A very good defensive coordinator, a quality leader, and a pretty poor judge of both offensive and roster decisions.
The kind of guy who will be a 9-7/8-8/7-9 head coach most years or lead a top-5 defense. Smart teams will hire him for the latter results; dumb ones will think he can make 'the leap' and end up stuck with the former results.
Next stop: Wouldn't shock me to see him back in Baltimore; could also imagine Philly.
Ryan is planning to fool the other 31 teams by running an ineffective, preseason-style vanilla offense with scrubs all season long. That way when the Jets are in the Super Bowl, their opponent will have no useful game film. Genius.
I think Rex is an above average coach, he managed to get to two AFC championship games with Sanchez as his QB. You can't have consistent success in the NFL without a good QB. Now, he has probably lost him team at this point which will be the second time in two years and I would think he gets fired. However, as a Pat's fan I would take him in a heartbeat as DC. It will never happen but he will go somewhere and be a great DC again. I also think he gets another shot at being a head coach, he might not even have to wait as there should be several jobs open next year.
This. I actually think that his original model from his first 2 seasons with the Jets, where he didn't interact or have anything to do with the offense, could work if he had a competent QB. But the fact he blindly stayed with Sanchez for 14 games this season will cost him.
he deserves to be canned, a HC needs to have a pulse of the team, and with last seasons year end locker debacle to this years tone-deaf QB analysis, he has no clue..
and the GM with his guarneteed money needs to be 1st to go.. rex slightly behind and Sanchez cut and eat the $$
