are very involved.

One point of clarification and one of insight:

- Joe is correct...you CAN tape over logos on your footwear in the NFL. It's fine as long as no logo shows.

- Adidas will be an NFL shoe licensee NEXT SEASON. Nice move here to gain a little attention before the new roll out for '07.

This is the reason that I got DishNetwork instead of DirectTV and won't buy any more Reebok anything. This monopoly crap is getting out of control. Remember just a few years ago when authentic jerseys cost what replica jerseys cost now? Yeah, the year before Reebok became exclusive. Remember what Sunday Ticket used to cost? I think it's criminal that the league can tell a player what kind of shoe to wear. I love what Belichick does. I believe anyways, that he dresses like a couch potato in defiance of being made to wear only Reebok. "Make me wear it, I make it look like crap." These guys do wear their proper uniform, but come on! Footwear is fairly personal. Most people are more particular about buying shoes than they are underwear, and look what your skivies hold!

Your feelings are understandable, but there a valid points for the current situation. The league's manufacturing rights used to be bidded on like something on EBay. They would send out bids for the tees, bids for the polos, bids for the headwear, etc. This of course drove the price way down, but the QUALITY as well. The NFL finally realized that their licensed business was turning into crap.So they decided they would limit the licensees in every category. 2 in apparel, 2 in outerwear, 3 in footwear, 1 in throw blankets, etc. What this did was yes, drive the price up. But also improved the quality of product you are getting now. The apparel manufacturers, including Reebok, were still competing against each other for your dollar. So they are forcing each other to innovate and keep the price reasonable. You can go buy a Performance NFL polo with moisture wicking now for $45. That's not a bad deal.NOTE: Reebok is exclusive in jerseys. They probably stick it to you here to allow for a smaller margin on their tees, fleece, polos, etc. It's improving the quality of product available...and it's working for retailers.
