Robert Pattinson the new Indiana Jones? (1 Viewer)

I hope this isn't true. I realize that whenever Hollywood announces a big time role, the internets go crazy. Take Heath Ledger as the Joker.

But my biggest issue is he's British. It's Indiana Jones. Not Nottingham Jones.

No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No No

I don't think Robert Pattinson has the right look for the role ... too much heart-throb, not enough bad-@**.

There are a couple of guys from television I think could pull it off -- namely David Boreanaz (BtVS, Angel, Bones) and David Giuntoli (Burkhardt on Grimm).

You missed your calling, you really need to be a casting agent

:goodposting: EXactly.

I was going to post that they just need to let the character die because if my choices are this guy or Shai Labouf I mean, I'm good just watching the original over and over.

But, David Boreanaz is pretty damn good compromise. In fact, he might be as close to perfect as you could possibly be. He has the tough guy thing, women love him (my wife included and probably near the top of the list) he has a cult following from Angel and Buffy fans that could extend the reach of the movie some, he is young but not too young to really make a mockery of the role and he has a funny side to his characters that is perfect to IJ lore.

I would have never thought of him at all, and now I have to be honest........... I wouldn't mind seeing it.

Plus he can act, at least a bit better then pattinson.

Hey nobody thought Denise Richards could pull off a respectable nuclear physicist, and look how well that worked out.

And mad props on the Boreanaz call. That's truly inspired ####, right there. Somebody get on the horn with Hollywood and make it happen.

I think an older dude would need to be considered. I think someone like Bradley Cooper wouldn't be a horrible choice.

I like the Boreanaz call for most of the previous reasons mentioned. But because it makes sense, Hollywood will never do it.

Actually, though I mentioned him, one slight reservation I'd have about Boreanaz is his age -- Boreanaz is 45 years old now (yeah, know), while Ford was 37-38 during Raiders of the Lost Ark's production. However, a 45-year-old guy these days, especially in Hollywood and amid the Southern California health culture, is probably in as good a shape as a 35-year-old was in 1980. Giutoli is over a decade younger (turns 34 this year) and has a lot of the same attributes.

Kinda depends on what type of Indiana Jones film they're making, too. If the focus is on "Young Indiana Jones" (not the 80s series), maybe Pattinson's ... well, maybe he's OK. But I could't get past seeing "Edward" on the screen -- "Edward" with the hat & whip. Pattinson's played a more subtle leading-man role in other films really well (e.g. Water for Elephants), but those films tilted towards dramatic romances, and that's not what Indiana Jones films are about.

While I have obviously heard of those stupid vampire movies, I never saw them, so I'm not sure Pattinson would really rub me the wrong way as the new Indiana Jones.

So they picked a guy that starred in some trilogy that was a big hit with kids? Isn't that what they did the first time?

Told wife of this thread.

Who is Robert Pattinson?

The Twilight guy.

Oh. Whatever.

Yeah but one of the guys on my board suggested David Boreanaz.

Oh...

Except that "oh" is the sound I get when I do certain things. .. to her.

Needless to say she'd be a huge fan.

I love the thought of Fillion in the role. Boreanz would be great, too, as would Karl Urban. But Disney's basically looking to reboot a franchise that will, realistically, need to span 7 - 10 years so they can squeeze at least a trilogy out of it, and all three would be a bit too old. Ten years ago, they'd have been shoe-ins, but not as much now, methinks.
