Rivers has fully torn ACL? (1 Viewer)

Maybe I overlooked this posted already, but per PFT P.Rivers actually has a completely torn ACL?

According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Rivers’ ACL in his right knee is “totally gone,” and he’ll have reconstructive surgery on it soon.
If true, I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, big props playing through that. On the other hand, its hard to imagine playing a guy like that gave the Chargers their best chance to win.

Florio isn't exactly a big Charger's fan and loves a good injury coverup. A fully torn ACL is possible, but I'd like to get a few more sources on this one. Does anyone know anything about this Kevin Acee guy? Maurile?

Acee is the best-informed writer covering the Chargers, IMO.I thought this news was old by now, but maybe not everybody visits the Chargers threads. :goodposting: . Rivers had arthroscopic surgery last Monday to clean up cartilage in his knee (without it being revealed publicly), and apparently played the full Pats game without an ACL. He'll have reconstructive surgery soon and is hoping to be ready to go when training camp opens.

San Diego was feeding off his energy and really responding to his ballsy effort if you ask me, and Phil Rivers fully won me over as a fan yesterday. No quit in that kid, and no concern for his future, his future was yesterday in New England. They get rolled like ganja in Kingston without Phil yesterday, I really believe that. New England was the better team with homefield advantage, but Phil laid it all out there.

Well he was just a punk with an attitude problem. Now he's a punk with an attitude problem that's come up small in consecutive seasons and has a bum wheel to boot. The legend grows.

PLaying with that injury....wow.

I think he played great to be honest.

First pick was not his fault, second one was way underthrown in windy conditions.

All his other passes looked pretty good to me....

I think with Volek, they lose by 21....

Rivers had them in there the whole game.....

He has a long term fan here now.....

I'm not convinced. Rivers ran around the field to the locker room after the 2nd quarter. Do people with a fully torn ACL do that?

Yes...they can. Need to add guts, stupidtiy, and poor judgement to the Lip Rivers attributes.

This is disturbing news. Sure, Rivers deserves some props for playing with a torn ACL. But was it the best decision to play him? I remember one of his picks being a direct result of not putting enough on a long ball. Surely having a Volek who could at least step into a throw would be better than an injured Rivers?

:goodposting: I said this in another thread and got blasted for suggesting someone other than Rivers.Dude manned up where LT didn't. Props to Rivers if that was the case!

I don't get it. LT2 gets ripped for sitting out most of the game with a bum knee and Rivers gets ripped for playing with no ACL.

Rivers gots balwz if you ask me. That's what you want in a QB...a no quit attitude.

QB with no ACL is easier then RB with sprained MCL.

Rivers was still getting pretty good velocity on the ball, stepping into it.

LT had no burst, would have no cut back ability, decreased power to break tackles.

Everyone busting on LT is either LT hater, Charger Hater, or just dumb.....

I think you have actually surpassed LHUCKS on the anti-Rivers schtick. Congrats, you must feel proud.
