By now a lot of you have probably seen the helmet less run by Cowboys RB Phillip Tanner. But for those who watched the game, that was one of many great runs that the 6'0 213 lbs undrafted rookie from Middle Tennessee State had. I dug up a little bit of his college film and decided that the game was no fluke. Here is a few of his videos.

The guy has all the skills to be a starting NFL running back, and has now made the Dallas 53 man roster. Here is a recent rotoworld article: (Rotoworld) Owner Jerry Jones confirmed that Middle Tennessee State undrafted rookie RB Phillip Tanner will make the 53-man roster.

Analysis: "He's special," said Jones. "His coach says, 'I've never seen a kid like this.' You've never seen anybody who takes every note, that tries every way in the world he can to get better plus he's talented." Jones says the Cowboys may now keep four backs after Tanner rushed for 128 yards on 23 carries (5.6 YPC) in the preseason. If they keep only three, Tashard Choice will be the odd man out.

When the man in charge comes out and says this you know he is a part of their plans. Mark it down, in the next 3 years Tanner will have a season as a top 15 fantasy running back.

If he ran any more straight up he'd be leaning backwards. It's no wonder he got his helmet ripped off.

I don't disagree that he's an upright runner, but they said the same thing about Dickerson. Today AP runs just as straight up. Kid may not ever reach the standard set by those two, but he still shows remarkable escapability for someone so tall who runs so upright. His cuts are timed perfectly and his spin move looks like that of someone 5'9". It would be fun to see what he could do in the regular season.

Both were bigger faster, stronger and much much higher regarded than this clown. Plus both of them have more forward lean particularly at the point of impact. This guy is straight up when making contact or running into a pile, he will get killed running like that in the NFL.

OK

Just picked him up. I expect some goal line packages / change of pace role now that Choice is gone...really excited to see Tanner clearly rising up the ranks in Big D.
