RIP Walt Garrison RB DAL (1 Viewer)

I remember watching him in the early 70s, especially Super Bowl V against the Colts.

That was a man’s man.

It was reported in the media, that the trainers needed 36 yards of tape to get him ready to play in Super Bowl V.

Just a cracked collar bone & a grade 1 ankle sprain, NBD.

And yeah, was a real life rodeo bull rider on a national circuit (I know leas than zero about that topic.)

He was always good for a witty quip or quote. One of the most likable guys in NFL history.

I remember that Ken Houston stop. But two visual touchstones from my childhood stood out.

The Dallas OL getting into a 2 point stance in unison (to briefly hide the HB or FL shifting) and then resetting into their 3 point…whoa, had totally forgot that was a thing.

The final gun. They literally fired a starters pistol to signify the game ending. Wild. I remember it now but don’t know when they stopped doing it, been awhile.

1994, seems late to me.

Dallas still does this sometimes at the end of games as a tribute to Landry

Texans & their guns, very on brand.

First open carry I ever saw as an adult (besides hunting rifles which is basically everyone in rural Michigan) was walking into a convenience store at night & seeing the very large clerk had a very large 44 magnum strapped to his leg.

FTR that’s not a euphemism folks.
