RIP Howard Twilley, WR Dolphins (1 Viewer)

I remember him as a sure handed receiver on those great early 70s Dolphins teams.

Can still picture his TD catch against the Redskins in the Super Bowl. 28 yarder. Dolphins threw a whopping 11 passes in the game so it kind of stood out. even as a super young kid. 88 total passing yards. That was Twilley's only catch. 5'10" guy which was considered really small then. Kind of average now.

Odd box score to that game on the rushing side for Miami too. Larry Csonka had 112 yards on only 15 carries. Jim Kiick had 38 yards on 12 carries and Mercury Morris had 34 yards on 10 carries. You would think Csonka would have been a workhorse in that game. WTF Don Shula?

On the Washington side, Billy Kilmer was 14/28, 104 yards and 3 picks. Dolphins D was really good but that's terrible regardless.

The Garo Yepremian play was classic. Probably the most comical play in NFL history

Appreciate the post as I had no idea. Howard is actually my college friend's Dad. Will reach out to him as it's been a few years.

Original Miami Dolphin, was on the '66 team
Had to fight for targets against Paul Warfield once Miami traded for him

12th Round Draft pick but in '66 that made him the 101st overall selection for the AFL, was also selected by the Vikings in the 14th round of the NFL Draft
He went to Miami and it worked out pretty well for him
