Richard Marshall (1 Viewer)

Richard Marshall really turned it on during the second half of the season.

His numbers during his final 8 games:

48 solos, 9 assists, 2 FF, 2 INTs, 4 PDs

Prorated for an entire season:

96 solos, 18 assists, 4 FFs, 4 INTs, 8 PDs

Those are elite numbers in any format, I think. In my league he was DB8 during that final 8 game stretch, yet he put these numbers up relatively quietly - we have fairly shallow rosters, so he was a FA until just recently when I picked him up (had him earlier in the season and wound up dropping him after his slow start).

This is a guy that FBG's has had a man-crush on for quite some time, but the hype finally died down earlier this season when he had a disappointing start. Can we expect these numbers to carry over into next season and will he finally live up to all of the hype? He seems like a great post hype sleeper candidate...

I don't see any obvious trends in the opportunity data. There were more pass attempts against during the second half, but the uptick in completions allowed doesn't seem significant. My guess would be that the loss of Thomas Davis and the revolving door or mediocrity/injury at SLB helped Marshall's opportunity a bit. There could've been a transition to the new scheme early that limited him (hard to see that as a major issue) or the injuries he had in the first half may have been a bigger problem than expected. It may also have been related to a late season contact push.

I still think he's as good an upside CB prospect as any. His aggressiveness and ball skills are well above-average and I think there's little risk of the Panthers demoting him with their current depth chart so his inconsistency in coverage doesn't pose a huge risk to playing time.

I think more than just a bit. I like his lower ranking with RFA looming and plan on keeping him. I like his upside going forward.
