Ricky and Denver (1 Viewer)

I wouldn't call posting an advertisment for Denver to get Ricky from a group that led a campaign to legalize marijuana possession in Denver as an indication that Denver wants Ricky. Invalid title to thread IMO.

"The National Football League's marijuana policy is just as irrational as our federal government's marijuana policy," said Mason Tvert of the group Safer Alternative For Enjoyable Recreation. "In both cases, authorities are steering adults toward using alcohol and punishing them for making the safer choice to use marijuana instead. If (commissioner) Roger Goodell and every NFL player over 21 can go home after a game and have a drink, there is no reason why Ricky Williams should not be allowed to go home and use a less harmful drug."

Well said.

If Goodell really wanted to display some integrity and make a useful contribution to larger society as well, he'd announce that the league is going to stop testing for marijuana.

Absolutely. Sorry for blasting the OP, but the thread title is a piece of feces.
I think it's funny.Your signature otoh, not so much.
:football:
I admit my signature has some dry humor in it, but the current climate around here of discouraging discussion of certain WW players on the basis that they are "already on rosters" causes me to comment on that. Hopefully, you aren't one of those people who discourage such discussion. All that said, I do wonder will Williams may land. He would make for an interesting FA pickup probably worth more than at least 1 player on many FF rosters.

Agreed. Most players in the WW discussion threads are gone in my leagues (kickers and D's are the top free agents) but I know every league is different. So I don't feel the need to comment on other people's WW's or rosters. RW-Bucs might be a good fit. First hurdle though is reinstatement, which I don't see happening anytime soon.

Thy were interested in him a few years ago.

This would be the perfect RBBC situation for Denver. They could alternate year long suspensions.

Pass the doobie 'round the left hand side.
What a bunch of idiots you guys are. How many people in this country smoke the stuff after work? I'll bet many of you hypocrites do it when home after work. There are far more serious problems in this country that you all ignore(war/health care) yet you can't help making dumb jokes. If the Broncos want him and he is reinstated that;s fie with me. He isn't killing dogs or beating up women.

People are just joking and Ricky is easy fodder. I agree with you. He is one of, if not the most wrongly vilified athletes I've ever seen. When he retired from the Dolphins everyone labeled him a quitter. But I've always asked how is what he did any different from retirements from players such as Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, Tarik Glenn or Willie Roaf? All of those players made decisions right before or after training camp had started that they had enough but none of them were labeled quitters. Than he gets sued for bonus money he more than earned and has no choice but to make a comeback and now everyone labels him as someone who is in it for the money and says he should just go away when thats all he ever wanted to do. He is someone I'm rooting for and I'd really like to see him return this year and put up a good enough performance so that someone might give him an incentive laden deal so he won't be broke later in his years.

:hangover: Except some people IMO are not just joking. Apparently when you become a Pro Football player then your life is no llonger your own.

Everytime anyone talks about him stupid pot jokes that keep wasting my time. How many of the same lame jokes are in this one thread? The first 1000 times they were OK, but give it a ####### rest.

The NFL should continue to test for marijuana because it is ILLEGAL. The whole law in Colorado regarding marijuana is completely stupid because it conflicts on various levels. The reason why Denver doesn't arrest for marijuana in most cases is because the jail was built in the 50's here. The jail was built for 1300 and houses well over 2200 every day of the week. Once the new jail is finished (currently to be finished early 2010), the law will be changed, and people will again be arrested for marijuana. With all of the controversy in all sports regarding banned substances, why do people feel this way about marijuana? Is it because they are trying to justify their own actions? These athletes are paid MILLIONS to play a game. If you cannot stay away from drugs to get paid millions, i'm sure someone else will be more than willing to play for alot less. These are grown adults and they should start acting like adults.

Well, I don't know what Mike Shanahan's thinking is but I can tell you that most Denver fans would LOVE to have Ricky Williams on the team.
