Reggie Williams wins starting WR job (1 Viewer)

Thought he looked solid...still seems slow, but found ways to get open. If he gets a little stronger and starts breaking tackles he could be a real force.
I don't think he'll ever seem fast but as long as he can be quick enough to get open and not drop passes he'll be a legit fantasy starter - he's pretty much what BMW should be.

So, is it clear that Reggie Williams is now the Jags #1 WR? He lead their WRs in week one, and is leading them again tonight with 6 catches for 48 yards - nothing impressive, but clearly their #1 WR again...Thoughts?
1a/1b with Jones and I don't see either one taking over as the true #1. I've never understood the fascination with Wilford - he did well sooner but has a 4 year head start in age over Reggie, who I think is finally starting to "get it" as an NFL receiver. Wilford is a good player and has a knack for the endzone and a good #3 in Jax, but I don't see him being the #2 again.

Targets tonight (if my count is correct from the game logs)

Williams: 8 catches on 12 targets

Jones: 6 catches on 12 targets

Wilford: 4 catches on 6 targets

I would probably be picking up Williams to replace the likes of Mike Clayton/Mark Clayton, and yes, Wilford, as others have mentioned... I think I saw someone mentinon dropping Jennings for him... probably not in keeper leagues...

Reg is now officially a solid WR 3/4... at least. I think you can realistically expect a minimum of 5 catches and 50 yards every week.

Maybe Jones will make more big plays agains some of the weaker D's (we've only seen them against Pitt and Dal), and the offense will be on the field less... but Williams is obviously a big part of that offense right now... and as long as they're winning... i doubt that changes.

He is what BMW will be once BMW gets on an NFL team. As a drafter of Reggie 2 years ago. I told ya so. I heard the 'he's a bust' blabber. But I watched the games. He caught EVERYTHING within his reach. Now he is running routes good. He's a force.

This guy looked pretty good on MNF, but this is my first time to see him. I guess I will wait and see how the top 200 ranks him. (I was actually going with another flavor of the week, Berrian)

I saw Jones being targeted for 2 red zone plays as well that were both overthrown...

Leftwich seems to zero in on a receiver for stretches of the game.. first it was Reggie, then he threw to MJ for a bunch of times.. He locks in on a guy and feeds him the ball.

they love Jonesy on the third downs

In the spirit of "knee-jerk reactions every time my players leaves the field" - Did anyone else notice that Jones seemed to be on the sidelines quite a few times in 2 receiver sets? That seemed unusual and got me nervous.

It should. Reggie Williams has not only beaten out Wilford; he's taken the #1 spot from Jones as well.

I believe Matt Jones was suffering from the lingering effects of a groin injury.

It is because Leftwich is finally realizing that to move the ball, you throw it to the guy that is going to catch it every time. That would be Reggie Williams. :pickle:

Jones was getting the Redzone looks.....I dont think R.Williams is the number one...Jones has way better skillz
1-A1-BJones has the higher ceiling w/ the lower floor... Williams has the lower ceiling w/ the higher floori think Jones is being asked to make the big play... and Williams is being asked to make the consistant play... though, those roles could switch slightly in games depending on how the defense tries to adjust to them

Reggie Williams is currently WR9 in my PPR league...

And with the number of targets he has been getting, I'm almost starting to believe that it isn't a fluke.

I was one who thought Reggie was on his way to being a bust.

Last night showed me is has arrived. I will be the first to admit when I am wrong on a player. What I do notice though is they run a lot of 3 wide and will go with the hot player. One week Wilford might be that guy, Jones the next, etc. They have a great situation in Jax having 3 tall good WR's. Jones though by next year will be a star. His hands are sick.

Reggie has been a suprise to say the least. Wilford will get his as well as the season goes on. If Taylor keeps up his ressurection they will win a ton of games this season. That defense looked ferocious last night.

Pretty sad that I had to grab Williams off the waiver wire because Randy Moss is useless.

That said, Reg should make for a decent start @ Indy this week.

yep... he'll be in my lineup w/ Gates on byei'm wondering if FBGs will pay him his dues in the rankings this week... last week he was 70 something while Jones (20 something) and Wilford (30 something) were way above him
