Reluctance to trade with first place teams? (1 Viewer)

yep. I know people don't agree all the time, but I also look at what I'll be creating in a potential trade and if it's a monster, I'm not doing it.

Just have to make them feel like they're getting the better end of the deal. Helps if they're not in my division.

I'm undefeated and in first place in one of my leagues, and have been able to make two trades in the last few weeks. Now, I overpaid a little bit to get the deals done, giving up 2 to get one top-tier option, so that might be why the deals have happened.

I personally don't have any problems with trading players to the top player in the league. There is a 6-0 team that has Brady and Cam. I was more than willing to trade him McFadden to get Cam (not straight up, but those were the principles). I worry about making my own team as good as possible, as there are very few "unbeatable" teams in fantasy. I saw a team (which I drafted, but did not own), go 15-0 in the regular season, and lose in the championship game to a team that started Pierre Thomas and Dominic Rhodes.

That being said, you will definitely face some hesitation from other owners. As said above, you just have to make them think they're getting the better end of the deal, or overpay. If you are in first, you probably have good depth, and once you are in a good position to make the playoffs, you can start planning ahead.

I have had posts made begging other teams to not trade with my team. Wide open on the forums for everyone to see.

This is a somewhat rare occurrence, but it has happened several times (in various fashion) over the past couple decades.

Redrafts, sure.

But in dynasty the best trading partners are often the top few teams and the last place teams.

I'm tied for first, get trade offers but none of them help my team. I could use a QB upgrade but most lower teams want you to fix their team for one player.

If it makes my team better that's all I care about. My goal is to do what I can to make the playoffs because then anything can happen. I'm not worrying about the other guys team; just my own.

:goodposting: If I make fewer trades with the top teams, it's because they are so strong that I can't see an offer that would interest them. Teams with a positional weakness are the easiest to find a mutually beneficial trade.

absolutely. Worrying about their team is pointless. Better yet is giving that top team an overrated player which eventually will cause their downfall...mwahaha

Anyone else having a good year and think that is penalizing you in terms of trade discussions?
Not here. After this week I am 7-0 and have been involved in plenty of trades this season. Matter of fact I can't get people to stop sending me trade offers.

Yes, that's what I think most people do. Thus me stating that I feel people don't agree with how I see it. In the end you are probably right, but creating a monster isn't something I'm trying to do as well.

Hawks (the ones that are still with us after the crash landings) have been hitting me up quite a bit lately.

I just look in my rear view mirror at them and laugh. If you couldn't fly, you can't swim.
