I don't see why there would need to be a conspiracy against the guy. There are more than enough inconsiderate texters doing it for their own selfish reasons to make him snap. It's a reflection of how much we have regressed as a civilized society, and not a conspiracy.
Hey, maybe it's a reflection of how intolerant people have become.

We live in a society, and we bump up against other humans all the time. Those humans sometimes do things that annoy us.

This freak isn't a 'reflection' of anything. He's a terrible, sick, angry person that will hopefully die alone in prison after removing a 3 year-old from her father for ever. Because he sent a silent text in a theater, BEFORE a movie started.

The fact that you have been here for 17 pages, essentially blaming the victim, is depressing.
NEVER have I blamed the victim for being shot and killed.

He is however to blame for everything PRIOR to the retired cop deciding to pull out a gun and shoot him. Up until that point the retired cop did nothing wrong. It is not wrong to ask the guy to stop texting. It is not wrong to ask him again when he continues texting. It is not wrong to ask him another time when he continues texting. It is not wrong to report it to management.

What's truly scary about JoJo's comments is that there's a lot of people who share his views.
There are plenty more people like you that take isolated incidents like this only to use it as a soap box to push your agenda to ban all guns.
Link to when I have EVER proposed this? Link to anyone in this thread proposing such a thing?
Another fine example of your ineptitude. You want to ban guns from all public places - the link is in your damn quote.

What do you mean by "a lot"?
Perhaps hundreds of thousands. Pro NRA types who really want to blame the victim in these situations.

You would think a guy posting 11k/year would have a more finely tuned shtick detector.
Yeah....JoJo's not shtick. That much is for certain.

Was it wrong to follow a woman to the bathroom because she was texting?

Blame isn't 100% vs. 0% as much as you like to make it out be.

You live in a world of hyperbole. Every damn thread you post in.
At least you have [icon] giving you the benefit of the doubt that this is schtick. But I think most realize it is not. This is a hall of fame-worthy post.

Probably. The only side of that incident we've heard so far is her's though.

If they exist, they haven't come out in droves to support this shooter. I suspect they don't and JoJo's on his little island with a few outliers.
There's not much to jump on here. But I guarantee that if they had the slightest means to blame the victim, they would. So long as the shooter is white and legally owns his gun, there will always be a strong desire to exonerate him.

I don't know, how many fights did he start prior to this incident? Do you often act aggressive to people you don't know when they tattle on you for doing something you know you are not supposed to be doing? What point are you trying to make? Is because this man died change the probability at all that this would happen to you and your family?

Intolerant? People pay a lot of money to see a movie and may be paying a babysitter on top of it and you think ruining their experience should just be tolerated?

You know what stops this shooting from happening - a simple apology and explanation that he was texting his babysitter.

The people trying to assign blame 100%, if you even mention that the victim did anything wrong, by their definition you are condoning the actions of the old guy.

Don't be obtuse. No one thinks the old man was wrong to say something. Who are you arguing against?
Yeah...I don't think it's a problem to politely ask someone to stop. I can be persuaded to believe that it's over the line to go and tattle or even ask repeatedly though. The correct conversation was posted above. It's not that difficult.

Have you been reading the thread? Numerous people have stated the old man was wrong to take issue with his texting.

Actually I don't believe I've ever proposed removing concealed carry before. It's not an aspect of guns I've ever really considered before, to be honest. My discussion on gun control previously was limited to support for universal background checks and opposition to most other gun control proposals. This current opinion is new to me; it's a reaction to this event and similar events. It's not an agenda. Since the events in question are anecdotal I may end up changing my mind; we'll see.

If it is a 1 in a million chance you consider that a viable threat? At what point is the threat so great that you genuinely feel like this is something you should be concerned about happening to "you and your family" as Tim puts it.

True. But he didn't ignore being tattled on. He took issue with being tattle on. If he wasn't doing anything wrong, why would he care that the old man told management what he was doing?

You know what sounds crazy to me? The fact that crazy old angry guy brings a gun to a movie theater, shoots a guy, but you are explaining to me how a simple apology would make him happy.

Somehow, I don't think the old man, who had previously intimidated a woman, then followed her to the bathroom, then glared at her the entire movie, wass simply looking for an apology.

You know what else stops this from happening? Metal detectors. Gun bans. You in favor?

There's a 3-year-old without a dad, and people are still arguing the rudeness of a text during the previews. Unreal.

Non JEWISH white... everyone knows nobody cares about Jews.
George ZIMMERMAN was part Jewish.
Sorry timmay..... but JewOrNotJew.com has rendered a verdict...

You might look at Florida and think, what a lovely place to retire! Maybe I'll buy a condo there and spend my time among palm trees, mingling with fellow Jews... Play shuffleboard, enjoy early bird specials (steak AND shrimp for $12.95! You can't go wrong!), maybe even go to the beach now and then (must remember to always wear sunscreen!)... And then the kids can visit every winter, and it would be ever so terrific!

Intolerant? People pay a lot of money to see a movie and may be paying a babysitter on top of it and you think ruining their experience should just be tolerated?

You know what stops this shooting from happening - a simple apology and explanation that he was texting his babysitter.
You have no idea if that is the case or not.

Unreal.
Yeah that way they can take those damn annoying phones away from people before they enter the theater

Since that played a role, I find it relevant to the case.
Sure. It's relevant.

As relevant as a customer blowing away a McDonalds employee for being rude.

"Well, now, see, if that McDonalds employee had simply been friendly, as they are trained to, this probably could have been avoided."

It is not "wrong" to blow off the guy for asking to stop texting- especially during previews. It is not "wrong" to ignore him again. Or again...
True. But he didn't ignore being tattled on. He took issue with being tattle on. If he wasn't doing anything wrong, why would he care that the old man told management what he was doing?
Because stupid, childish actions deserve ridicule?
Asking him to stop and taking it to management when he refuses is not stupid and childish. It's the mature way of dealing with the issue. As I've said before there are other ways he could have handled it, such as a just moving to another seat. But there is nothing stupid, childish or wrong about what he did.

I find your hypothetical credible. If that did happen, the scenarios would be very similar.

What's truly scary about JoJo's comments is that there's a lot of people who share his views.
What do you mean by "a lot"?
Perhaps hundreds of thousands. Pro NRA types who really want to blame the victim in these situations.
If they exist, they haven't come out in droves to support this shooter. I suspect they don't and JoJo's on his little island with a few outliers.
The Omission strikes again! What part of this guy is a lunatic and deserves to be locked up do you classify as "supporting the shooter".

And I think the reaction should be the same. The overreaction was so massive, any guilt the deceased has was washed away by their own blood.

This thread is 18 pages because people can't let go the MINOR annoyance of seeing someone's cell screen during a movie preview.

yes it is. It's ridiculously stupid and childish. The theater isn't his and both parties paid to be there.

Let's remember, for the umpteenth time, that the movie hadn't even started yet.

If he has no problem getting up to get a manager, then he should have no problem getting up and finding another seat that keeps him away from the annoyance.

It was the old man's world and people weren't living in it according to his rules, so someone had to pay the price.

From your perspective it's a minor annoyance because it either doesn't annoy you much, or you're one of the people doing it.

From other people's perspective it's a big deal because they've grown pretty sick of it, especially the entitlement attitude by those who do it.

People have different perpsectives in the world. Imagine that!

No one has the perspective that the old man was right to kill the guy. But some people have the perspective that what the father was doing is a major annoyance. Not worth of dying over, but very annoying none the less.
